Audi TT-RS

This mule is reportedly running reliably with 380+ hp and ± 450Nm of torque.

If it is true then I doubt we ll be seeing it this decade considering Audi only produces 1 RS model at a time and theres been news of a RS5 already lined up and the new RS6 has only recently been put into production.

wouldnt an RS3 just be a 'small ****' car?? ;)

I would happily be branded a 'small ****' to have a 350 brake hot hatch.
Getting it to sounds like the old Group B S1's - that would be the dream!

Good point, unless they change there way with the production of RS model cars that is..

Seems like the engine transplant idea could be the only way;)

Ill have a play with this engine first:)

I can't get excited about a TT is any guise, RS or not. It'd be interesting to see how Audi approached an RS3 though. Can't help but think it could end up being a bit of a ridiculous car though, i mean how HOT can a hatch be?! I think the S3 is on the limit for what i'd pay for an 8P format car so god knows what they'd charge for an RS3. Step too far i recon.

I think they have to. BMW make the M3, M5 and the M6 at the same time. Audi are just limiting their own sales.

Not to mention Z4 M coupe and the fact you can get everything with M packs on now.

I think a TTRS will happen next year.

True, but the cost could be a sticking point.

agree the price would end up being ridiculous....

price wise maybe but I don't necessarily think the same for power, some people have got much more than the std output and the transmission etc seems fine at coping

I think the thought of a 35k hatchback puts people off more than it should. We have sports cars that range from low to super specs and saloons that go sky high. We even have very large cars like the 7 series and A8 with huge power outputs.

If it's good for small 2 seater and large 5 seaters why not huge power in an A3?

The TT-RS will certainly be put into production, but not for at least two years as the RS models tend to come out near the end of a current models life. The 2.3 V5 engine will be a gem I'm sure of it, 5 pots always sound lovely, and if Audi can get the driving dynamics right they could have a potential Cayman beater.

They do have a habit of overpricing the RS range though, the RS6 is £10k more than the M5 and C63, and let's be honest here, BMW and Mercedes are both more prestigious than Audi despite what the fellas at Inglostadt would have you believe.

Its straight 5 not a V... :p

All reports I have seen say V5.. (suppose there all speculation at the moment)

It would make sense from a packaging point of view though..

Didn't watch the video before as was at work.

It sounds fantastic and looks pretty tasty too...

"all the reports"? I've not seen one mention a V5. The engine is a developement of the new straight 5 2.5 used in the US Jetta not the old 2.3 V5.

Cupramax, care to make a wager that it'll be a 2.3 V5 turbo that goes in the TT-RS?

I agree with you on the sound 5 cylinders does sound awesome.
Compete with the Cayman, not in a million light years, Cayman chassis is far superior to the TTS, I have driven both recently and although the TTS is easier to live with It drives pants, no comparison. The TT-RS will completly out price itself, the TTS is way over priced and not worth the money., , so how much will the RS be ????
