Turbo whistling and hiss.... Normal for the S3?

Hi guys,

Quick question (hopefully) with my S3 I can hear the turbo whistling away when accelerating and hissing when I lift my foot off. Especially noticeable when the windows are down. Didn't think anything of it, but a mate of mine was in the car yesterday and questioned it. I assume it's normal for the S3? I can't remember whether the S3 I test drove had the same noises or not.

I don't think mine is very loud , but some people say theres are pretty loud?

If your worried mate get it back to the dealers and ask for a tech to drive it , put your mind at rest.

yes its normal, even louder when they are remapped it sounds like a 997 turbo

Thanks guys. Just wanted some confirmation really after my mates comment. Assumed it was normal as it's zooming along and I've not had any warning lights etc.

Normal - loud in mine and even louder after remap. What I don't know (but would like to if anyone can tell me) is if its a noise made on the intake (spooling up noise) or the over run (dump valve).

Anyone ?

The noise is made by the valve... very ironic, while some folks are concerned about this noise, some other folks make an upgrade to the valve, or even put an extra gadget to make the noise even greater...
I like how it sounds

Whats the extra gadget you add to make it even louder mate? I hope i havnt asked a really stupid question in my ignorance lol.....
