Right guys, after a good giggle on the strip @ Inters I thought I would organise a day out at Santa Pod on a RWYB (Run What Ya Brung) day around end of August (most probably 31st).
Obviously the GTI owners will be coming, along with Leon Cupra owners and will hopefully have a nice group for a TFSI shootout! Already have a few names down..
You don't have to be a 1/4 mile expert and it's all for a good laugh no matter what time you get, modded or standard, so anyone can come and should

.
So basically if interested stick your name on here..

I'm game. I'll come if loads of other ppl do.

Has to start somewhere mate.. Already have a few names as I say, they will confirm once online..

I'm interested too...
Be good to compare GTI's/Cupra's and S3's

I'd be interested in this...

btw, the Edition 38 Show is the 30th & 31st August.

Ah.. Well date isn't final yet, as waiting to see what weekend is best for everyone. RWYB is on every 2 weeks pretty much, so plenty of dates available. Just getting numbers first...

I am well up for it, been several times in my G40 and my A3, can't get enough of the pod action but also can't get the A3 to pass that 1/4mile mark faster than 14.44secs!

Would be interested if it was a different date. Fly out on holiday on the 31st August.

VTEC - that's a pretty good performance gain, from just a Milltek and a REVO remap? The ED30 is a slightly remapped standard 2.0TFSI isn't it? 230bhp standard? So do all 2.0TFSI's (197bhp) with a Milltek and REVO/map increase to the c320bhp mark ??

No, the ED30, similar to the Cupra R, has effectively got a detuned version of the S3 engine which has the larger K04 turbo, rather than that in the 197bhp engine, plus reworked cylinder heads etc.

Over 300bhp is available on the ED30 with just a remap, and a Milltek will add around 15bhp more. On the standard 197bhp engine you'd be looking at more like 250bhp with a remap and up to 270 with the exhaust also.

Thats remapped.

Dropping the clutch at 5500rpm and letting the quattro do its work!

Thats not a bad time from just a remap, going down to the pod soon so will aim for that!

Off topic- but did you used to have a Polo? Sure I used to speak to you on the PVW forum? Your reg plate got me thinking...

Ah i remember you, you had the Grey Mk4 yeah?

I had the silver polo with A8 OLO reg plate.

Cootie - Many thanks for that. That would explain it ! Very impressive all the same.

With 320bhp I guess that'd drop the 0-62 time down to sub 6s, which can't be sniffed at. As a comparison I had an S4 which was damn quick (c5.7s) with 344bhp, but a bigger/heavier beast altogether (Quattro though)...

Do you know whats the best 1/4 mille time for Stock S3? Can it go 14.0 ?

I got a time recorded last week at 14.2 and it was a shoddy run (My first and last ever) so im guessing in the hands of a good driver, yes.
