Why don't you convert your S3 to LPG.

Then you keep the performance and save money on fuel costs, also save the world! Only about £2k to convert.

As for diesels being cheaper to run, its nearly even'd itself out now due to the cost of diesel. I know there is still a slight difference but so good anymore.

New diesels are getting quicker but pound for pound in all area's the S3 ****'s on a 170 TDi.

Yeah, but he's said his is chipped to 200bhp, didn't he?
So knock a second off, that's it down to 6.8s.
Add in someone who can't launch an S3 properly (many people are scared they'll trash their clutch), and you've got a race.

true but have you seen what they have to do to launch the cars for those figures?

Not sure if the 535d has the same bi-turbo unit as the 335d. All i know is that the 335 diesel is rated as one of the best engines BMW have ever made and i can assure you it doesn't sound like a tractor, just loads of low grunt, whistling turbos and enough torque to push you through the back window.

My previous 'mapped' 335D Touring, would beat my 'mapped' S3to 60 and 100 and beyond, in gear was just ridiculous, but just not involving enough
