Amd

It was probably not confused, it was just the simplfied way the gentlemen used to explained it to me... I'm not personally a mechanic so i don't know, just say what i'm told..... and speak as i find, that was all this thread was about, to many people want to split hairs a blow it out of context !! The point was that i wasn't happy with AmD, it wasn't whinging, just stating my views, and that Jabba Sport i personally thought were brilliant, from start to finish....

This can be a problem as if you assume whoever telling you something is correct, the same in any industry and how marketing works unfortunately. It's like Tescos say they're better than Asda etc, they both just sell groceries in reality.

I've given up trying to find a simple way to explain some things as you'd end up spending all day describing it, but frequently much you read on the internet in the same way as sales talk from companies is far from good advice or factual, so take everything you read with a pinch of salt in my opinion. Just my 0.02$

Olly, I agree should be closed, AMD have stated there side & some things Leggy didnt advise us of, as I say there are 2 sides to a story not 1

As I always say, I dont favour AMD, I just read the facts & its clear to all to see there seemed to be a power issue before it was tuned so cant see how AMD has provided a bad service & considering a refund of some kind was offered 3 months later & you refuse it, kinda stupidity cause you could have passed this on to someone else for an amount & I'm sure Shaun would have honoured that, this way you would get most your money back, even though I cant see where AMD have faulted you through the whole process.

Lastly why wait 3 months, if was me & I think most others who have had tuning done, if it wasnt right I'd be back there same/next day & my tuner is an hour or so away, so saying about how far away they are is irrelevant & so is WHINGEING about being picked up, thats called splitting hairs, its part & parcel of having these things done to your car, no point complaining about it, you should have gone back & got it looked at then if cant be done get a refund then, not months later.

I would suggest you ring Shaun, agree to disagree & come to an understanding/agreement on the matter & stop complaining about AMD's work when clearly they have acted very professionally, at the end of the day, you want your money back, there is a possibility you would get most back, make the effort swallow your pride & get it sorted, dont be stupid & childish about something that is actually partially your own fault, it takes a bigger man to admit there faults, maybe its about time you did as we all have at some moment in time.

Nigel i think that if you had actually read the thread you would notice it was left to die, and leggy hadn't commented on it, or waited 3 months to bring this back up again and chase a refund like people keep stating, this was only brought back to life by Shaun who was obviously concerned and then he politely offered a credit note, Leggy is only stating his views about what happened and as for the problems which he didn't say about, they are a completely different matter, it had two problems which were fixed, maf & a sensor..... the car ran well, i had been in it, but it had occurred intermittent problem with it over boosting causing it to go into limp mode occasionally, by this time he had the map on there a while and obviously found out more about the car and possibilities of having a custom map and thought he wouldn't get a refund even dubious whether the map was at fault, by having the jabba map it has solved the problem as it was boosting at 1.9 bar there were NO other problems.... so obviously it was the map at fault and he hasn't had a problem since, but he hasn't been on here ranting and raving about getting a refund... he asked when you convinced him to call a couple of months ago thats it.. as for whingeing don't all the little problems about waiting etc... all add to customer satisfaction in a whole?

I think that you guys are blowing it a bit out of proportion now and making him look like he didn't know what he was on about, the fact is he was only saying that the map AMD put on the S3 was causing problems which was then fixed by jabba with just a custom map, All the other problems were fixed by AMD.

As for my problems i have spoke to Shaun too and he has been very good making me a very good offer, of which i might be returning too take him up on! I think Shaun's a top bloke to even offer me or leggy anything this long after but this thread at the start was about his experiences with AMD and the mapping done and not about chasing a refund as people keep saying.

I don't think there is sufficient grounds to keep this thread, it will be deleted in due course as it serves no purpose to other members about the company, it only highlights your own lack of knowledge

I think we should keep this thread open mate, both sides of the story have now been stated. So everyone can make there own opinion after reading both sides.

Well for my 2 pence worth i think that leggy is entitled to his opinion and reference to his experiences of AMD and i think that shaun has been pretty fair with the offer of a credit note. Not a perfect solution for either party but a ****** good compromise ! Now if leggy doesnt want that credit note pop us a PM and ill give you my address shaun !!!! Lovely jubbly

Hey Olly your call but I think Leggy needs to satisfy himself & forget his pride & give Shaun a ring, agree to disagree on things & come to an aimcable solution as I think its stupid to turn down the credit note, he could easily do a deal with someone who wants some work done at AMD, that would resolve the issue full stop.

