Just been looking at an A3 in the Audi used section. Total is just under 20k with really decent spec.
I would like to keep my monthly payments to no more than £300. What kind of deposit do you think I would be looking at?

Should be less than £2k if they offer a 50% balloon on a pcp, dont know how a straight finance deal would work.£20k is kind of on the border in terms of choosing standard finance or a pcp deal.

How likely is the dealer to offer 50% balloon at the end though.
Do you think PCP is the best way to go?

When you say on the border, do you mean the difference between the monthly payments?

when i say border i mean normally on cars worth £20k or more PCP usually works out bettere. On anything lower then straight finance.

6 months ago my friend purchased an r32 for £26k, he put in a £2k deposit and pays around £320 per month based on a 50% balloon.

Audi wont offer a 50% balloon as they tend to be lower however an independent broker may do, depends on what model your getting and the age

If you plan to keep yor car then a balloon payment scheme might not be the best for you.

To get an idea of figures try www.car-finance.net I used them recently as the rates they offered where considerably better than the deal could do.

To keep the payments to around the £300 mark, with not much as a deposit I think the balloon payment may be the better option...?
Any thoughts?

I've just tried www.car-finance.net
With £1500 deposit
HP: £455.96
PCP:£333.25
Low payment Plan:£312.55 all over 48month

Unless the dealer can offer a better deal looks like I may have to stick with what I have.

The car I'm looking to go for is an A3 2.0TDI 140 S-Line, White.

If I do have to wait I hope there are more of these become for sale, don't really want to miss this opportunity...

If the cars up for £20K you should be able to negotiate at least a grand of the sticker price if not a bit more!

Speak to the finance bod's in Audi and tell them what deposit you;ve got, what you want the monthlys to be and get them to sort out a deal. Take a few examples of rates of the web and see how you get on. The finance rates they offer are negotiable.

Many thanks for your reply.

The exact price the car is up for is £19,987.
I don't want to be stiffed as I was with the A4 I owned. When I called yesterday the guy told me the highest poss balloon payment is around 40% if I could get 50% then I'm only really financing the remaining 10k ish. Over 3 year. Do you know how far the dealers can be pushed and how I can get them right to there limits?

MarriedBlonde - PM sent.
