As above really is it possible and at what sort of cost. I've been looking for an S3 with just the right spec for a couple of weeks and have found a couple with everything I want but no FBMFSW which is a must for me, so is it possible?

Thanx in advance

Can be done. Seen a few threads on here about it. Also seen a few on ebay, there's a guy in Germany that seems to have a regular supply of them.

Cost wise I'm not so sure as I've not done it myself but I think it's in the region of £400-£500.

Guys please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

They pop up on ebay from time to time, usually about the 400-450 pound mark. It will fit all MkII A3/S3's. The ones on ebay usually have the gear change paddles so you would need the blanking plates to cover the place the switches were. The functions need to be programmed using vagcom to work from what I have read here.

There are several members that have done it, im sure they will be along soon (or up out of theirs beds LOL)

I have one now for sale!

Its very easy to fit, just one nut to undo and fit the new wheel on.

I did it on my last S3 as I did not order the FBMFSW but then wished I did!

Thanx for the speedy replies, So its just a case of bolting on, plugging in then enableing with VAG-com

Didnt know you would get covers to cover the paddle holes. I have just replaced my DSG Sline MFSW with a DSG FBMFSW and I have the sline for sale, if audi do covers it will give me more scope when selling

Do you already have a MFSW? I'm not sure if the FBMFSW is just a straight swap if you don't - although somebody else may be able to confirm this. Are there issues with the steering wheel ECU depending on whether or not the car has DIS or cruise or both?

I've not seen any blanking plates in ETKA. There are different part numbers for the DSG and non DGS wheels and I don't think there are blanking plates fitted to the non DSG wheels.

Haven't bought a car yet, still looking for the right one, but I would make sure it had at least the MFSW, so I could swap it if needs be. I can't understand why anyone would order one without the flat bottom, part of what makes the S3 a bit special for me.

I have just looked again and your right. I think the pads are for the front of the wheel, sorry Matt.

Those pads are the things that cover the torx screws that attach the airbag to the steering wheel. My new wheel doesn't have them so I need to order them up - that's how I know what they are.

Am I right in saying the S3 didnt come with DSG or was it an option? Its just that all the wheels seem to be DSG for sale.

From what I understand the choices are DSG or Quattro for all engines except the 3.2 - this is why the S3 doesn't have DSG. Something to do with the engine or transmission layout or something.