Budgy for the record I read it from start to finish several times so what I comment on is not complete ********, AMD have acted in a very professional manner.

With more patients & common sense, I, IMHO think Leggy would have got what he wanted in the beginning from AMD, wouldnt you agree, he could have at least given them a better chance to resolve & you yourself have said Shaun is a top bloke, I personally wouldnt have left it as long as he did to go back to AMD & Shaun threw a few more bits of info on the matter which I think showed the sincerity & professionalism of there work, in my eyes I think Shaun has acted very well & courteously towards leggy, I cant fault them & I dont exactly have shares in the company, lol.

Come on leggy, swallow your pride, bite your tongue, ring Shaun, sort it out & move on, simple, hey if Shaun would honour anyone using the CC then sell it to someone else & then you get most your money back, simple no???

Sorry I changed my mind, I actually think leave it open, I'd like to see Leggy resolve amicably with Shaun & post results.

I Agree, Agree to disagree and move on just put it down to experience let shaun do what he can to resolve your issue take whats fair and then forget it. you dont have to use them again !!
Best of luck to you both and hopefully we can all see an amicable resolution to this

Nigel this post is not about how professional AMD acted, it's about leggy voicing his opinion that the map was causing his car to over boost, I think people have a right to voice there opinions on here, thats what forums are for....Information of peoples experiences, It's not about Leggy chasing a refund, Shaun was the one who offered him the credit note he didn't go chasing it, but he will be a fool not to accept it!!!

I think we should keep this thread open mate, both sides of the story have now been stated. So everyone can make there own opinion after reading both sides.

Haha, who owns the server this site is run on...........it USED to be AMD, IIRC......
is it "new AMD" that own it now!! ??
If so no wonder it's threatened with closure and deletion!! LOL

Also, sort of have to ask (as has been asked on similar threads ref other tuners too) if there is a known fault with a car, one that the tuner reports, why put a map on it until it's 100% clearly fixed......?

Now I went to another tuner to have an interim map done on the s3 prior to going BT, just to put a bit more stick thorugh the drivetrain to highlight any weak points.
After 5 hours of various tweaked generic maps, they took it all off and put it to standard as the car was overboosting, due to what turned out to be a sticking wastegate.
5 hours work, many generic maps, tweaked and road tested at least 6 times, then all removed, put back to original map and no charge at all for any of the work.

Plus was given proper advice on how to drive the car in order not to damage anything before wastegate could be sorted, as even on stock 0.9 bar map, it could have caused damage.
MAybe being idealistic to expect that service from all tuners, but I was disappointed not to get the map, but extremely pleased with the overal service, (I was almost embarrased when they refused anything at all cash wise).

Strange this question never arose on the "Backdraft thread", and they are site sponsors!!

HA HA, never new that mate, i hope the server is now independent of any tuning company. A forum like this should have peoples experiences both good and bad with any company, its that sort of freedom of speech that allows people to do research on the net and make there own choice on who to use.

So you know its called a THREAD not a post, a POST is what I am writing/written, just so you know, & I think its spelt Touche (I had to google it) lol, lol

Anyway back to this, where did I say he couldnt voice his opinion on here, if I have then I apologise sincerely, but I'm almost sure I havnt.

Yes everyone's entitled to an opinion which is the whole point of a forum as you so kindly pointed out.

I've never stated it was about him chasing a refund, I am discussing the manner of his comments, I dont think his actions are neccessarily as fair as he would imply, I was just stating if it had an issue originally then it would be only fair to allow them to deal with all the issues, did you say AMD fixed the 2 issues for him of the temp sensor & MAF as I same as Simch do also wonder why map it with the issues at hand, Leggy/Shaun well?

I'm glad we agree on "yes he would be stupid to turn it down", which he has actually already done, I am trying to persuade him to swallow his pride & make the call so its resolved amicably, I dont think it should be left as is, now thats Leggy's choice of course, but money is on the table as far as we can all see, he should take what he has been offered.

