Hi,

i bought a vag-com USB to serial cable and software from ebay but the feature to reset my service interval (as light is currently on) is not available.
I believe i need to register it to get this feature???

Can anyway one help me to reset my interval without doing usual turn ignition on sequence as this doesn't work?

Thank You

buy the proper vagcom kit not the cheap **** of fleabay then you will have full access to all the options, I've been down this road myself way back & glad I stopped being a cheap skate & bought the proper kit, yes for other options you need to register which for software license is what $100 or so but you are still restricted to certain version given the lead you have & those leads tend to go wrong very very quickly, but IMHO buy the proper kit & you will always have the latest version & newest cable along with free support.

Hi Nigel,
cheers for the words of advise.
I am going to look into getting the proper kit then as i am bound to want to use it for other stuff.

Thank You

well based on hourly rates of £100 per hour at most stealers u can think of it as 2-3 hours of stealers labour which these days gets you sod all from them as they string it out, you get the convenience of making changes to your car by yourself when you want, fault diagnosing etc etc, you wont find a ross-tech buyer that would ever regret it, but you can buy direct from www.ross-tech.com takes 3 days via fedex I think so if you can wait then its cheaper from them even with customs charge, if you need now & impatient goto gendan, ross-tech have always been reliable for the delivery so you know if your worried about receiving from the US, let us know when you have it & anyone on here with vag will help you when you need, even vag are on here for you, lol, cool huh, its like your own little workshop, lol.

Yeah that's what i was thinking, bleeding con artists.

I will look into getting it from Gendan then.

Cheers again

I've got a genuine HEX-USB+CAN and it's the nuts... I've only ever done little bits and bobs with it for people, but it's already more than paid for itself...

A mate of mine has an R32 and every time it went in for a free service (a deal he got) the VW dealer used to explain there was something on its way out that would cost him a few quid in the near future... Now he leaves a print-out from my laptop on his passenger seat when he takes it in so they know he's aware of what is and isn't wrong with it. Strangely the free services went back to being free...

I had a home-built lead before my genuine bad-boy; and while I had a reasonable amount of success with it, it was by no means perfect. There would be odd communication issues every now and again and of course an old shareware version is a lot more limited in what it can do compared to the latest VCDS.

Regards,

Rob.

you don't need vagcom to reset the service indicator - it can be done by using the two small black buttons on the speedo display, there is a guide here somewhere on how to do it

yeah but its a real pain in **** as sometimes doesnt work, lol, but your right it does work with patients.

VW Audi Seat Skoda Code Reader

Fault Code Reader for Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda (1996-2008)

is that any good for £40 quid

Big second on this one - don't buy crap. Ross-Tech spent 10 years+ on developing this. Why let ebay fleabags cash in on their hard work?

Spend the money - It'll pay you back faster than you know!

Best,

Ram
