Thanks

Will anybody from the forum be there having any work done!!!! Make sense now?

NO but will be interested in knowing how you get on with it and how it feels afterwards as seriously thinking of going for the GIAC remap. You going for the 330 map ?

Statller don't have a RR , but Sohrob's coming to the RR day , so we'll see how it goes against REVO and Superchips all slugging it out toe to toe for the undistputed S3 remapper of the world!!!!!!!!

Clash of the titans :)

Had mine done about 3 weeks ago, went for the hammer map....awesome:eyebrows:! Smooth, sweet, improved economy on long runs too:happy:,no probs so far! As for the rolling road...Steve was off to Regal Autosport the following weekend to pick up theirs,so it could be up and running by now!

I might be driving past on the way to Mhall if the missis gets her way, so might try pop in.. ;)

haha i have done quite a few miles over the weekend!!!

Well at first i wasnt quite sure on the results but now i have got used to the power delivery i am very very happy with it. Its most noticeable in 3 rd gear where it really pulls. Also crusing in 6th gear at 80 you just put your foot down and it just goes.

Overtaking is a lot easier and as many people have said in 3-6th gear its almost as though you are a gear lower.

The turbo also chatters and it now sounds like a mini 997 turbo :)

The service at statller was spot on, nice garage and they took care of the vehicle. I would highly recomend both them and the GIAC, I cant stop driving the thing :)

Man i was sooo gonna get this done.. Now im not soo sure... If it was night and day then I would bite the bullet but for minor gains can i justify 600 smackers and the worry of something going pop...

I think you'd be wise to hang fire Leon till after the RR day Sohrob's coming along so we can look at the plots, with Jordan and his Revo , and Iggu and his Bluefin.

imo £585 is **** all and it certainly makes the car quicker, as i said i took a few miles to get used to but the more i drive it the more i love it

For example on my hunt for v power this morning i had a ***** in a 996 driving up my **** trying to overtake 3rd gear put some distance between us and at the bext set of lights i got the question " what have you done to that" i just replied its a 2.0 tdi as my car has no badges lol.

Do it for the noise alone!!

Yeah Leon, im deffo holding off till after the RR day, i NEED to see how she is perfroming standard before i go for anything.

Lee, the BF looks nicer now as Leon pointed out to me that the standard map they put on the loader is your "actual" map from original, not some generic 261hp map. I know that if my car is putting out anywhere near to phantoms, i will NOT be going down the GIAC route, simple as..

Sohrob. £600 is more than F all to me... unfortunately

Doesnt the GIAC revert to the cars standard map?? im sure i heard this was the case.

And what i meant was £585 isnt a lot for the gains, you could pay that for a miltek for example.

Lets wait for the RR day and hope that the gains arent just the placebo effect and are all in my head lol.

As you say Sohrob midrange seems to be where you get the most gain.

On our last RR day the headline figures on the mapped cars ( GIAC and Revo ) were not that great over mine and Mitch78's Std cars , but the curves on the plot shown that the mapped cars were making more torque and power earlier and holding it for longer over the rev range , which would mean a quicker car on road in the real world.

It's like the fuel pump upgrade with stage 2 code , it doesn't add much top end , but it added 40bhp midrange over a Cupra owners stage 1 APR map.

p

i dont care about figures,i dont for one second think the car has 330 bhp but it is more useable which is what i wanted.

If i keep the car i will be getting the upgraded fuel pump and a sport cat however an rs4 may be on the cards :)

£600 for daily grin factor? Well worth it! I'm well chuffed:ohmy: and she certainly does pull...as most have pointed out...it's like being in a lower gear,or two imo. To have that kind of acceleration is soo much fun, just like the disappearing look of astonishment in yer rear view....as they fade into the distance....even in 6th,she rocks!!:redrs4:

Don't know if you boys are interested, but these were the results from our RR day at Awesome the other sat..
http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/rollingroad/rr.gti_070608.html
Awesome are running new software on there RR now and the results were a little down on previous days (about 5-10bhp), and it was a little warmer, but you can have a comparision at some of the different maps on the Ed30's. No Bluefin i'm afraid, but there is Revo, GIAC Hammer, Custom Code and APR..

sounds about right between the revo and giac, yours ran a max of 315 with the addition of a full system while the giac mapped car ran 305 with an induction system which i doubt will add much.

10 bhp is achieveable with a turbo back system on turbo motors.

Ive only had a quick look , but you can see the difference in the midrange the fuel pump gives, the curve is nearly flat!

When are Revo bringing out there fuel pump?

p

There's a couple of Fuel pumps you can get to run along side Revo.. I know a chap who has one on his Cupra..

What sort of price is the Revo pump?

I don't really want to go with API as they don't have a switch/loader and they increment the flash count.

Thanks

you getting a remap then phantom? Stattler have an upgraded fuel pump which sits in the standard housing.

Deffo getting a remap , i'm just bideing my time at the moment , and i don't know who to go with!

Main wants are

Good power . ( over my 280bhp Std car )
Transparency . ( dealer can't see the map/ doesn't incremt the flash counter )
Switch/loader .
Upgradable . ( can add fuel pump and get a stage 2 code , ect )
Value for money .

I'll be looking very at everybodys plots at the RR day with a keen eye.

thats exactly what i was like but then i just thought **** it i will do it, i know that with the Giac you just pay the difference in the cost so you dont lose out by upgrading later.

With the handheld device it cost £585 all in, the fuel pump is around £240 then its just the additional cost of the altered map and not the cost of whole new map.

As a gauge my s3 was a bit quicker than my pals mk5 r32 dsg but with the map its noticeably quicker.
