Does anyone have any German style metal pressed plates? Im thinking they would look really good on the white S3 so i want to buy some but i want to get some decent ones and id like them from they UK, any ideas?

Thanks

Rich

www.theplateman.com or www.dubmeister.co.uk not sure how much aggro they are these days as the police go thorugh phases of really cracking down on them. Bit if a minefield as to how to space them as well, using stadt seals etc. I have always just ran plain plates with no markings and have them subtly tinted, legal but stealthy!

As I am based in Germany I can try and find out there how much they'd cost to make there. Can't beat that for authenticity.

www.europl8.com i have used them twice - they are an ebay based company and charge only £19.99 including delivery on excellent quality plates!

Lots of northern ireland folk buy from them with no complaints!!

Thanks for all the info guys. The idea of some german made plates is very appealing, as you say you cant get anymore authentic than that. If you can get a price when you get a minute that would be great.

I have seen a few Golfs driving around with them but i can understand what people are saying about getting pulled. Im only 21 so i tend to get targeted anyway. Although in saying that my current plates arent entirely legal (the font is) and i havent been pulled for the once yet, touch wood.

I can have a go mate for sure! PM me in a few days to remind me if I haven't sent an update by then.

its about £15 delivered, next day delivery from Dubmeister. Got some on my car from there. They look great.

I had a look at dubmeister after dsl55 posted the link, they look pretty good. I dont suppose you have got a close-up photo of them do you? Id love to see some.

Thanks

Rich

not got any pictures, let me reassure you they are top quality from Dubmeister and look great. They are as good as you are going to get. They say they are the exact same quality as the german plates (cant cofirm this as never seen a real german plate).

PS. i dont work for dubmeister!!

Is there a confusion in the thread? Phantom and Marc were talking about plate holders not plates.

I'll try and get to the Audi garage on Monday and get some pics and a price. Of the plate holders that is!

What do these look like?

Just like ours , but instead of " SmithKnightFaye Audi " they'll be something like " Gunthers Audi Berlin " but with the German type face.

Staz , i'm only interested if they have the city on the plate holder.

Thank

Maybe, i started off talking about plates and not holders. Im hoping John was talking about the plates from Dubmeister too because im about to place an order.

dubmeister do the plate holders/surrounds as well with a variety of dealer names on, frankfurt porsche etc. can't remember if its them or plateman but you can make your plate online and it will show you exactly what it looks like, stadt seals etc as well (think you have to use : or - to enter them)

edit - it's dubmeister - you can play about with spacing, surrounds, fonts etc, enter a : for stadt seal or - for a hyphen etc got an udi zentrum ingolstadt surround

I was going for some german plates but was put off by them not being legal so ordered some boring uk ones but with leamington VW on them. I stll might risk the german plates at a later date.....

Well it looks like Dubmeister has it all covered Leon.

I got genuine plate holders, black ones with " AUDI CENTER INGOLSTADT" on them. I got them from main Audi dealer in Ingolstadt. Haven`t fitted yet as english number plates are bigger then european so I need to order new ones, bit smaller. I was in Ingolstadt 3 weeks ago. My uncle works in Audi factory. I`ve been on a guided tour in the factory and have seen A3 being made. Many of them RHD :) maybe some of them was ordered by our forum member? :)

I'm going to Ingolstadt on the way to Italy in August. How often are the tours? You don't need to book do you? I know English tours are infrequent but my misus speaks German (and English thankfully) so that's not an issue.

I run german pressed plates and have not had bother. If you have your plate like that though, with the german Plakettes and stadt seals I think you will get some trouble because it really looks non-standard with them, plus you have the Deutche (D-euro band), I went with the GB.

Depends where you live too, some :busted_cop: are more fussy than others. Good luck!

Dsl55.

That is WELL dodgy! It doesnt look in the slightest bit english :scared2:

If I were you I'd probably go as far as this:

But even then its not even close to legal. I reckon the fuzz is gonna have a field day if you go around wearing those badboys mate.

i do agree but really like them so going to go for it for a while and see what happens! have run plain (no dealer stuff on them etc) tinted plates for last few years which were legal and were quite subtle but thought it may look quite chav on this one

if i get too much aggro i will perhaps go with the less 'german' ones!

been out for lunch today and went past one police car and sat behind another with no probs. :ninja:

edit: i think i am banking on them looking so german the rozzers will just think i is ein berlinner! ich bin von ingolstadt.

I ran original German plates for about a week and got pulled. So I got another set fot the german plate guy or something like that and I've run them for 2 years without any issues (apart form the MOT man!).
I'd go for something like this if I were you....

dsl55,

if I were you, get some number plate surrounds. You can get them on numerous sites eg. dubmeister.co.uk

Also carry a set of normal UK plates. If you get pulled, you can say you have the standard plates in the back and had these show plates on for a Audi show or photoshoot and forgot to switch them back. The number plate surrounds mean you can screw them in once and change your plates around as often as a woman changes her shoes. They have a special key so not every Tom, **** or Harry can change the plates. You can do it while the copper is there and hopefully he will just let you go with a warning.

worst case he can issue a penalty notice and fine, and you have to prove its been rectified (i.e. back to uk spec plate) in 14 days. I had to double take your plates to see if they were Uk or not. They look well german!!

You have to book the tour but there is english tour every day. It costs 6 or 7 €. Worth going.

They are the exact surrounds that I have on my A3

Where can I buy these surrounds? I've checked the links contained within this thread but none seem to sell the "Zentrum Ingolstadt" ones.

dubmeister defo do audi ingolstadt ones, dubmeister.co.uk, click show plates then surrounds
