Engine Bay (photo) - Am I missing something?

Having just been to Audi to collect my new MAF, I notice something I've never spotted before.

The circled pipe looks unusual; I'm sure it had a black screw cover on?! What is this pipe? Am I OKAY to run the car for now without the 'so called' cover?

(it is located at the rear of the bay as you can see, on the right hand side, behind the TIP (intake pipe))

Aircon refill or bleed pipe. Should have a plastic cap on it. You can see mine in the pic below.

5p from Audi - that'll be the day. They'll probably suggest an engine rebuild.

you could go to a local scrap yard and get one from there. doesnt have to be an audi, just annother non jap car with a/c as the valves are the same.
