I know this is kinda the wrong bit of the forum for this, but not really lol.

While doodling in photoshop, I did this to see what it would look like, and im divided about whether to do it on the real car - fire away lads!

It really isnt that nasty is it? Cheaper and easier than a kit....:)

Personally I don't like it, but thats just my opinion. Your wouldn't be able to continue the chrome strip down over the bumper would you? In the flesh I reckon it would look a bit tacky and cheap. Sorry to be harsh :friends:

heh nah its cool mate, just a laugh and no offense taken for any comments, good or bad :)

I just started doodling on a pic of the car to see what it would look like and the edge would just be a pinstripe in the drawing, as the car is silver anyway lol.

Just got to thinking....hmmmm..... would it work for real.

try with some vinyl !

You know Roy, that crossed my mind. "Whats the difference" I thought "between a plastic bit there - or a bit the same colour as the grille, thats already plastic and already there....and do it in vinyl..."

I paused. "hmmmmmm......."

LOL

In fact if you look at the fofley-hofeely kit, you have to buy your own box (bumper-shaped i might add...) thats box-ish and holds the number plate.

And that bit's already present, you can see where they were going with the grille.

Make it black....and presto!

I'd actually just do the chrome black, and as my car has black side and window trim (!) I wouldnt need the edge effect in the pic, just black.

i think u should try it with some vinyl

get some black from b&q, or just a 1m sheet for £5 of ebay

be a test dummy :)

ok thats a deal. cos the vinyl (why do i always have to type that twice to spell it - aaargh) will peel off again should it look ****.

Excellent suggestion mate. :icon_thumright:

will post pics. it'll be a hoot gettin it to look right!

you can buy it in our local diy superbase place etc

about £3 a roll!

£3 for a tester ! u might like it, it might look better in the flesh ! u never know untill u try !

still think it will look cheap, but u never know !

Aye, it probably will look cheap. I just dont like the big konk of the hofle kit, but i like the grill  and short of cutting a section out and fitting the b7 grille (would it even fit at the top and bottom, maybe) I cant see another easy way to get the look. If that middle bit was actually black plastic would it not be nearly the same looking as the real b7 grille with the numberplate box fitted...its the exact same size as the bumper and fills the space between the bumper end pieces...

do you have a shot o yours from the front roy? That would look as close as could be to the one grille look without having one, as its black already...:)

ha ha ha! Right thats it. I'm puttin my old front end back on and doin evil's mod, its the badgers nadgers!

Heres another photoshopped take on the grill then, in black with no chrome as of the centre bit was black plastic to match the grille...(would be airbrushed in real (or vinyl)

looks like a hoffel kit lol !

Anyone have a pic of this?

Evil, that second version without the chrome looks better, i still think it will look awful, but like Roy said its worth a go as it may well look better in the flesh .....

i see the wiper arms are peeling on your car scots have they both gone or just the passenger side ?

Yeah, it might do, but if a pro painted it, would it look similar enough to the hofle kit:(which has a big hooter like a volvo from the side)

Both really but the passenger side is worst. It looks like alloy underneath so its probably why they all bubble. I plan to take them off and coat them wi zinc primer and then repaint in finigans smoothrite black cos its as hard as nails when dry that stuff and gives a satin finish.

Its ****** annoying tho all the same. And I keep noticing stupid little scratches and chips that have been waxed over (my obsessive washing has removed the wax). Ah well, might get a bodyshop to paint the lowers or kit if i get round to fitting one and do the scratches too.

:(

I did that to mine a couple of weeks ago, it worked a treat and tidied the car up no end! Cheers for the pic of the Hofle grille Scots:hi:

excellent! btw heres a wee montage i did to compare the two.

Hows that going to work on my black car then ?!?!?!!?!?!? :)

yup, erm, well....it won't. You're left out in the cold, no cheapy paint mod for you, so you'll have to stand in the "i can't do that to my car, cos it's black" corner while the rest of the playgroup get a story and some milk.

:lmfao:

How about a group buy Scots? :scared2:

For what mate, a hofel kit?

:)

Ok everyone, i'll drop the mod (lol) its dead. I love the looks of the B6 anyway thats why I bought one instead of a b7 cos I dont like the front or rear lights on it, just the grill!
