As much as I love my S3, and I really do love it, I fancy something a bit more hardcore and less practical!, so I'm seriously considering a Noble M400.

Sprint Blue S3 57 plate with 23k on the clock.
Buckets seats
FBSW
BOSE + 6 CD front loader
Cruise, Ipod, no smoking, 18 OEM RS4 alloys
Stock apart from GIAC Hammer map and flash loader with stock map too.

I'm hoping for around 25k although I've done more miles than any other 57 plate I can see for sale. Do you recon 25k is about right?

Cheers,

Al.

I would say so for a private sale , put it up at £24,995 and see how you go.

Anybody who wants to buy it would be looking to knock you down £500-£1000 anyway!

The miles are a bit on the high side , but you can only try.

£25k sounds a little bit high to be honest (purely based on mileage). I'd say put it up at £24k with a view to taking anything above £23k.

What Car do a free valuation at : http://www.whatcar.com/valuations.aspx

Glass's online do a valuation for £3.50 at : http://www.glass.co.uk/index.php

If you've got a good relationship with the dealer you bought it from, then pop in to them and see if they'd buy the car back from you perhaps.

Went around Millbrook proving ground in a M12 GTO 3R.. the handling is absolutely phenomenal and the noise ... we hit 175mph on the oval in no time. Awesome!

Good luck if you do go-ahead with the sale!

-Sal-

Thanks, I might give it a go if the settlement figure is sensible. Hopefully in this climate nobody's buying nobles so I can knock them down a fair bit!

The valuation says cost new of 27k, but it was 33k!

Contact JUX - he is trying to sell his S3 for £25k. I thought it was overpriced personally (others didn't). I notice his car is still in the Classifieds and he's dropped it to £23.8k. Its got a lot more spec on it than yours and lower mileage - and it seems he still can't shift it.

Don't mean to sound glum mate - I'm just trying to give you a realistic response to your question: but in today's climate and with your spec/mileage I reckon £22.5 (knocked doen to £22k) is more realistic.

Good luck though.

Ouch! I might approach the dealers then, see what they can do for me.

As a guide, I paid 25K for mine 4 months ago from an AUDI specialist independant dealer.

57 Plate (Oct 07)
4K Miles (Has 8.5K Now)
Pre-owned (Im 2nd owner)
Sprint Blue
Cruise
Auto Lights
Auto Wipers
Sunroof
Armrest front & rear
Tints
Folding Mirrors
FBMFSW
Apaptive Lights
Non Smoke pack
BOSE
Bluetooth

25K might be too much to stimulate interest considering the mileage.
Maybe start it at £23995 and see what response you get privately?

Ive found Pistonheads is an ideal place to start.

Hope this helps

Good luck

Paul

Look at this car for sale here in SA, how much does this equate to in pounds?

2007 Audi S3 Quattro

13000 kilometers, Sprint Blue with Black Vienna leather.

It has the following options;

1. Sunroof

2. Acoustic parking rear

3. 7 double spoke quattro GmbH alloy wheel (18'' 225/40)

4. Sat nav with colour screen

5. Audi exclusive front bucket seats

6. Light and rain sensor, auto dip interior mirror

7. Additional lights package

8. CD Changer (6 disc)

R350 000.

I sold mine privately dealers didnt want it unless I ordered a new one,
57 plate 6300miles,got offered £21,000 from a few traders, local Audi dealers said it was worth £21500 as a trade in,sold it for £22,000 to a private buyer.
Much as I hate to say it most S3 for sale are way overpriced thats why they are still for sale, its a stealers market Im afraid, there are not many private buyers out there for various reasons.
We had broken even on the finance at £22,000 and decided it was an expensive "sunday car" that was hard to justify.
Good luck anyway (like the noble as well)

About £23k - seems like your prices are the same as ours.

Rather than selling your dealer the car outright speak to the sales manager and ask him to list it for you as an Audi approved at an agreed % due to him on completion, that way they look after all the paperwork with nil risk to you and they usually go for it as its no risk/outlay for them, give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes, the only downside is you will have to keep nipping back if someone expresses an interest in the car or leave it at the dealers for the duration whickh means you may have to make other transport arrangements.

Otherwise I agree with the other Guys, cars are taking a hammering at the moment so I'm guessing that offer you around £21K as an outright purchase.

Good luck

Hey mate...

I came across this... Just the buckets it aint got but got the rest of your spec. Same mileage.

