Well done Audi, firstly it arrives in an Audi van which was impressive as my colleague got a Mercedes C class last month and the guy drove it from Cambridge to Manchester for him so was mucky and had 200 miles before he even got to drive it!

Thoughts on the car, impressive can see the better build quality straight away, handling is superb even with the 18's on, the little engine is punchy through the rev range, and the paintwork is swirl free!!!

Glad I ordered the BOSE I know some people don't rate it too much but compared to what I had its fantastic!

Wish I could of spent more money on options, such as the interior lighting package (deffo a retrofit!). Also the storage option as theres very little space to put anything, but thats because I'm use to my old car.

Overall one satisfied Audi customer ....... for now :sm4:

Anyway off to bed that little engine in

Mine was ordered on the 30th of Jan so know how you feel!!! Sure you will enjoy it when it arrives :laugh:

What good timing - I've been considering the 1.4TFSI today since paying 125.9p per litre for diesel when 95ron petrol is "only" 112.9p per litre.

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the engine. Oh, and photos are a must!

Don't worry I will get some posted on Sunday evening as I'm driving over to Nottingham tomorrow for my stag do :jump:, so should be able to put the car through its paces and see what this engine is really like.

Had my little 1.4T for 3 months now and its great around town i tend to get 36ish mpg and on a decent run around 41-43 mpg and push it a little and it goes like an older 2 litre.
Luv the turbo noise at low speed, luv the exhaust note. luv the fuel economy and luv the road tax.

As for the stag do went very well, covered in bruises, won at the casino and was out til 4:30am so drunk that I could no longer see! :w00t:

Its good, has a nice bit of pull all the way to redline which supprised me a little, engine is very quiet and refined until you get upto 4k then the exhaust note takes over and sounds very good.

6th gear is deffo only for cruising, mind you I was trying to put my foot down at 50mph up hill with 4 men in the car lol, serioulsy though I've found that I drop it down a cog on the motorway but in 5th it has no probs.

For me its a lot faster than my last car but don't expect the push in the seat like you would get off a bigger turbo'd car!

Already I've fitted some silve indicator bulbs, and will be oredering some upgraded headlight bulbs. Have also just ordered a K & N panel filter to help with the breathing esp as I will be getting it remapped as soon as it becomes available!

Future plans will include retro fitting the interior light so it includes map lights and the ambience light and some aluminium pedals, and hopefully the rear lights out the new facelift model.

I don't think that is the correct engine unit listed in Wimmers site. Most probably the old 1.4 unit unless I am reading those figures incorrectly.

I notice you are in Istanbul...have you tried calling BTG Maslak there? They specialise in tuning and are the distributors for Superchips in Turkey. Try calling them on 05323358810. They say that they are still waiting on a map being developed for the engine but have had VERY impressive gains from the 1.4 TSI VW unit so it looks promising.

1.4L TFSI92kw 125PS 200Nm22kw / 30PS 270 Nm995 €i think this is our engine. i've been using wimmer for quite sometime and am very happy with their products. i'm just waiting until the remap for the 1.4tfsi is more widespread with many examples around. a guy with a 1.4TSI (170hp) blew his turbo after a remap couple of months ago and the service guys wouldn' fix it because of the remap. he had to pay tons. soo...i'm not sure :D

also there are many horror stories about superchips around here, some from people i know. so i won't be using them. ever.

btw: there was a campaign in turkey couple of years ago trying to get people to have their headlights on 24/7. they called it "see, be seen, avoid accidents". thats why many people have their lights on during the day, including me (they're not xenons though). in norway its mandatory to have your lights on all the time, otherwise you get fined.
 
Hi fella. Yes sorry about that. It does indeed seem that this is the unit. I will be considering it but as you say I want to see some more examples before I decide to go ahead with the idea. Reasonable power pains and pretty much what I was expecting. Do these guys have a branch in Istanbul?

