F1... Whos your money on this year?

I agree. I think if he is the one backing Donington then he's going to pull all the stops out for it to be a cracker. Also this is a giant kick up the *** for Silverstone to sort itself out. They've got 10 years to turn it into a world class motorsport event that the UK can be proud of! Bernie has been at them for how many years to sort it all out. Instead they spend £5m on their own club house toilets!

Anyway... quali! That was an interesting one! Great to see Webber up there. Couldn't quite believe it! You could see that Lewis was over driving the car. Trying too hard. I think its interesting how the team reminded him before his 2nd run not to over do it and he said at the end of it that he took out the life off tyres on the OUT LAP so had nothing for his flying lap! You could tell a lot from his body language when he got interviewed. Trying to play it cool saying that he didn't care he was 4th. Course he cares!!! I think the pressure is getting to him to deliver.

Ferrari's seemed to be as sea. Don't know how Kimi got his lap together. My feelings are that hes a little heavier than Heikki. Should be a great race tomorrow! Looking like its going to be a wet one too.

Your right about Lewis, he seems desperate now. I think he has created too much pressure for himself with all this talk of wanting to be a great racing driver and wanting to be like Senna. He has talked the talk, but is not walking the walk (or should taht be driving the drive?). You could clearly see that he was rattled in his interview but instead of saying I made a mistake and I am in a bad position he said everything was ok and tried to put on a front. I think it is too much promo work and not enough focusing on racing, which isn't always his fault.
Kov drove a perfect lap just to show Hamilton just how quick their car is, which must have rattled him as well.
Webber has always been able to get the most out of that Red Bull and it finally looks like the car is starting to fulfil its potential.
Bring on the race later!!!

Totally agree!

Having just looked at the weather, it says it's due to rain at about 2ish. We'll see how that one turns out!

Coss

could be an intersting race, anyone want to bet against webber or alonso ? even button could get in the points.

well........well done Lewis!!!
don't know what Ferrari were playing at with Kimis 1st 'pit stop' regarding not changing his inters
driver decesion? (spelling)

Well Silverstone delivered a thriller! All credit to Lewis! Kept his cool and did what he does best! He had a fastastic start didn't he?! Championship has really hotted up now!

God only knows what Ferrari were up to. I can only assume that they are missing the tactical mastermind that is Ross Brawn. I mean he got Rubens up to 3rd!! Would have been second if it wasn't for the fuel rig! I think Rubens had a fantastic race too. Great to see him up there on the podium again. Massa was at sea all day... litterately!

What did you think of it all Martin? Worth getting wet for? lol

Coss

boy did good, agreed that ferrari made a hash of things, was Massa on slicks :)

Did any one see Rubens at the end of the race when he jumped on his crew to celebrate a very impressive 3rd and nearly got crushed by them and a metal railing?!

Just got back from silverstone, Oh my god what a race, its the first time i've been and I can say it really is the best motorsport race I've ever been too, the whole weekend was amazing, lewis gave a masterclass in wet driving again, and barrichello was amazing too, at one bit he was lapping something like 3 seconds a lap faster than lewis, and to say he started 16th I think he really had a long overdue podium again, for anyone who likes F1 and has never been, go when you can it's brilliant.

Glad you had a good time mate! You picked a great one to go to! Now that you've had a taster, you'll be there every year! I'm going to be going next year based on it being the last one at Silverstone.

That bit with Rubens and his mechanics was quite funny too! lol

Yeah I'll be there next year and probably every year too, I'm not sure about what I think about the donnington move, now I've been to silverstone I think that it is a far better viewing track than donnington and your so close to the tarmac unlike donnington, Is it definate? I seemed to have missed whats been said as Iv'e been at silverstone since thursday.

Its basically a done deal from whats been said. I've never been to Donington but as you say, you're pretty close to the action at Silverstone. They say that they will do a lot of work to Donington. Extend the track, roads in and out of the track, basically knock down the whole pit/paddock and build up a new one. They say that they'll plough in 100m to do so. They've got it for 10 years but Silverstone expect it to all fall through. See what happens I guess. As with anything else nowadays, its all political.

