Hey

Apart from being blown around all day by the wind I thought it was great, some really cool cars there to look at and some impressive runs on the sprint!!..

Thanks to the guys for the drive down, was good fun and good to put faces to names etc..

Jonny :sm4:

Have you got any vid's of the sprints for us peeps who couldn't make it mate?

Thanks

p

I reaaly enjoyed it :icon_thumright:

Nice to meet you all for the run down. Also Met Jamiekip, Wes and Glen on the As.net stand. I got lost a few times but didnt care as I spent half the day wondering round drooling at the cars in the show n shine.

Managed a run and popped my dragstrip cherry :racer:

5.84 and 1/4mile in 14.092.

Dont know if thats any good, I ****** up in second gear which cost me time. Kinda wished i'd bought 2 runs afterwards.. ah well.

I'll stick some photos up when imageshack sorts itself out :)

Again, nice to meet you all :)

I know I said 'never again' after last year but decided to give it one more try. This time it is definite - the show is a shadow of its former self - bar the sprint (but which is more expensive every year). The fact I left at 11:45 sort of sums up my thoughts!

I didn't get there till about 1pm after a change of plans free'd up my day!
I thought it was OK, spent most of the afternoon watching the sprint.

Here a quick vid of L6ON nailing his run (apologies for the gail blowing in the background!)

Some of the cars doing 2.77 secs to 60 were awesome!
Managed to put a few faces to names which is always good - glad I made the effort to get up there, besides getting blown around!

We really should try and sort out a proper audi-sport.net meet!

Have to agree with most, I kind of expected the show to be a bit bigger than what it was tbh, we must of walked round a dozen times, I'm sure there was more there last year!. I also tried to get the GIAC remap and they didn't have the flash file with them:sob:
Did see plenty of nice cars there though and some very surprising ones on the strip.

As for that wind, my face is burning up now!

Here's a quick clip of super modded old school scirocco - 2.77 to 60:

Was chatting to him at the end of the day, apparantly the cars a bit ill at the moment and he's seen 2.35.......
****** bonkers!

Jonny, did u manage a run with Glen in his porker?

Good show, my first one and although wind was a big pain in the ***, at least it was dry..
JonnyC, where were you mate, saw your car but no sign of you.. Ha. Only met couple of you chaps, including L6ON as was to busy wondering about.. ha
Strip was good viewing though and some good times, even though everyone was suffering with the wind..
Never did see that Porshe run.. :whistle2:.. ;) Looked mint though..
Got a few vids of you boys running, will get them up pronto..;)

Ok, lots of pics :) :

Hi guys, had a awesome day! Was really good to meet the lads for the drive down, very friendly bunch. You guys have got sum cool cars, JonnyC mate Im inspired by your car, looked and sounded the dogs! :rockwoot: Not exactly slow either. Im itching to mod mine now, your car looks almost perfect for my taste. awesome.
L60N, manage to catch your run up the drag, very impressed mate, looked pretty tricky launching cars off that grippy surface without bogging down etc, you managed it well, nice first run . Forgot to ask you if your car is re-mapped, gud time! :racer:

About the show in general, it was my first time so was just randomly mooching about, loved the drag strip, couldnt find the audi-sport stand anywhere, walked almost to the jumbo. Awesome machinery parked around, the JBS guys were really friendly, got some plans in the pipeline with them. All round good i think, apart from the gale force wind, which was blinding me with dust from the Sahara!

Thanx to all the guys who met up for the drive down, hope to see you soon.

Got to love pics! I love Polo's for some reason, great little cars would love to try the new shaped GTI

Love all of the pics.. Trying to remember who was taking pics of the cars on the drive down!?

I saw you with your car, just before you were about to do a run so didnt get a chance to say hi.. car looked cool though!

Well my car was on the Forge stand and the que for the strip was huge so I could be bothered to give it a go.. Did get to see my old car running a few times though.. The Regal GTI.. Now with around 400hp

If you watch the first video in the background you can see a white S3 with black grill and black wheels moving off to behind the bus. I had a word with him and he reckoned that he had been mapped up the 345bhp including miltek. He reckoned that he had done 0-60 in 5.1 sec yesterday when it was wet. I watched him today against a blue S3 and he bogged down at the start but caught up down the strip.
Some bargains to be had if you had a remap today.
I took my Mk IV GTI 1.8T and left the S3 in the garage. Had a nice chat with a guy who owned a blue S3 (VK07 in the pics) later in the afternoon who had come up from London.
I thought that some of the early Golfs were amazing but the S and RS cars really flew down the track.
Without the sprint it would not have been worth the trip, although it was excellent to see all of the cars.
My son was a bit hungry, how can they charge £6 for a hotdog, very small portion of chips and a coke!!?? As a matter of principle I went without!
Cheers, prt57

Yeah, tell me about it.. I was the quickest MkV of the day with a 5.06 0-60 and 13.51 1/4 mile until near the end when Regal went and run a (get this) 5.05 0-60 and 13.50 1/4.. Gutted!
:(
But it does have 80bhp more I suppose..;)

That was me prt57 - good to meet you! When I metioned there was someone on this forum with a red S3 it was yours I meant - should have asked if you were a forum member - Doh!!!

