Hey guys.

Just thought Id give you a heads up on a problem I recently had with Ebay/Paypal. I recently had a bit of a clearout and listed a load of old mobile phones I no longer use with chargers and other stuff. A guy won them, took nearly two weeks to pay but in the end I got the money for them. I posted them straight away via recorded delivery and told the guy that someone would have to be at the house to sign for the goods. After this didnt hear anything and thought cool, all done and dusted. A week later I was clearing my desk and like a tit decided to throw away the Royal Mail tracking slip, after all the guy knew the phones would be there the next day and hadnt contacted me so I assumed (yes I know assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups) it would be alright to bin them. Well two weeks after that I got an email from the guy along the lines of where are my phones can I have a tracking number, shortly followed by a Paypal dispute being opened.

Surely enough, it was ruled against me, the buyer was refunded the money and probably has my phones too. I wasnt even bothered about the money when I was selling them, just dont like having junk in draws gathering dust.

You win some, you lose some.

I use the paypal postage payment option these days as its often cheaper for the same weight package compared to the in post office rate, and im honest in the items weight by the way!! This at least registers all reference numbers in the system so nothing gets lost or thrown away by accident.

I always email the buyer the tracking number when I send anything, then the onus is on them and I have a record of everything.

Doh! Sorry to hear about that Unkle! bit of a bummer really.

Has happened to me plenty of times and paypal always favor the buyer, tis a major bummer!!

Yep, I once sold an Alpine head unit on ebay. The buyer left good feedback and after 2 months claimed the lot back as a fraudulent credit card transaction. I lost out as I had sent it to an unconfirmed address. Ebay and Paypal couldn't care less who was in the right they just took the money out of my paypal account and left me £150 in arrears.
I do believe things are changing now as regards seller protection but it can still be a very frustrating experience!
The way I look at it is, I've saved far more than I've lost so I will still use it, just more carefully

To be fair he might not of got them, also he's Asian and English isnt his first language judging by his emails, communication with him has been terrible. Im just MEGA cheesed off that he left it so long to tell me that they hadnt arrived...

*curses*

Cest la vie!

Do you have the imei numbers off the phone, if so get them blacklisted.

If you print the postage via the internet, then you'll have a record saved on your pc, may be worth considering....

I love the way ebay have stuck it to the sellers by not allowing you to leave negative feedback for buyers now.

As a result of this sellers now wait till they receive feedback from the buyer before leaving theirs, this has happened twice to me recently.

Just makes the whole feedback thing a joke. the customer is not always right, some of them are a bunch of time wasters and you have to leave them positive feedback? You can't even opt for neutral anymore. It's just ebays way of making sure everyone leaves positive feedback for everything so that ebay looks great.

No it wasn't but I do have an excellent French pron DVD if you're interested!

Me too. In fact twice I have left feedback as a buyer and even now two months or more down the line, the seller hasn't bothered to leave me any feedback at all. Tbh in the future I may well decline to leave any feedback. Why should I if I'm not going to receive anything in return!

I always leave feedback then email them asking if they are happy with the transaction and if so could they do the same....

yeah ebay feedback system sucks now for me as a seller, so you end up leaving positive feedback even if it is slating them as a buyer, who looks at the greens then reads the comments, it completely ***** now & Ju further up commented its changing, yeah for the worse, I've been using ebay for 7-8 years now & this has gotta be the worse change ever, there's some right ****** buyers on there & why shouldnt I be able to tell you about them aswell

Ebay now sucks if you are a seller, Buyers are slow to pay now due to the feedback system, I'm well down on my shop sales. I'm thinking of closing the shop and going back to normal sales cos of the shop fees.

Yeh I have done that. But so far no answer or feedback, so what else can I do ... ?

I just sold a mobile on Ebay and recieved an email telling me the money was in my paypal acc so went on to paypal to request the funds to my bank account and it tells me that I cant withdraw the money untill the seller either leaves me positive feedback or it's been 21 days and I havent had any disputes etc.. good for the buyer sure but what about me the seller?? All the buyer has to do is say item not recived, not in condtion described etc and the money is gone..Hopefully will get the feedback requierd but I cant help but think the worst.