Also, in reference to the driving-with-lights-on thing, I was talking about the young male Murat 131 Turkish generation who seem intent on driving around with fake xenon lights intent on blinding everything in front of them. It seems to be completely unrelated to safety as the very same drivers fly around the roads wearing no seat belts and displaying complete disregard for the safety of other road users. It is indeed a rather stupid and pointless fashion that I will not be engaging in.

By the way, where did you learn your good English and what do you do in the Istanbul? Did you buy your car from Dogus?
 
So they can remap the 1.4T to 155PS with 270Nm torque, pretty much what I'd expect from the engine. Could be onto a great everyday allrounder if they manage to keep the TFSI's wide torque band as well, I'd estimate with that engine setup it can propel the A3 from 0-62 in around 7.7/7.8s with the the torque advantage over the 1.8T and the new aerodynamic underbody of the new A3's which is pretty damn nippy for a 1.4T badge.

i'm still undecided whether to do the remap (if available ofcourse) as the dealers here tend to remove the warranty for virtually everything if they find out the car has had a remap. i may be able to slip by thanks to friends but its a gamble.

yeah the idiots will always be idiots. i'm against aftermarket xenons alltogether just for that reason. they don't give off proper light and they blind everyone. as for turkish drivers...nothing to be said. they buckle their seat belts behind their backs, buy extra buckles so the car wont beep all day...its their own life so i dont care. just as long as you look around at the intersections allthough its a green for you :)

i'm a pilot with turkish airlines. i learned english in the US and norway quite a few years back. yes, i got my car through dogus, but at a good price thanks to a friend. it was the last red 1.4 tfsi in turkey at the time :)

to get back on topic, is it me or does the DIS show an overly optimistic milage, especially for short term readings? (around 1 tankfull)
 
btw, i agree its a great car, i'm especially impressed by the very controlled but comfy suspension, the build quality and the superb engine. would be more superb with a remap of course ;)

does anyone know if i can retrofit a bose subwoofer?
 
I'm sure you would be able to retrofit a subwoofer if you had the parts. A pm is on its way to you sir

To fit the BOSE subwoofer I think you will also need the BOSE amp and maybe a new patch lead for the radio, I'd of thought someone will have done a retrofit! The BOSE is good esp when you get it really cranked up!

As for remaps I'm hoping REVO will bring something out, need something that is switchable as need to turn if off when it goes in for service etc.

Just waiting for a K&N filter to help with the breathing, only a panel filter but got to be better than the paper effort!

i was also sure someone would have, but can't find it around here. i'm sure it would cost me an arm and a leg if i try to source the components from here. maybe an aftermarket sub that will fit in the OEM Bose space? is the Bose subwoofer in the left side of the trunk as with the 8Ls?

there used to be an AndyMac around who did aftermaket subs for the 8Ls but i couldnt reach him.

i dont think a panel filter really does anything. if you're looking for a nice sound go for a cone filter, AEM makes a dry one so it doesn't muck up your MAF. but don't expect any power from them.

i also would LOVE a switchable remap...dream dreams...
 
When you say AEM makes one do you mean specifically for the 1.4 T? If so do you have a link?

The sub does go in the rear left of the car if you need part numbers let me know, also have part numbers for the amplifier, just depends on whether its a 2dr or 4 dr.

no its a generic type, but is very easy to install on any car. VAG cars have problems with their MAFs so its best not to take chances. i have some friends using this filter and they are quite happy with it.

if you want a cold intake, you can make it yourself using flex tubing and some heat shielding. i don't like normal CAIs because i'm always afraid its going to suck water into the engine during a rainstorm. i used to have a pipercross venom (pretty good piece of kit by the way) and kept disconnecting the airfeed during winter just to be safe. didn't notice any difference either :)

i have 3dr :) i'd be very happy if you could give me the part numbers. i'm also trying to find out if the brakes on our cars are the same with the 1.6L cars. could you find that out as well?

thanks a lot mate. so i actually need 9 speakers + sub + amp. i guess it would be stupid to try. maybe just the sub. i wonder if the subwoofer has the amp built in or if it uses the main amp...
 