Anyway the vid of the white and blue S3 going down the strip is, as if by magic, here!
Again - cr@p video work - sorry!

Blue S3 0-60 = 5.76 and the 1/4 = 14.21
White S3 0-60 = 5.44 and the 1/4 = 13.96

I had a chat with the owner of the blue S3, said he was running 310bhp and the white car was on 340.

No mate, the engine has not been modified at all yet. I suppose looking at the times above I should be happy with 5.84 and 14.092 :racer:

I really did mess 2nd gear up tho, you can even see it on the plot!

the weather was awful on saturday and it was a bit crap, not as good a turn out as I was expecting. Like said above, the 1/4 mile drag strip saved the day. I was standing there most of the time as far up the strip as possible, by the time the cars were passing me they were at a 1/8th mile pt and were seriously shifting.

Sunday was sunny but windy, much busier. Lots of nice cars out both days.

The 1/4 mile was good, don't understand how they worked out the 0-60 mph times accurately, didnt really believe them, with some quick times on Saturday in wet conditions! Cant really argue with the 1/4 mile times though, there was a twin engined light blue Golf Mk3 (B16 BOY) running 800 bhp who was one of the quickest, as was a modified blue S4 with black rims, they were sub 12 seconds comfortably.

The RS4's (2 tuned ones) were only in the 13's if I recall correctly. Just shows some of those cars are really built for the 1/4 mile sprint and were destroying everyone.

I was there on sunday but was a little disappointed with the show. I don;t know if anyone here remebers the TRL days for it?

It was ok, not many trade stands, not many show cars, all in all the show's a shadow of it's former self.

As everyone else has said the sprint saved it. I spent most of my time stood watching that.

J.

Its the first specific-ish car show ive been to and thought it was pretty good, although the stands were a bit poor barring a few - Awesome's,Forge, and a few others.

There wasnt much in the way of entertainment. I was expecting to see loads of honeys clad in lycra and various exhibitions.

Im sure the VW owners will be happy with the event, they sure turned out in force!!

Lots of 14 to 15 1/4 miles, kind of surprised as back in the Honda days 1.6 Civics would get similar times?

Inters gets a bad rep every year. (Usually to do with the weather)

Edition38, although even more VW focused is a LOT more fun.

Sorry I didn't turn up on time at the services guys, got dragged out the night before and although I was up early I was on the back foot after there was a power cut which swallowed my cash card in the ATM. I set off then turned around as I had no hope of catching you.

Thought the show was good, shame about the wind though... But dont think the show is like it use to be when I went few years ago.

Didin't think there was many stands or much to look at, but still enjoyed it!

Saw most of your cars at the show, some really nice cars! Didn't see any of you lot though :(

I had the GIAC Hammer remap done by REGAL and also a switcher unit, thought it would be silly not too at the price they were offering it at...

Defo worth money... cars feels so different. Really pleased with it.

EvoMS air intake like jonnyc's is up next when they get them in stock :arco:

Thats a fantastic time mate, seriously good considering that the APR DSG car with a £9k engine tuning package was slower than the time you managed!!

Fastest RS4 I saw was a saloon and it ran a 13.8 (with 4WD) hehehe..

Good to see Regal showing up APR too!!

Cheers mate.. Was going to get a few more runs as only did 3, but they had sold out. Would of been nice to squeeze into the 4's, but maybe next year eh..
Never did get to go up against a RS4, but watched a lot off them go down and would of been a good race I reckon..
What exhaust you got on yours again mate? Love the pipes..

Is custom from the downpipe.. Just went for twin 3.5x3' ovals and had them slash cut and staggered like the OE tail pipes, pleased with how they came out, makes quite a noise too!!

This was mine and Wes's run.

I really dont trust the times given. Wes got a quicker 0-60 time???
Also my printout gives slightly different figures too. Whats up with that?

There was a laser on the car at the start line which means that the time starts when the car moves which factors out the green light and reaction times.. maybes that was what happened in that run?
