my new car alarm turns up 2morrow. just 1 question. will i have to disable the factory immobaliser to get this remote start feature to work??

if so, how??

cheers

yes or wire it in-line with the alarm some how, thats what was done to one of my old cars, although it was a stand alone immobaliser not OEM

Problem is the keyfob has the chip inside so you need to get round that aswell cause it wont start until the chip is near the barrel to then activate the ecu to start the car, I'm not sure if vag allows the immo to be disabled, might be a question for the Vag forum, post on there & see if ross-tech replies, explain fully what you wanna do as they might think your a car tealeaf otherwise, lol.

Out of interest dude, which alarm have you gone for and are you going to fit it yourself??

Dont leave it in gear then  .... lol

Does this mean your going to keep the car now then?

Interest??? Why on earth would there be "interest" in a car alarm??? Its a car alarm...:wtf:...could you get any more boring...

Just kidding about with ya Nilz.

Look Tuna Features....an alarm can be very interesting, depending on how you perceive it., now if we look at alarm clocks, you could have a 2in1, eg the standard Audi alarm as your wake up call in the morning....oh forget it, im chatting doodoo!!! :Flush: LOL!!!

Anywaysssss, back on topic, the remote start will be cool, how many divs will you astound, when the car starts up with nobody in there.....phew phew (thats the sound of the red light going across the front of your car) Knight Rider stylee!!!

The usual method assuming that the Alarm is secure is to permanently mount the immobiliser chip out of one of your keys next to the reading coil (ignition switch).

You could also try Revo, at one point they were offering ECU code that bypassed the immobiliser code for Engine transplants etc. Though you would have to prove that it was your motor etc.

Either method bypasses the Audi security, so check with your insurance company, also ensure that the new Alarm is more secure than the Audi security.

Paul

thanks for the replys people.... im still sitting here waiting for city link to deliver it!! the more i think about it the more i want some 1 else to do it!! lol

i also thought about hiding the chip in the dash somewhere also. (from the key) ill have to wait and see what happens. ill prob only get to wire the standerd alarm today at this rate...(do the windows, hazerd flash, remote start another day) hurry the **** up you lazy van driver!! lol

dunno what i was worried about..... wired the lot up other than the remote start!! looked like it was impossable when i opened the box but it was all really straight forward!!