I have to agree, were the faults fixed by AMD & then it was mapped, does beg the question that maybe Shaun can clarify for us or Leggy???

I'd say we all wish the tuners were like that but alas fraid not, who was that again you went to with that 5 hour unsuccessful map?

I think Shaun & Leggy maybe acted in haste & anger, I think if Leggy made the call or PM's his number to Shaun they could sort it out, nothing is impossible & I think its simple solution, be shame to walk away from possibly a near full refund, damn if he dont want it can I have it???? lol, lol.

I wont mention the specifics or they may be inundated with people with problem cars looking for free diagnosis!! But they are a reputable VAG Tuner and were very helpful and could have easily charged me for their time, if not the software.

Wind your neck in.

Servers have never been owned by AmD, its hosted with a normal public hosting company. The website was owned by a guy at the OLD AmD and was always run independently from the shop.

Now, Audi-Sport.net is run by ME and I don't have any loyalties when it comes to tuners. I don't benefit from anything the tuners offer as I don't even own an Audi.

I'm all for threads staying up alerting users/people to potential problems with tuners, but this thread is just so trivial over a ****** generic map that probably cost £200

lol, good point, I'm intrigued though, if you can PM the tuners please mate, I wont post it honest.

What's with the "wind your neck in" comment!? Are you off Eastenders or something!?

Oh and £200 for a bit of 5 year old code........? If it is crap (not saying it is, but if it is and can cause other running problems) then it is worse than flushing it down the toilet!

£200 may not be a lot to you, but it is more than most want to waste!

I dont remeber you threatening to close the thread when it was originally running, only when AMD come on here many weeks later! I just wondered why bearing in mind the site used to be something to do with AMD. And you also say its "so trivial"...? Why get involved with threatening to close it if it is so trivial? And why no similar potential intervention on the "Backdraft" thread?

no im not off eastenders.....its what I say to all chavs.

Closing a thread is not a threat....its stops all this random ******* drivel and 6 pages of utter ****.

Your banned from replying to this thread, you've obviously got nothing to offer it (or the whole site if i'm honest)

Have to say being fair I have seen Olly do this on thread or 2 for very good reasons, if the thread goes of track of the original discussion & results in arguments & animosity then he's right to intervene before it becomes worse, afterall its a forum to be friendly, polite as possible & respectful to eachother, sometimes it doesnt work that way huh as we all know, this thread has gone up & down, but I think its calmed down a bit & should be left open, but its not my forum now is it, so its in Olly's hands.

Good this has THREAD (sorry Nigel, lol) has gone down hill in the last couple of hours....

I think that this should be left open and if Olly wants to intervene he can delete all irrelevant POSTS (Nigel I'm getting good at this now!) There is info on here that some people might find useful, it might look like AMD were the bad guys at the start but i think that the fact that Shaun came on here with a good will gesture will fill people with confidence should they decide to use them..

Other than that i think that everybody should put there handbags away and start doing what people are on here for, helping each other and and not getting on each others back.....

Thank god Dave B's not about anymore!! LOL

:haha::haha: budgie, lol, nah fair play you come back with a smile (I think??)

why what happned to Dave B? (missed that one sorry)

Nah I dont think its gone down hill at all, just strong opinions & misunderstandings maybe but still relevant, this forum is teaching me restraint if anything which is good for me, lol, lol.

I agree with what you say, I have a lot of respect for Shaun's attempt to appease Leggy & I think you are right, it did look like AMD were the badboys but with ALL the facts I think its fair to say they are a good company & maybe Leggy should have taken it back to be resolved, but its his car & I'm certainly not the one to tell him to do anything, just politely suggest.

But I bet if AMD had resolved, that Leggy would be over the moon with it, just the one choice in life makes so much difference to other events huh, lol.

He's happy though with his JS map, so I'm happy for him, hope he takes the offer aswell.

& as for you budgie :beerchug:

lol, nigel yes it was supposed to humour you! I'm always smiling!

dave bayern was well known for his argumentative self and his opinions.... He has now sold his a3 for a m3 and not heard from him since!

Ohhhh yeah I remember I think was him mentioning about the M3, so his turned to the dark side, his loss, I hate BMW's, very lack lustre I test drove the older M3 evo when was looking for new car 2 years back or so & was so let down by it, got back in my mapped S3 & god blew the M3 away with drivability & overall feel, M3 seemed sluggish & just **** to me, has he stumped up for the new M3 then?