As a track I much prefer donnington, the viewing is much better. Access is shocking though !

I know what you mean its quite a hilly track so you see alot but the parts I've been on it seems so far away from the tarmac compared to silverstone, I agree about access, it's a nightmare.

just a few snaps i took yesturday at the race. i was sat in the pit straight grandstand. took loads and videos too

I suppose taking your camera out in the pouring rain wouldn't have done it any good! You had a cracking view of the podium didn't you?!

yeah was good seats. we always sit in the pit straight. cost us £249 each, plus car park ticket and hotels. well worth it tho. thinking of booking it again this week altho ive been looking into going to other circuits as theres not much price difference in them. obviously id have to get abroad.

Some cracking pictures there mate! What camera did you use? I like the one with Hekki. Hamilton's one is good too (the one below the Ferrari pic).

It's an olympus E-500 , I'm only just learning how to use a DSLR so this is an entry level camera, I was quite pleased with the lewis pic to say i'm behind the fencing taking it, I also got plenty of just plain tarmac, too slow LOL.

Willnaby, are them pics from a web site as there all from different parts of the track.

They are really impressive pictures for entry level. Silverstone tarmac is quite a popular shot to take lol

It looks like the pictures (apart from about 2) are from Luffield... just different position. Probably from the Friday/Saturday as your allowed to roam around.

No mate, I was there from thurs till sunday plus at testing the week before and I took about 400 pics, I moved around as much as I could to get into different positions.:photo: Oh and the one of lewis at the end doing his victory lap with the writing on is just a photo I took of the big screen opposite where I was sat at farm thats why it looks a bit odd.

aha i see. the 2 chicks with the silverstone icon on there asses looks sweet..lol

You gotta love the sound of them engines! :jump:

i was there in 2001 before they changed the engine size and man oh man my ears were ringing for hours afterwards. there pretty quiet compaired now. but still sound awsome. :)

Yea they were awsome! Sounded so raw! Also when they changed up a gear it was like someone punched you in the chest. Proper shockwave! Don't get that anymore with their seamless shifts :bye:

yeah totaly. first time i went to silverstone i thought the cars seemed smaller than id have imagined.

so what u guys think to alonso, do u think he`ll be in a ferrari next year then? seems funny how he`s gonna anounce his team for next year at monza and typicaly thats were ferrari anounce there line up too.

I would think so, it's the only place he'll have a chance at the title again I suppose, he'll fit in there he looks like a horse & he'll have a prancing one on his car , lol.

NO NO NO NO NO! I can't stand the guy! Always moaning when things don't go his way! I really didn't like the way he threw his toys out the pram a couple of years back. I really don't want him to wear red!

Kubica or Vettel however.....

I know what your saying, he is a good driver though at the end of the day , but yes his attitude stinks, I like vettel , very good for his age too.

I like alonso, I don't think he fitted in well with Mclaren becasue of how the team operates, I do believe he made the Mclaren a better car than it was. It would be interesting to see how he copes with Kimi should he still be there at the end of 09. Kimi is quick but only when it suits him.

Oh definately. Cant take that away from him. He's a great driver! Just he blames EVERYTHING but himself when things go pear shaped. Even down to saying that the team aren't focusing on him, leave them and then head back a year down the line!

He did help McLaren and Lewis. No doubt about it. I'm not sure if Kimi will stay you know... IF Alonso goes to Ferrari then he'll want clear No 1 status and he won't be getting that when Kimi is there. I think the No 1 status he's after is the main reason why he didn't like it at McLaren.

Oh ok... another MS hater? Lets take your clips one at a time...

1) You find me a driver in the world - just one - that has a massive lead in a race and then loses it in an accident with another driver regardless of its his fault or not. You'll lose your nut and go and have words with him! I won't go into whos fault I think that was because we'll be here for the rest of time!

