What you LOVE about your Audi.

Could be wrong but I think the problem with postcodes is only a software problem & could easily be solved Tom Tom used to be the same, which was solved by downloading an aftermarket full post free upgrade.

I love my A3 and am so glad I bought it. I love the drive, the DSG, the build quality, the understated looks and most of all the interior. The FBMFSW and RNS-E complete the dash imo. I think my next car will be the new Audi A7

The Ford one is the way it makes sense to me!! Pulling back for up and forward to change down!!!

:applaus:

FWIW, I never used the paddles in my DSG.
Which made Audi's up/down pattern even more annoying.

shame you can't open the gearlever up and change the buttons around

Also, pretty suprised none of the tuning firms have built a program for the DSG box that stops it from changing up, thought that would be quite a seller

I was definitely interested in buying such a product, as far back as '05.
I remember Eeef ( I think ) mentioning that one of the tuning companies was looking at it back then, but nothing seemed to come of it.

yeah, I seem to remember the initial discussion around it, shame no companies followed through

Pity its not a dealer select option too, perhaps on the new DSG boxes is may be (Not holding my breath though)

For what it worth I never used them on my 140. They seem very noisy when clicked. When I got my 170 I tried the paddles and they work almost silently and I found myself using them more and more.

I was talking to my brother the other evening and he drives a lorry for a living. He works through an agency so he drives lots of different ones, mostly artics. He was saying that quite a number of lorries these days have a gearbox similar in operation to the DSG in tip-tronic mode but with some you push the lever forward to change up and others you pull it back. Can be rather confussing for the first few miles.

I think the reason VW/Audi adopted the forward to change up and back to change down is that it is the same configuration as use by Porsche in their tiptronic gearboxes. At the time they were the other other German car manufacturer to build a similar gearbox. In both cases their was a lot of design input from Borg-Warner to both VW and Porsche's gearboxes.

Sorry, I'm going to lower the tone here but it has to be said. I know you guys are listing features of the car (which i could list myself) but being a young audi owner one the main reasons i love it is because when im on a night out and i get my phone out to let someone use it or get a number etc my car is on the background and its just the best thing when ppl say "oo nice car!" or "is that yours!?" makes me well happy. And, the girls love it!

When im having a leisurely drive home from work on the expressways, then i see some dickhead in a corsa in my mirror flashing me to get out the way, foot just goes down a little more on the accelerator and makes them disappear in my mirror :)

I get annoyed by people who sit in the wrong lane then as soon as you give them a flash to get out of the way they try and prove a point by putting their foot down. What point? That you're going slow but can go faster if you want to? Huh?!

I love my soft top even though we do not get much sunshine. Had the top down today, cabin was lovely & warm.

I forgot i ever started this thread. As i remember, the 'things you hate about your Audi' thread had about double the number of posts!! Probably because people just love to moan.

Anyway, i still love my Audi probably more than i did back in June or whenever i started this thread. Still to this day i haven't been in a mid sized car which does everything as well as mine. I honestly (no, really) believe it's the best all round model in the Audi range. Practical, compact, great cabin, quick, 4WD stability, relatively economical, lower insurance than a Golf GTI, prestige image, looks great, good second hand residuals and it's a rare car.

Sure it's not perfect but there's nothing i'd swap it for in the same bracket.

I agree with all of this apart from the last 4 words. An A3 is not a rare car in any guise.

Well i can only speak from experience, I've never seen another 3 door 2.0T S-Line Quattro on the road in my area and neither have my mates. It took me months to find one in the right spec. I think there's only a couple on Autotrader at this moment. Sure it's not Ferrari Enzo rare but compared to most it seems to be.

Alot of things tbh, latest mod got me going are my adaptive headlights now seen them working round corners, but the funniest & have to say greatest thing are the headlight washers, had on my previous s3/s4 & they still make me laugh seeing them working, yeah I know simple things but hey if you can have a sense of humour then your lost cause

I'm not in the "wrong" lane. I'm in the lane that goes the way i want to go home. I drive to the limit, it ****** me off something rotten when im behind someone doing 30 in a 60. If im already at 60/70 then theres some baghead in a crap car trying to make me move over (when there's not always a gap) then i will put my foot down.

:wtf:

I love the DSG and interior quality

I dont like the fact people tell me i have the "Girls Audi" and then i start looking at other owners and loads of them seem to be women! And oddly, they always seem to be tasty looking women!

If you are in outside lane doing 60/70 whilst overtaking and then pull in immediately after overtaking - nobody would have a problem. But if you drive at 60/70 in the outside just because you fancy being in that lane (as many do) then it is the "wrong" lane because you are in the overtaking lane but you are not overtaking.
I think that's what Staz1000 was getting at. I see people pootling along at 60/70 in the outside lane (whilst not overtaking) all the time and it forces me to overtake on the inside or flash them. It annoys me because they are in the "wrong" lane.

Yeah thats what I loved about living in Cape Town for a year, none of this undertaking law *****, if someone in way just went round them, cant undertand these idiots that just sit in the right lane even when no traffic in left, brainless morons