Good spot - is that a dealer selling though ? Means they probably gave about £20k for it. Not good.
And who's he kidding with this remark ? "In The Best Colour Combination Of Phantom Black With Two Tone Black and Silver Leather"

Everyone knows that Ibis with black leather is the best colour combo !

Mine is younger and has buckets, gotta be worth at least £500 over that one.

Totally agree - and Sprint Blue is the second best colour (with Phantom Black third - IMO of course).

You're in a Catch 22 really because I bet you'd get a GREAT deal on a Noble right now but not the £25k you were hoping for on your S3. What would your Noble budget be ?

The going rate for a good example M400 is £35k (down about £5k since I last looked about 6 months ago!)

I think I'm just going to take the hit on the S3 and hopefully get a good deal on the noble. And NEVER buy a new car again! (Unless I win the lottery or something!)

Reckon you could get that down to a £10k hit on exchange ? There was a Noble at a trackday I did recently and they are fearsome - serious performance for £35k.

Turn coat! :)

Your right , in fact i'd go as far as to say Phantom is rubbish! ( don't buy it , your far better off with Ibis or Sprint )

:ninja:

Quite possbily. Hopefully the settlement figure on my loan won't be too savage, I'll give them a call later. (fingers crossed).

Yeah, they are ridiculously quick, a stock M400 is 425bhp and they weigh a tonne! And I thought my 1.5 tonne S3 with 315 (or whatever) bhp was quick!!
Not only is the power/weight insane, but they really handle.

You and I both know we're just out to protect our own residuals by putting people off buying Phantom (the best colour but ssshhhhh...) :ninja:

Could you live with one as a daily driver or would it be a part-time toy ?

I will miss the practicality of the S3 for sure, but I don't drive very far except on road trips! I'll probably start getting the train to work too.

Alex, I cant wait for you to get an M400 mate, you've been thinking about it for some time so that tells me you Vaaaant it muchly!! :)

Thanks mate! Still not sure I can afford it yet! But it if the sums add up I'll defo get it!!

It's my dream car for < £40k :)

Trade prob £20-21K; retail £24-5K; private in the middle! Think Glass's assumes DVD sat nav too... Remap would add no value on resale. Was told on Sat that cars are making £1-2K under book at the moment.

Plus from broadspeed, heavy discount on a new one - so you're probably looking around £27-28K new with your spec.

Yeah, it's not great news really, **** happens. Although as has been said, the noble should be suffering too! :)

Just checked insurance!

S3 = £990
M400 = £1766.24
Wallet = in pain!

Don't think about the cash as long as you have it - there are no pockets in shrouds etc. When I first got my Corrado the insurance was £1,400 which was a fortune to me. That was 9 years ago: I remember all the fun but don't remember missing the cash at all. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you haven't thought already - JUST GET IT !

Lol, yeah, it's definitely worth it! Manage to get a quote of £1419, so not the end of the world!

I think £25k is way too optimistic!!!!

Extras don't really mean a lot... for instance the same car with buckets or without maybe you would have only £200 difference in price... even though we paid a lot for them

I would sell mine today if someone gave me £20k flat!!!

Pedro

Think if you get trade bid starting with a 2 you will be doing well, maybe low twenties for a private sale.

Audi have offered me 19.5k for my car, which is about right for trade, so I think as soon as I get back from the road trip I'll try to flog it for as much as possible, and if I can't shift it before the new plate comes out I'll just give it back to Audi.

Go for Autotrader Alex. Im sure it will be sold quickly for nearer 21-22k EASILY with your spec :)

Hmm, that's pretty scary depreciation.

over 10k in one year, my Leon Cupra R lost 9k in 4.5 years and 42k miles ( 17.5k new, traded in for 8.5k ).

Mind you most depreciation will be in the early years so hopefully if I keep my S3 for a while it won't be so bad!

More expensive cars take a bigger "cash" hit in depreciation.

Think of it more in percentage terms.

I.e, your car lost 51% in 4.5 years.

I would hazard a guess that the S3 will be similar (£15k 4.5years)

Imagine buying a £250k roller, then selling it 3 years down the line, you might get 70k for it

Yeah, hope so.

I'm really annoyed at the moment! On my way to work this morning, coming around a corner to find a massive lorry in the middle of the road! he basically squeezed me into the curb scuffing the edge of my near side front rim :( It's not that bad, but it's typical, just as I'm thinking of selling the car I curb it!

Can anyone recommend a good alloy refurb place in or near Surrey?!

Wheel refurb - Spit and Polish in Tonbridge, always do mine, if that helps. they do offer a collect and deliver service but that might just be a trade thing
