Lamin-X as well as facelift taillights fitted to S3

Thanks marc - I will get hold of my own film and do it myself as I was not happy with the size of them :(

did you ever think that her family don't have a card and use yours for a reason staz? she knows where her bread is buttered!

Typical Poles hey? lol And she knows all my credit card details too! AND I haven't heard from her for 2 days because she's "run out of credit and can't top up her German phone in Poland". Hmmm....

*Runs off to cancel card!*

so everyone should have a CC should they, lol, now I can see why the pay as you go/top up CC's dont seem to bad after all huh

Well exactly. If you can't trust yourself with a proper credit card then you should get one of those. At least you can then buy stuff online!

its not about trust, I just dont want one simple really, especially if I dont need one on 99.99999999% of my purchases, I mean I would say this is the 1st time in years I've had issue buying something cause I dont have a CC, but good thing is I dont need a CC, it takes Visa debit card aswell which my bro has, lol, result, mines maestro & works for almost everything I need to buy

& as for proper, for me proper in your context means debt which in realistic terms its still debt even for 31 or less days until payday, then what happens if something big comes up in the month unexpected which your pay packet has to cover so CC doesnt get paid of, I'd rather have peace of mind & wait for something I can afford than worry about paying a debt, so guess with top up CC which I would use once in blue moon I get convenience of CC usage with no debt, what could be better than that no???

also to add with online purchasing becoming easier through things like google checkout, paypal & others its alot easier for me to do what I need to, then use debit card for if I go out, fuel etc

its funny cause society seems to push people into thinking its almost cool to have a CC & compare rates/rebates lol, problem is alot of people have false persona's & hide there real lives behind things like CC's as it gives them a false sense of security, not referring to you guys as I dont know you but I think you get my drift & I know people that have & do almost live with there's, sad really as usually a hole that alot of people cant get out of very easily, thats why I always say best not to have one in 1st place, but horses for courses as they say, no ones the same huh

Boydie, got your PM, but I'll respond here since it may be of interest to others too.

The s-line fogs are different to the standard ones, but they'll all be around the same size. the sport fogs will be the same on all models up to the current facelift.

Mine also didn't fit exactly. My s-line fogs are sort of oval and the lamin-x has a flat bottom on it, but was also wider than my fogs.

what I did was put the flat bit at the bottom and line the top oval up with the top of the face of the fog not the top of the curved bit (if you follow what i'm saying). I then folded the overhang around the sides and bottom and trimmed off the holder bits.

window tint isn't the same stuff and probably won't do you any good for the fogs. the lamin-x stuff is a polyvinyl film which is more resilient than window tint as it is designed for the outside of the vehicle. window tint is designed for the inside and is more prone to scratching. I'd bet that the first time you put it through a wash it will end up all scratched and the heat from the fog bulbs may even melt it.

when i fitted mine I turned on the fogs and the heat immediately started to burn off the excess moisture - so much so that there was steam pouring through the grille. I initially thought the film was going to melt with the heat.

by the way, I had a bit of trouble getting my fog light grilles back on. they don't seem to want to clip back in on the insides. the outside edge clips in properly but the insides won't. anybody else had this problem with their s-line grilles? going in for a service in a couple of weeks so i can always get the dealer to take a look if i don't get it sorted by then.

I think I'll wait until you guys have had for a few more weeks then see if any issues arisen further down road, got enuff to get on with anyway, so the tints just cover the flat face of the headlights & when you lift the bonnet you would see the break line of the tint & original headlamp, just curious as cant see them of course bending over the tops easily as its not stretchy huh

Well yes you're right you can buy most things without a credit card. But when it comes to buying things online you have more protection against fraud. Paid for by the people who pay their minimum payments.

I have never really looked at the rates on cards I have had. I don't know what mine is now. It wouldn't matter if it was 50% as I never get charged interest!

And I don't have to worry about my pay packet not covering my bill as I don't use the card unless I already have the cash available no matter what time of the month it is. For example I paid for an entire holiday to Florida on my card and paid it off 2 days later when it appeared on my online statement.

But not wanting to use the example again but if it wasn't for my CC my misus would have had to pay about 500 euro for her flight instead of 100. And she didn't have 500 euro so it wouldn't have been possible.

