Key Fob question

Well collected the new car today

it has 2 key fobs , and was told the second one needed a new battery

sometimes my old vw one was like this but

on replacing it with a new one

it still doesnt work

now i have tried doing the reprogram that the manual says ......with no luck
i have also done a big search on the net

and found about 6 difrent way to reprogram

tried them all with no luck

anyone help out on this ,

That sucks m8, u have probably tried this but here goes, press fob and imediatley stick the key into the drivers lock,turn left/right and leave key for a minute, take key out and try.

Silly thought but have u tried swapping the fob batteries around, at least to eliminate this?

pop the keyfob apart and check the really small print, it will show the frequency numbers, they are 4.34 mhz or something like it, check that both fobs are the same mate.

will try that in the moring

didnt wana swap batteries over case other remote losses programming

will that happen if i do that ????

just checked that they are both
433.92 mhz

Best to try everything before removing the "good" fob battery,just incase.
Does manually inserting the "broken" fob into the door open/close it?
Can you start the engine with it?
Try puting the key in drivers door and open then put key into egnition and turn ignition on/off a couple of times then press lock on the fob.
Did you get the plastic key or the plastic tag when u purchased the car?

still no luck , but i have a mate who is going to check with vag com that the car is seeing the key ,
then he will programme it hopfully

will keep ya informed

Hi jason

That is the best route to go down,you should be able to resync the fob via the car, but the immobaliser will need vag.com and the plastic tag you should have got wiht the car will have a four digit code on it.

I came across a detailed account of "howto" re-sync the fob to get it working , so if you want PM me and ill forward you the info.But if you wanna wait till your mate comes, then hope u get it fixed.