I bought the B6 S4 Avant instead of BMW & god except for the fuel was a brilliant car, loved it & still miss it today but 16mpg was just to much & made me guilty about the climate aswell, having an S3 265bhp & a S4 365 bhp on drive makes you think urrm not very green & waste of money I think as never used as much as I used to.

God that S4 was good in many ways

Hi

First of all, I re-offer the credit note that has to be accepted today and today only. I would like to read the file out of the vehicle to check it has been remapped and not another problem fixed.

Considering we weren't given the chance to check the car before it went elsewhere in the first place I think this is fair.

If it becomes another slagging match the offer is rescinded again. A polite "no thank you" will suffice.

Secondly we have nothing to do with the running or ownership of this site. We have only recently re-advertised on here. I have met Olly once and have not spoken to him for over a year.
Having run clubs and championships over the years, and known the grief involved, somebody who puts effort into something for members benefit gets my full respect and should receive the same from the members.

Thirdly, we believed the car was fixed when we mapped the car. We also spend countless hours checking cars with faults and we have sent cars away without mapping them if they have faults which the customer does not want us to fix.

I had no intention to create grief between members on here by returning to this thread. Anybody who runs their own business will know that negative comments regarding the fairness, quality and capability of their company/staff cuts deep. Especially when not all the facts are being offered.
When I was made aware of this thread, which was started before the customer had even spoken to us or we knew he had a problem, I felt I should make our side of the situation known.

Lastly, we are a company who had a loyal customer base from before we took over AmD nearly 2 years ago. I personally have been involved in VW motorsport and tuning since the 70's (I'm not that old, just started young!) We have worked hard to repair the AmD name since we bought it and, in my opinion, we have done this successfully.

As an example I have looked at bookings and over the next 2 days we have the following Audis booked in- S3 (for a diff/clutch), A4 (timing belt), RS4 (map/full exhaust), TT (remap+dv+filter) and A6 (remap+dv+filter). This about 30% of the total VAG work booked in.

I will let our customers decide whether to use our services or not but I won't let our company name be tarnished without good reason. And if there is good reason I will do what I can to get it sorted but I do not subscribe to the theory that the customer is always right (or me for that matter!).
Regards

:applaus::applaus:
Thats a very fair analysis of the situation(again I dont have shares in AMD) as I always say there are 2 sides to every story, IMHO I think your side was exactly the way I expect a professional & competent tuning company to act, I think maybe a little more patients & less haste by Leggy & he would have been overjoyed with AMD's success on his car.

But saying that this is a forum & he's fully entitled to express his views & Shaun has advised us of the whole story so we can all judge via both of these if we want to use AMD.

So Leggy, swallow your pride, call Shaun mate, take the hand, shake it & accept the offer, Shaun would you allow someone else to use the CC if he didnt want to use it himself then he gets some money back in hand, thats gottta be a solution for all, shouldnt matter to you who uses no?? Then he's hopefully happy he didnt lose out.

Lastly based on AMD's comments & attitude, I for one will definitely use AMD again, I seriously cant fault them at all.

Hey Shaun if i say your crap on a thread and slag you off abit can i have a free re map ????????? LOL :moa::p:salute:

I do appologise that i haven't been on here for the last couple of days to make my comments....
As i said before it was an intermittent fault, i did return to AmD as i explained and had to leave my car with them and train to London, and then to home.... Which i believe gave them plenty of time to have my car running sweet, i was told when i picked the car up 2 days later it was all fixed and running sweet.....obviously not.... which is why i thought i was wasting my time so i tried a new company which just so happen to be Jabba !
And like i said, no more problems..... so think as you will !!

And Nigelhobden....there's no need to keep playing match maker because i'm a big boy now....thankyou !!!!! It's not about swallowing my pride so give it a rest......:keule:

A most interesting read "viva la forum" . TBH if i had the time and the words per minute to match, i could write a novel along these lines (not with any of the tuners mentioned here i hasten to add) the game of tennis that i have experienced, the mappers, the tuners, the engine builders, the f**king candle stick makers every one looks for someone else to blame when the **** hits the fan.