If your going for BOSE then I think its only the main speakers that are BOSE as theres two part numbers one for std and one for BOSE, the tweeters and middle-speaker only have one part number.

Guessing you would also need a wiring loom for the amp unless its already there.

Found out that to work out what disc you have, you need to look at the sticker in the boot, tells you all the options on your car, for mine it had the code 1ZE which when cross refrenced with ETKA comes back as having:

Front discs: ventilated 288x25mm 5/112 part no. b 1K0 615 301 T
Front pads: b 5K0 698 151.

Code 1KD
Rear discs: solid 255x10mm 5/112 part no. b 1K0 615 601 K
Rear pads: b 1K0 698 451 J

i've finished the running in period (1500km) and started giving it the stick today. it's totally wierd how the car seems to have the same thrust at 2000rpm as it has at 5000?!? theres no increase or decrease in performance, just feels like the same old thing. is ti same with all 1.4TFSI? or do i need to run it in some more :yes:
 
Its pretty much the same all the way up the rev band acts more like a bigger 16v engine then a little engine with a turbo, to get the best out of acceleration esp on motorways I find it best to be sat at about 3.5k seems to be right on the power there, catches a few of the 2.0TDi A4's by suprise esp the ones that like being right up my rear bumper! :w00t:

Just got my K&N filter today, quite impressed as its not a panel filter its in fact a cylinder filter that fastens to the intake so in theroy its like an induction kit, with only a short bit of pipe before the turbo and no airflow sensor in the way you can actually leave the lid off, makes the engine sound a bit beefier too, also the bottom half of the airbox has a cold air feed coming from the front grill so couldn't ask for a better setup, will try and get some pictures up once it stops raining!

you can be sure theres an air sensor (MAF).its further down the pipe nearer the intake manifold. when new theres no problem with the K&N (i've used them before). just don't over oil them after cleaning.

4 months with my 1.4T now and for me it's great, 37mpg knocking about to and from work and 43mpg has been the best on a run with it, 2500 miles now and its great.
Good fuel economy, cheap road tax and for a 125PS it goes very very well and has surprised a few boy racer drivers who think they will get the better of an A3 when they see the 1.4 badge on the back. Stick it in 3rd at about 2000 rpm and as they go to come past floor it and it usually leaves them scratching in the middle of the road :haha::haha::haha::haha::yahoo::yahoo:
 
:iagree: Just hope the little 1.4 is a tough engine as I reckon I'll be close to doing 30k a year in it! Already got 4.5k on it and its only 4 weeks old!
 
i totally agree about the economy. not so much with the boy racers, as they have to be in a 1.6 astra or something if i want to shock them.

i'm sure the engine will outlive the car if it's left std. emphasis on if :)
 
IF being the right word, so long as I can get a switchable remap that Audi will not detect then I will be getting it done, 1.4 hitting 60 in 8 seconds will be like the old R5 Turbo days!

Only concern is the turbo doesn't look too big, just hope it will be ok with a boost increase!

Just been to a local Independant VX workshop to pay for my daughters VX Corsa MOT and as the daughters boyfriend works there i stopped for a natter.

An 08 Corsa SRI was sat in there with a totally destroyed engine and the story went :-

19 year old lad bought it brand new on finance :(

Insurance was through the roof :(

Had the engine remapped :(

Blew it to bits 2 weeks later :(

Vauxhall walked away from it because of remap :(

19 year old now looking at big bill £3500 for new engine fitment :(

Independant VX dealer will not start until £2000 deposit paid :(

19 year old SKINT :(:(:(:(:(

Right then let's here it. Who will be remapping their car once a chip is available and who will be leaving it alone? Do you feel the performance is enough as it is at the monet or do you feel the need to boost power further.

I don't like the thought of having fiddled with an expensive car. But then again...