But if you don't travel and you don't buy much then you could never need to use a card. I'd still have one though. That cashback on the birthday of your card is a nice bonus. Free money should never be turned down.

so what you are saying is that both your girlfriend and your missus use your credit card... if that's the case, then paying your bill on time is the least of your worries!

I get my cashback at the end of each month.... even better!

lol, I like that, good one

Not if I can convince them to have a little get together ;)

Sadly they're actually the same person, and she's not that messed up in the head.

I find it so much more convenient to just carry a credit card round than lug around big wads of cash.

CONVENIENCE, thats the problem, its all to convenient for CC users, use debit cards as its coming out of same account at end of month, no need to carry cash & actually saving some for emergencies then no reliance on credit huh, no I'm not giving financial advice, just another viewpoint & also I'm not regulated by the FSA, lol, but as said everyones different

all it takes is a little willpower nigel.
not sure I understand how a guy could run up 100k on his card and use his house as collateral.
I think to bundle all credit card holders together and blame them for the credit crunch is a bit harsh.

I didnt blame all the credit crunch on CC users, I said was one of the reasons for the current climate, I actually blame the companies more as they pressure people into these things when they know the financial state they are in already so they offer more credit to help them which infact is making it worse instead of helping to settle the existing debt, they make it to easy for people to be tempted no matter about will power, but I hear u on that one to a degree but alot of people dont have will power maybe like we do or are desperate

Simple really he had a limit he wanted higher so he obviously used his collateral in his property as a guarantee from what I was informed or something like this anyway, didnt have his life story just brief clip(data protection & all) lol

Problem is I do buy alot of stuff mostly for this ****** car, lol, which I do get moaned at for as she is typical woman, why do you need parking sensors, well so you can see the ****** car you reversed into for a start you stupid cow & I do travel aswell, ok I did until few weeks ago, was to italy usually often considering she's italian(stubborn as hell), never needed CC for that

But yes FREE money is certainly something not to turn down, but it would have to be worthwhile for the time spent juggling finances around, guess for you guys it is worthwhile huh.

what kinda cashback in a year you get then guys & also if you return an item do they take that cashback of you?

anyone???

that's about the gist of it nigel.

got into the car today after work and the mistiness appears to have disappeared. there are still a few bubbles, but at least the mistiness is gone (almost).

another few days and they should be sorted i hope.

ah cool, look forward to the update then marc, many thanks.

All the mist in mine has gone too - took about 6 days. Looks perfect now. For £35 this is a must have mod for cars in certain colours. Thanks for the tip-off Rabbit222. Well chuffed with it.

yeah but I think the xenons really bring it home as yours with the drl's on look awesome & real moody on road, I'd love to see xenons on the Marc's car with the tints, anyone photoshop Rabbits lights on Marc's car when headlights are on of course, but no doubt also look good on halogens.

are you still trying to sell me your xenons!!

whenever the PIAA boat comes in the light will be a bit whiter.

one side effect of fitting the film is that the fried egg effect looks to have been reduced. probably still go for a set of mirrored indicator bulbs though.

Finally here's mine. Lamin-X on Ibis White

Had my lamin-x a month now and still not fitted, mainly due to the fact that I have only just got round to fitted my OEM xenons this weekend. Even if I say so myself they look well. Gona leave it a bit before I fit the lamin-x I think, dont really want to cover up the xenons just yet.

On the CC topic, I always use my credit card for purchases mainly for two reasons.
1. Back in the day when I had my 306 I purchased some new wheels from an advert in a car magazine, I used my mums CC. After two months the wheels never turned up, so my mum got on the phone to the CC company told them the situation and they refunded the money to the card and chased up the wheel company for the money back. A month or so later I received a letter from the insolvency company - they had got bust. You get the extra protection with a CC
2. I use the CC a lot for work and its easier sticking it on mine. When your filling up a coach and its taking £400 it soon mounts up

So I did something earlier..managed to get a set of foglight laminx and proceeded to to my side repeaters/markers/indicators. I removed them to check if the film would fit and wala it did. I messed up the first repeater with my horrid cutting skills but the second one came out mighty fine....

Can someone link me to sheets of lamin-x which havent been pre-cut? I have been on the website and have been looking for them but cannot find them :(
