F1... Whos your money on this year?

Was a good race tho. Massa had a blinding start! Shame it ended as it did.

Got to admit I was genuinly gutted for massa, he did drive a blinding race, glad Heikki won one at last, a bit lucky yes but he did very well to keep his posistion though from start to finnish.

LOL thanks man. ive got some other collectables but my house is full now. got **** loads of mariah carey signed items too.

I wont mention my Spice Girls signed bits and bobs then  lol

If Alonso heads over to Ferrari, I think the focus will be on Alonso vs Hamilton, like you mentioned MS vs MH. Should be some good battles if it does happen. Theres smatterings of Alonso heading to Honda next year and Ferrari for 2010. I thought Honda signed both Rubens and Button for next year?!

Hungary does bring up lots of first wins doesn't it!!! Fair play to Heikki tho. Suppose winning is winning.

Well well, who would have thought we'd have a race like this one today, finally Massa decides he actually wants to win the championship this year when the red lights went out! Too bad his engine let go in the end. Heikki had a reliable race, he just needed to bring the car home and win, congrats to him on his maiden win. My moneys still on Shamilton, I mean Hamilton to win it this year though... cos he has the luck of the devil. :racer:

slightly off subject, but does anyone think its odd with hamiltons dad following him everywhere ?

its not odd, he`s the money grabbing git. when ut shows u the other drivers, it doesnt show there parents. in fact, schueys dad rarely went to a race. like i said along post ago. there not in it for the love of racing with mclaren. there in it for the money. think back to last year and shamilton was only paid a small fee and within about 4 races his dad had got him a huge pay rise..money money money.

look how many shamilton haters there are on itv-f1`s webby forum..lol

http://www.itv-f1.com/community.aspx

maybe i should join them. oh no wait i forgot, i dont HATE him, i just dont like him. seems im not alone..hehe

maybe his dad is gonna morph into willi webber. i mean he`s almost there in character dont ya think

Wilhelm "Willi" Friedrich Weber (born March 11, 1942 in Regensburg, Germany) is the manager of Michael Schumacher, Besides taking care of his clients' contractual issues he also proved to be quite a talent in finding ways to make money for his clients with creative merchandising deals

turns out in the booklook from grandprix legends, lewis offered to sell a 1/8th dicast signed cars for £5000 and grandprix legends said they sell 7 times world champion Michael Schumachers signed cars for £2700 as the same as kimis. think that says it all considering lewis hasnt earned the same status as schuey. "money grabbers"

It's because he's his manager, all the drivers managers go to the races, I think they show him alot cos it's unusual that a parent is a manager of one of the more succesful drivers who happens to be there when a camera is in his vicinity you may have even seen other drivers parents on the tv and not know that they were related, who knows?? If I were in an F1 drivers shoes I can say my dad would want to be there at every race like I would if my son was in that position too, ITV don't have control of the cameras at all the other countries apart from the british grand prix I believe, I have noticed that they show massa's father & brother alot too.

I think the money grabbing git is a bit harsh also, I'm sure that most of the drivers No1 objective in their career is to be succesful at racing and the money is part of the terrortry . I do believe all the drivers get paid a fair bit too you know not just hamilton, & all the drivers managers will have the same objective in mind, to make as much money as possible, that part is business, they wouldn't be doing their job very well if that wasn't the goal, & surely his rags to riches story makes him more acceptable to joe bloggs than some brat who's had daddy open doors and hands everything on a plate to him. Why can't we stick to discussing about the drivers skills, races , cars , tracks etc without all this I hate/don't like him or whatever, cos frankly it's getting boring now, none of us really know them so we can only go on the odd interview we see of them on race weekend , and to be honest hamilton comes across as one more talkative ones to me along with DC, Hekki, Vettel, Button, Barichello, truilli, massa, rosberg, where as some are like wooden robots, Raikkonan, alonso, piquet, kubica spring to mind but guess what, it doesn't bother me what their like or what they earn I just like watching the racing and the teams stratergies, not really a rant but that's all I have too say on it.

