Hi guys,I'm new here,we just got our S3,210 BHP.Was wondering how does it compare with a tuned one (265 BHP,right?) before I go ahead with it.Not looking to test drive one,but if anyone lives around Sutton/Mitcham I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks!

I'm around the Oval, but I've got to change the old dredged Cam Chain Tensioner to do, so the old girl is running like a bag of spanners at the mo.

Thou I don't think anyone on here has regretted getting their motor remapped mate, well worth the investment IMO :salute:

S3s arent tuned till their over 300bhp :p

As far as remaps go, did you have a certain company in mind? People with CustomCode ones seem to find them very smooth, but the Revo ones (and GIAC if I remember correctly) are more Agressive in their power delivery

I'd go MRC if i were to do it again. The RS4/S4 owners always bang on about how good their maps are.

Ive heard great things about the Stage1 MTM maps too from people, just not huge amounts of them about on here atm

Probably the Revo.Seems to be the most expensive, but they offer free trial for 5 hours (the software resets itself after that, according to their website:
http://www.revotechnik.com/products/freeTrial.aspx.).

Not too far away from you costa.. Im in SW. Get some pix up!

Yeah, be careful with the Revo trial

From what I understand, it doesnt revert to the standard map, but to a Revo equivilent of the standard map, which some people claim is different and slighty slower, so after the trials ended you really notice a difference, then your happy to part with your cash

Just somthing to look into, sure you can find plenty of info on here

Thanks for the advice grathies, will think twice about the trial thing.

I'd be concerned about free trial also - cant imagine they check the car properly with vag-com etc etc before loading then check it all out after upload? Might be wrong though..

Out of interest when you get a car mapped do any tuners check the air/fuel ratio via the lamba probe whilst actually driving (laptop) or is this just assumed to be correct as the map is generic and has been developed/tested etc....guessing this is only part of a custom map etc..

Gt, they checked mine whilst driving with laptop attached...so assume all was checked thoroughly

I'm a couple of miles down the road from South Croydon just off the M23 - it would certainly be interesting to see how my standard car performs alongside yours from say 40 in fourth through to 70-80, there are a couple of places local that we could try this..

Have people tried this before - be interesting to see what difference the extra torque makes over the standard cars accelaration..

Let me know if you are interested - maybe the 3 or us could meet up.

I didnt realise how many people live around the south.. maybe we could organise a mini meet around the bottom half of the m25? maybe a bit further west and go to the Ace cafe one night?

I tried organising a meet a couple of months back - weather was not the best though....only 3 of us turned up.

Seems people are up for it, and if people on the south coast want to come up there more than welcome also, Can we make a list? and if we get a good number of people that are up for it we'll set a date?

Add your names to this list and paste back in..

Speak with Simon at AMD he was one of the 1st Revo tuners in UK until he bought AMD so he's fairly knowledgable, he always checks the car thoroughy with VAG before any tuning, he's in Surrey aswell so perfect for you TBH, I've used him numerous times & never once had a problem & this is on an S3, S4 B6 & the A3 TDI DSG, brilliant service & very helpful/friendly, this is my personal experience aswell, make sure if you do call him you ring the Surrey branch not Essex.

Trust me once you've had it mapped & I think most others would agree you will be amazed how much different it is, power is unreal & if you're impressed by stock you'll be blown away by a map from any of them, but I would recommend Simon IMHO.
