Audi-Sport Road trip in August - Switzerland/Italy

There is an article in today's Auto Express about making sure your headlights are setup (xenon) or the patches (halogen) applied correctly. It says that the continental police can fine you up to £710 if they are not applied at all or not applied correctly!! the article also says that if you did have an accident and the patches were missing you insurers would only cover you for third party claims.

Someone sent this link to me over the weekend:

Basically the nice french police men would love to give you hassle over not having a flourescent jacket or two in your car!

I did a quick look on google and see you can pick these up for just over a quid

www.hivis.net

So bagged myself a couple.... Good for leaving lying around on the parcel shelf as well ;-)

Andrew

LMAO at the female model! She's really workin' it!

you should get ones with audisportball on the back - looks to be only a quid extra...

Mitch78 is bringing his VAGCOM I think, it's posted somewhere in the thread, so hopefully can get the lights sorted with that.

Probably not so much of a problem this time of year, as you don't need them on as much!

...god i'm so tempted...... just a bit last minute and it would be near impossible for me to get organised in time!

Except in every tunnel you go through and there are a lot of them in Switzerland !!!

Yes, I'll have mine with me. I know I can do 8P S3s and later 8Ps with Bi-xenons, can't do earlier models though, that's a dealer-only job.

Some of the older models with halogen headlights had a small lever inside the headlight to change them over.

Come on mate, you know you want to!! How hard can a train and two hotel bookings be?! Took me all of 15 min! :)

P.s. 10 pages woohoo!

:( next year though!?

Steve, there you go - a eurotunnel ticket up for grabs!! Take it!!

Topgear was just on TV where they drove through the Alps, awesome, simply awesome!

Lee's got the stickers now, so wear em with pride!!

Have a really good trip lads, make it one to remember.. But stay out of trouble!

Ive been in trouble before mate, you dont wanna go there, shes a sloppy mess...

New laws passed in July, you now need a high vis vest and warning triangle in the car

I have not got a First Aid Kit. According to the AA it's not compulsary in France, Switzerland or Italy.

Warning Triangle should be in your car already, by the spare wheel, though to be extra pedantic you should move to inside the passenger compartment as apparently the boot is not a good enough place for it to be stored!

What's the plan for Friday morning ? We are leaving Thursday night and staying in Ashford Thursday night, so where is the best place to meet and what time on Friday AM.

I think everyone else is coming from Guilford or Reading right ?

Been to Tesco today and bought them out of Red Bull! :D

List:

Passport
Print out of hotel bookings
Print out of tunnel booking
2-ways
Wigs
Map of Switzerland/Italy/France (just in case)
Hivis jackets
Torch
GPS
Plastic
Food
Clothes
Cameras
Balls of steel and lead foot.

Anything else I'm missing?

A decent Roadkill remover for windscreen.... our wipers weren't up to the job last time round.

Remember this mess all over our windscreen...

I promised myself a decent bug remover next time round... the wipers would just smear it all over but not clean.

Does anyone have an iphone car charger? Apple have removed the firewire charging abilitys of the 3G iphone so I can't charge it in my ipod dock anymore!
