As the title says, i have a white 8p S3, and looking getting a Carbon bonnet. just want to know how it looks like.
There are few things i am worry about.

My car came with black grills. just worry it will look abit funny with the black bonnet as the line won't line up.

and if i put the carbon bonnet on my car. the car might look as clean or classic as it is now.

pics or advice will be helpful.

thanks

And the brand i am thinking of getting the bonnet from is OSIR design.

I could easily photoshop one for you, it'll be an epic fail though unless you paint the carbon IMHO.

well i am still thinking. because S3 aren't the same as Golf GTi you can paint some place and leave the others so it look nice. S3 doesn't have the right line for it.

But if i get the carbon bonnet and paint it white. then i don't see the point thats all.

and because i have the black grill on the front. so the line or sheap is going to look a bit funny.

So i am not sure what to do. LOL

Agreed, i think it will look a bit max power.

You could always take out the bonnet lining to save a bit of weight and the engaine noise will be louder too.

He's not doing it to save weight, for looks.....weight difference between a standard and carbon bonnet isn't much anyway....if you were weight saving it wouldn't be high up on my list to change...i'd strip most of the interior and sound proofing first.

IMO it'll look rubbish, works on old Jap cars to some extent - each to their own though.

get some black or carbon fibre look vinyl professionally put on to see if you like it, if you don't you can just take it off. It won't cost that much.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Please don't ruin an Ibis S3..... PLEASE!

Carbon fibre doesn't even look nice - looks like the surface of a Tunnocks Caramel bar.

Bare carbon wouldn't be right on an S3, it'd just take all the class out of the car and look like a "The Fast & The Furious" wannabe.

Not a good look.

If it was for a practical reason, like being the last item you'd changed for saving weight, then go for it and paint it to match the rest of the bodywork. But as you're doing it for looks, I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for all the reply. as what you guys points out is what i am worry as well.

well I ask my sound system shop they do painting too. as my plan was going to buy the carbon bonnet and paint it with very thin white paint. but then because white and black won't be as easy as any other colour to make it look nice.

as i was going to make it look white but when close up it will be able to see the carbon. but i guess because the colour of my car its not going to happen.

but still trying to find out a way to do it.

Anyone knows anything like what i am going to do ??

or even understand my poor english??

thanks.

The only way to get the effect that your after is to paint a non lacquered carbon piece, its the weave of the carbon that is uneven which allows you to 'see' the carbon through the paint..

As the osir bonnet comes with a thick layer of lacquer to give the carbon a nice shine I wouldn't imagine that to be possible..

The S3 is a tank, if your trying to save weight take out the rear seats and trims and replace the front seats for some fixed back carbon items, that will save you about 60kg+

Or abandon this fool's errand, sell the S3 and buy a lightweight car in the first place. Big mistake to bastardise an S3 in this way: it will never be lightweight, that's not its aim.

I agree, and that was my point.. The S3 is a good car but its never going to be lightweight, I have gone down the route of lighter exhaust, wheels, suspension etc but thats as far as I will go..

Just think how much fun the S3 would be if it was proper light though - if you could get it down to 900-1000kg....basicly stick the engine in something else.

I've removed my arch liners for proper lightweight stylez....what do I win?

S3Jet... send me a few decent resolution pics of your car and I'll do a few different photoshops on it mate... see what you think.

Carbon highlights here and there look nice (think Pagini Zonda headlight surrounds for instance or even a Clio 197 diffuser) but a whole bonnet, on an S3, no thanks.

Saw the new Renault R26R at the Motor Show and that's got one and it's a special lightweight edition. Still looked naff though.

thanks for the offer. but its ok. one of my friend going to help me to it.

But i give i will just let this one pass.

As i spoke to the guy that paint and do all my car. and he said there aren't anything will paint over the carbon, so colour will look white by far and close up you see the carbon.

One suggestion is to paint the whole bonnet white but leave the two stripes unpainted so that the carbon shows... I still dont think it looks right especially on a white car. The carbon will not show up that dark as per my poor photoshop (actually I used Microsoft Paint)

I plan to do the same to my black car but black on carbon is another story...

Err, I think your bonnet's open, best not drive off and have it tw@t the windscreen.