Well you must admit... he's one HELL of a manager! lol

I still find it odd, he gets everywhere, i wouldn't be surprised if Mclaren run the 2 seater car next year so he can get closer... I was watching the re-run of top gear tonight when Hamilton was on ... he was there too !

What away to end the race for poor Massa, it does make you wonder though if he just drove the Engine too hard, perhaps they turned the wick up a bit as a result of the McLaren front row lockout.

Fair game that was a great drive off the line and pass in the first corner, Massa did drive a great race, just makes you wonder if Ferrari were too desperate to get a good result and as a result over-stressed the Engine.

Trying to remember the last time we saw a Ferrari Engine let go in a race ?

Still it is making for an interesting second half of the season.

Paul

If I remember right I think one of them had an engine go at one of the earlier grand prix this year, maybe australia? but it all makes for intresting racing all these incidents, I said before the season started, this year would be an intreseting one and so far it's not dissapointed for me.

Yea I think Massa's let go then as well. 3 or 4 Ferrari engines went on that weekend alone didn't it (counting STR as well)? Kimi's has his engine change after the exhaust falling off didn't he.

did you hear what alonso said about the engine development freezing.... that manufactures are allowed to change certain parts due to reliability and that he reckons over the course of the development freeze engine builders will pick up 30 bhp !

Its a loop-hole in the rules. They change parts to improve the engine's efficiency and performance. The official reason is to 'improve reliability' and added performance is just a bonus. Nothing they can do about it which is great for the viewers because performance swings from one team to another! :)

i feel for poor old Massa, even given the above info on the engine parts being replaced etc....

dont lets forget though that Lewis Hamilton has had his fair share of bad luck just like any other driver...in fact since his entrance to this arena, id like to bet he's had more bad luck and stupid mistakes than anyone out there....

Completely agree about his dad though, why not follow your son around...wouldnt you be extremely proud....yes it may look like a money thing, although his dad has virtually crippled himself funding Lewis's career before McClaren got hold of him. We will never know the true reason, the positive reason would be that hes a doting dad who also managers his son, the negative among us would suggest otherwise..... who are we to speculate

Spot on mate. I'd be the same, be at as many races as possible for my son. As for is bad luck/mistakes, I'd say thats because hes still a rookie. Still got a lot to learn so they should iron out in time.

Be interesting to see next race. No idea what to expect really.

Coss

Anyone watch quali? Suprised at the pace of Ferrari! Looks like a nice little track. Tomorrow should be interesting. Looks quite slippery until the rubber goes down. Was watching the GP2's race today and there was a few good scraps going on. Hopefully it'll be the same for tomorrow. Shaping up to ge a good race!

After watching the Ferrari’s pole lap following qualifying, Hamilton conceded Massa had “destroyed” his rivals

its funny how he didt get pole and moaned like a bitch about it.

“We just watched Felipe’s qualifying lap and, as he said, it was sector one in which he destroyed everyone," he told a press conference.

I didn't see quali but on race day massa drove very well, shame about the pit lane incident for the ferrari mechanic with Kimi though, that looked painful, lewis drove solid and sensible i thought , but I was very impressed with vettel, I think he may well be a constant winner if he gets the right drive under him, I like the new circuit too, maybe you'll get to take the yacht there one day coz , lol.

The circuit looks good on paper. That last sector is mind blowing! No overtaking heppened on track (that I remember anyway) so was quite boring I thought. Was just the Ferrari crew in the pits that made things exciting! I remember when the Ferrari pit stops used to run like clockwork. Not so now... Well done to Massa tho. As you said, solid race. Ferrari seemed to have upped its game lately. Should be a good climax to the season! Kimi seems to have lost interest.

As for the yatch, there was loads of room so I may pop down next year! lol

Should be a good race tomorrow,it's a great circuit at spa & a briiliant quali by hamilton, and if it rains that could be very intresting too.

