Reversing Camera

Hi All,
I have been looking recently at fitting a rear view camera. I know that the A3 doesn't need one but it just looks cool!!!

Anyway, technically it seems pretty straight forward, especially now that the reverse signal is carried over CAN, but..

Where the hell to mount it without it looking messy?

Any ideas, has anybody on here done this? any pics?

no, i think you can do it with the audi coding now as there is a reverse camera available for the a4, r8 and q7.

yes, if you go into the RNS-E engineering mode, and select reverse gear you can see that it receives the reverse signal over the CAN Bus.

I think that the A4 has the camera fitted in the boot handle, any idea whether this handle would fit an A3?

when your RNS-e is on press Nav, to go to the nav screen, then press and hold the top left button (around the select knob) for 5 seconds then hold the top right one for 5 seconds

I put the Q7 camera into my A4 using an A6 boot handle. Looks and works perfectly without the need for it to be coded as a Lambo.

Info here this was into an A4 but I believe it has also been done into the A3.

going backwards isnt my issue... its backing in to the garage on the incline I have and the front being close to the fence... I could do with it like the BM's and there colours zoning for proximity...

Front sensors I see are now an option on the FL S3

You could always pop to your Audi dealer and measure one up. I seem to recall a guy on navplus.us who installed on into an A3 - not sure if any mods were required though. I cant remeber the exact cost but around £160 (including the camera) sounds about right.