2) It will forever be debatable on if he did that on purpose or not. And even if he was being **** Dastardly (as Clarkson put it), you look back in the history of the sport and you'll see that most if not all the greats were ruthless on the track and they would do anything for the win - FACT.

3) You must have had your speakers turned off on this one because even Murray and Martin both said that it was a clean move! DC braked late, turned in to get back on the line and MS was there. Clear cut as that!

So judging by those clips, you don't like Senna much either? He was exactly the same. As I said earlier, to be a great you have to be ruthless. Be it sport or business.

You must have had your speakers turned off on this one because even Murray and Martin both said that it was a clean move! .

hang on a min, i never said i hated shuey. i mearly pointed out that when you said alonso throws his toys out when he cant get his way. i was saying that even poomacher did the same things.

NO NO NO NO NO! I can't stand the guy! Always moaning when things don't go his way! I really didn't like the way he threw his toys out the pram

and as for you saying that martin brundle said it was a clean move then it must have been. did u see when lewis shamilton hit the rear of alonso this year and the first thing martin and james numpty allen said was "alonso definatly lifted." when in fact after renault showed the data of the car, it was in fact shamiltons fault just like it was when funnyly enough he ran into the back of kimi in the pit lane.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbVM-1lfj5o&feature=related

"The incident initially caused some controversy in the paddock, with some suggesting Alonso may have deliberately lifted or ‘brake tested’ his rival – a theory since disproved by Renault who confirmed its driver had accelerated as normal coming out of the corner"

http://myf1blog.wordpress.com/2008/04/07/wing-failure-caused-hamilton-alonso-crash/

anyways no matter how u look at it. shuey kept putting off the anouncement of his retirement until he knew on points he couldnt beat alonso. then he said he was gonna retire. he said in his auto biography (yes ive read it so obviuosly im not another schuey hater) he said that he knew the time had come to retire when someone younger than him was faster on the track and could beat him. and in my book my friend is the actions of a spoilt bratt who if they cant get there own way, they take there ball home.

oh and just to add, alonso was with renault and took them to a winning team and he then won two out right clean world championship fights with poomacker and beat him fair and square twice on the trott. he left that team and went to mclaren and renault was **** then. they couldnt even get into the top 10. unfortunatly he was only with mclaren 1yr so didnt have enought time to turn that team arround as if u recall, that was the team that kimi jumped ship because the car kept blowing up and was ****. hence kimi leaving. now alonso is back with renault, look were they are now. getting back up there. when he left renault, flavio admitted they miss alonso`s input. ron dennis said the same when he left too.

personly i hope alonso goes to ferrari next year were lets face it, he will be. and kimi stays too so we can finaly see who`s the better driver on equal playing fields.

hang on a min, i never said i hated shuey

Really?!

...poomacher...

...schunakkers...

...poomacker...

Could have fooled me! lol

MS made up his mind long before his announcement. They had Kimi all sealed up from the beginning of the season, thats why he couldn't care less how his last season at McLaren went because he knew he was off to Ferrari. MS always said, before his 5th, 6th, and 7th championships that as soon as someone younger and better came on the scene, he'd be off. That to me shows that you're accepting that you wont always be the best and calling it a day at the top of your game. Taking your last championship down to the final race isn't exactly signs of a **** driver now is it? And we all know what state the Bridgestones were when Alonso took both championships. Michelins were the superior tyres!

Alonso always had mediocre team mates until he came up against Hamilton, a complete rookie in his first year in F1. He had his *** handed to him by a 21 year old! What helped Alonso at McLaren was experience. Something which Lewis is lacking this year.

Alonso is a good driver, I'm not denying that. As I said earlier its his attitude I dont like. When things go well, its all him. When they go wrong, its all the team. Whats that about?! Saying that he alone found a second without even mentioning the teams efforts isn't something MS ever did!