Was an interesting quali. Hamilton's lap was pretty damn good. Light or not, .34 of a second is quite a margin in F1! I think he had all 3 fastest sectors in that last session. Should be a good race. Kimi seems to have lost it now. Doesn't have the fire in him I dont think. I recon its a fight between Massa and Lewis for the championship. Was good to see both RBR's in the top 10 too! If Red Bull get their act together for next year then Vettel should be regularly in the points.

Boy done good again!!, Great last few laps, bourdais drove well all weekend too I thought.

Excellent race!, for the last 5 laps anyways lol. Hamilton got lucky again I suppose, but who cares, he's won! Kimi's blown his championship double, showed good speed for most of the race, but seemingly uncomfortable in the wet. Massa still finishes 2nd, so still a 2 horse race for the championship.

I missed the race!!! Didn't have anywhere to see it! Flicked through all the TV channels and it seems the Spanish don't want to show the race! And i couldnt stream off the ITV website because I'm not in the sodding UK! :motz::banghead:

I read about it tho and it sounded like a pretty good race! I think its time for Kimi to play second fiddle now. I'd be very suprised if the Champion doesn't end up being Massa or Lewis now. Well done to both STR's!

i dont think he got lucky at all....good race but brilliant last 5 like you say...

Lewis was unlucky to spin at end of first lap and took Kimi fair and square i thought without much rainfall at all, was glad the rain came after the manouver before people questioned his ability and made excuses for him winning

These guys should be able to drive iin these conditions coming from the roots that they have.... the fact that Hamilton is wey above all the drivers in the wet is testoment to his abilty and shame on anyone for excusing that

Just heard on the news that Hamilton has been stripped of his win and been demoted to 3rd place after a stewards enquiry for his cut accross the chicane 3 laps from the end. He was given a 25 second penalty which gives him 3rd place, so Massa gets 1st and the points... what a farce!

FIA Ferrari International Assistance upto its old tricks again, raikonann pushes him wide so he either goes in the wall or cuts the corner then lets kimi have his place back, so surely that's the end of it you'd think, fair enough if he didnt give him his place back but he did, I'm beginning to think the FIA might be racist!

I know it would but as usual if it were any other driver there would be nothing said.

25 second penalty......what they realised the 10 second penalty would still let him win!

What a bunch of biassed tools they really are!
After massa risking lives in the pit lane last week....un punished. Raikonen in Monacco spooning into the Force INdia.....- unpunished......! Raikonen's flying exhaust....unpunished....!>!>! Lewis hits him in the pits in canada.......punished!! Kovalinen today, stiks it up the inside and spins out webber---punished! I mean it is not like webber was out of the race like in monacco!

I remember when FIA had their tongues up Michael Shumachers ahole and he overtook under waved yellows (I think), anyway he got a 10 s stop and go penalty......they let him go in the pits on the last lap, cross the line, enter his pit and sit there 10 sec before declaring him the winner ***! If he had had to do the pit out at 60kmhs, he would have lost!
I wonder how long before Lewis realises they are out to get him and Mosely is a racist fxxk and stops bothering risking his *** like that. It seems you get a great car, cruise around in third like an also ran and get rewarded like Massa.

BTW, in 2007, Mosely got rid of the then chief Steward and appointed his own, some guy called allan donnely. Do a google search to see the history of this guy!!

Corruption at it's most cynical........at the expense of the fans without which there would be no sport and certainly no billion dollar business. Mclaren should pull their cars out and see how much joe smoe enjoys the Ferrari parade laps til the season end!

I think the Heikki one was fair enough cos it was bad driving but like you say all the other times ferrari do something and nothings said is making the sport look stupid. after years of schumacer domination it had got boring, brilliant as he was, this season and the last have been just the change the sport needed in my opinion but these grossly biased penalties really are spoiling it.
