A few weeks back this dude came to our offices, to tell us about dry valeting.

I was like "No water?" :uhm:

Anyway, he told me that this US product is 10 years in R&D, its completely safe. Works on some kind of atomic level (lol) it clays - cleanses - polishes - waxes in one application. "yeah, right"

Anyway, my old man was so intruiged that he let them loose on his car. As teh guy was willing to stop and do it there and then

Vax on, vax off.....sounds like a load of rubbish to me tbh - may only be saying that as i've just spent £350 on car cleaning stuff before opening this thread.
 
Hmm, i have heard about things like this before. I'd be very interested to see the results on a jet black car before passing judgement rather than a dirty white colour like that Jag.
You can have your car coated in a substance which breaks down dirt on a molecular level and just allows it to be hosed (maybe rubbed) off.
To be honest though, it's grit and bigger pieces of dirt which have to be washed away, not sure how dry cleaning gets rid of them without scratching the car?!
 
I would be very dubious of any cleaning that does it dry ie no lubrication for the paint. Swirl city ??

I've got to admit, I'd be dubious about this, so hat of to your old man for trying it out!
I'll stick with the hard way... like S3Izzo - I've spent a small fortune on all the stuff so intend to use it :3sadwalk:
 
I have read about this on detailingworld. Seems very popular in parts of USA where they have restrictions on washing cars.

It may work but my car wouldn't be being used as guinea pig!
 
im a little surprised your dad let the guy have a go on THAT car. (which is gorgeous btw)

after seeing it, would you let the guy have a go on your car?
 
That is the most forgiving colour possible though isn't it! Show me some before and after pics on a black car and i'll decide!
 
Who is THE joe johnson?
 
Snooker player.
Was quite a big name in the 80's/90's, when snooker was in its hayday.
He may have been world champion at one point, I can't recall.

I wouldnt let the guy close to my car no. But im anal about my paintwork lol, AND He was done in an hour, i'd like to see every part of the car get a gr8 attention to detail.

Its simply a spray on, wipe in, then buff to a lustre kind of affair.

The results were very good indeed. Prior to having it done the paint was absolutely covered in fine swirls (never been detailed or carefully washed before).

Those scratches are now gone.

Anyway, im not trying to sell his business, i just thought the idea of waterless valeting quite intruiging :rolleyes:
 
i've used this stuff on my old car, when i went to club meets, great for giving it a quick wash when you get somewhere

it's not exactly dry, its a fluid. i know someone who uses this all the time on his black metalic car and he's got no marks on it at all, not sure if i'd use it instead of water, but its great for keeping in the boot with a microfibre cloth for getting the road grime off when you get somewhere that you need a clean car to show.

Looks good. I still have reservations about it! It just seems like some sort of witch craft.

How the hell does it not scratch the hell out of the paint when its that dirty?
 
I have no idea how the science of that works but that pretty amazing by anyone's standards. Doesn't appear to be any swirl marks at all either.
If it's as good as it looks i would be very interested in this. Looks a lot more quick and easy than the usual car washing process thats for sure.
All i can think is that it chemically breaks down the dirt but then how does it wipe off without leaving any behind??

Also, does it interfere with waxing afterwards?
 
You shouldnt need to wax it Dave, the stuff does everything including wax and seal! lol.

Ive bought some just to try out of intruige ;)

Ive put a link to it above as I know all you balck car owners will be running off to try it :)

The product is called "no wet"
 
Ive seen this before, a couple of lads on Dragons Den trying to get financial backing to bring it to the UK from America. I cant remember everything about it but i dont think they got their money, ive got a feeling it was down to them wanting too much cash for a very low % share.

No doubt this is a great idea but i would be sceptical about using it on a very dirty car or using it week in week out. Great as a pre-show clean however.

Obviously i'm going to buy some even if just out of morbid curiosity!

I posted on detailing world about it a while back. It got an expected reaction.

Im just as amazed as anyone else, you "have" to see it to believe it though.
 
This sounds very similar to a product called Spray & Shine that is sold on Ideal World Shopping Channel I bought some and used it on My 97 R reg Escort Estate and must say it done a good job.

that car had been cleaned using that product for over a year when those pictures had been taken.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not sure i'd use it rather than a traditional wash product but it's great to keep in the boot, for those quick clean moments.
