Ladies and Gentlemen...
There’s often a lot of bitching and whining on here about the pro’s and cons of the various A3 models which always results in conflicting opinion and argument. So.... i’m starting a positive and negative thread, one for each. Don’t start an argument, just post your differing opinion in the correct thread!
Right, so this one is the POSITIVE thread. Lets remind each other why we chose an Audi... What do you love about your Audi? What makes you glad you chose it over competitors cars? What makes you glad to own and drive it? Any design details you love? Any technical aspects of the car you think are brilliant?

The Audi is a car i could never love. It hasnt got that certain somthing, its far too clinical a machine, but in that respect i think its good, but it aint got soul. For soul, and love for a car i'd have to go for a classic, such as a citroen CX pallace or similar quirkyness :p
 
Agreed, i love the design of my car, it's great to look at but it doesn't have a personality. Think thats just german design ethic though. Not much we can do about that!
 
I'm not being sarcastic here - but I love its cold, hard, unfeeling Germanic lack of personality. There is nothing quirky or funny about an Audi, nothing warm or cuddly. When I open the garage in the morning it looks at me with with no affection whatsoever. I quite like that air of arrogance about it.

If I wanted a funky/cuddly car with personality I'd buy a Smart. But that would be ****.
 
DSG box - I think its the perfect blend for my journeys, so good it makes choosing the next car very difficult

Some nifty features too, light package, the way the dashboard lights work, total closure on the key
 
The looks, and that feel good factor I get from it. No other car I have sat in ever quite feels as comfortable- I have tried so many lately, alfas ,volvos, beemers and none feel quite so good- It's hard to explain, its just like a good old comfy pair of slippers really!
 
Always seems harder to come up with good point - why is that!

So, as mentioned, I like the Audi design, it's an efficient look, has purpose and I think all Audi's since the 80's have had this. The last S3 was an awesome piece of design, the new one less so in my view.

It's Jekyll and Hyde ability- cruiser one second, best the next

Interior - bar a few things other have mentioned, the interior is a special place to be. I get complacent, but when I sit in another car it become so obvious - Parent MK5 Golf GT is a prime example - the S3 is sooooo much nicer!

Flat bottomed steering wheel - purely aesthetic, but I really, REALLY like it.

Interioir light pack - Shouldn't be an option, it should be standard as I think it adds so much to the interior in night time driving.

Move over reaction on motorways - I like the fact that 60% of the time, people see you approaching in the rear view mirror and get out of the way (and no, not in a sit on someones bumpers and scare them out of the way) I think it just has that 'what is it' reaction with a lot of people (apart from BMW drivers - just kidding...!

I like the fact that nearly 16 months of ownership, I still really enjoy the car after spending nearly £30k I think that's really important!

I'm sure there will be more!

Spot on.

I want a great looking car that is safe, ruthlessly efficient, predictable, fast with absolutely no drama.

My S3 gives me this 100%.

Exterior & interior styling, performance.

Agree on the getting complacent about the interior, start to forgot how nice a place it is to be till you sit in another car
 
This will no doubt be repeated in the negative thread by those not so lucky to have 'enjoyed' their Audi experience.

Build quality.

Service intervals at 18k
looks great
spot on seating position
and a small one - the radio that records the traffic news so i can listen to it when I get in the car!
 
Looks good.
Solid German build quality.
Interior is a very nice place to be.
And people always let you out of junctions without having to wait !!

I like the shape, I often look back and think "now thats a nice looking car".

And the echo the above comments about the interior, it is something special, and you do find yourself taking it for granted. But then again, i suppose thats the secret of great interior design, to forget your surroundings and focus on the experience.
 
What do I like about my Audi - well just about everything. I love the interior and subtle exterior design. The quality of all the controls and switches and the interior materials and the subtle lighting with the lighting pack. I love the S-tronic gearbox and would never ever want another car without one. It is very rare that I don't get in to my car and have a smile on my face and it stays there the whole time I'm driving whether it's driving though the countryside just for the shear enjoyment of driving, or sitting there making good progress on a motorway. With the S-tronic even traffic jams are less of a problem. I only have a couple of dislikes and I posted those in the Dislike thread.

I off to Germany and Switzerland on Sunday in my A3 and I must say I'm looking forward to the driving just as much as anything else. Travelling first class all the way!
 
I used to own a 2.6ltr 80e sport, she was sexy, fast and furious!! she did her job when asked..........however had to sell her as her ecu went so had to down grade to a Vauxhall astra 8v 1.6!! now that is lacking personality, sex appeal and has no welly under the bonnet.....BRING BACK THE E SPORT, SEXIEST AUDI EVER BUILT!!

Othen? it takes me 20mins to leave the car park , i keep looking back and thinking that is Sex weeeee and it looks so hard at the same time , it looks like it'll knock you out in one arrow!

What i probably like most about the car is what it does, not just what it is. It serves literally all purposes i was looking for in this car. Speed wise it's in hot hatch territory, sounds good, it's 4WD, looks great (nice sleek efficient styling) but not too shouty, it's practical (decent boot and back seats), relatively economical (insurance group 15...Golf GTI's are 17), it's been very low maintenance and reliable so far, build quality has been second to none, no rattles or bumps, interior is great for any length of journey AND....for a 'small' car it's great on the motorway.
So as a package i can't fault it at all. Every time i get in i know i picked the right car for me. My other options were a Golf GTI, Golf R32 or an S3. After test driving all of them, the Golf's were the first to go purely because they didn't feel as quality or as special as the Audi's. I loved the S3 but had to rule it out based on insurance quotes (i've just served a ban....OUCH!). The S-Line isn't going to scare an S3 too much performance wise but it's still 4WD and quicker than most.

Great car basically. Some may disagree!

I love my car. The little things that are wrong with it, are FAR outweighed by what I love about it. Interior, exterior, how it puts a smile on my face when I decide to plant it... list goes on! Yes they are expensive but we're all still willing to go on and buy one so I guess we think deep down that its worth it.... otherwise we would have walked out the dealership right at the beginning!

I would have said exactly that, and the fact from having RWD for so long Im looking forward to NOT getting stuck in the snow this winter/autumn or whenever the hell it decides to snow. :hi:

Seems to be all makes, although not BMWs obviously !

Everytime I stop to pull out from my local petrol station, someone always lets me out within a few seconds. Must be down to the image conveyed by Audis I guess.

Obvious you have quattro, because I can assure you the FWD A3's are absolutely ****** shocking in the snow.
 
I love the grin I get when I put my foot down. I love that the powers there but it's well refined and delivered in such a sure footed controlled way.

I also love the mean look it has. Not too in your face, but definitely aggressive styling.

Agree with others that the interior feels very special. Not lost that special feel yet as not had it long enough. FBMFSW is gorgeous..... so worth the extra cash.

I have that feature on my current Symphony III and I had on the previous Concert radio in my 2004 A3.

Being a gadget man...

The Phone prep has to be one of the most useful features. As a small business owner it allows me to keep things moving and generate more business whilst I am driving between various places. Something which I could never quite manage with one fo those earpieces as they were too fiddly!

The RNSe is also a great piece of kit. I dont have to worry about directions wherever I go, and no nasty wires over my dash, or stuff to pack away when I arrive.

Finally, the comments I get from everyone who sees the car for the first time - everyone loves it

Indeed, I've got the Symphony III; set it for the morning and afternoon for usual commute times and it really helps me to avoid the traffic - only realised I had it after reading the manual fully a few months after getting the car.

Have you ever owned a Tom Tom? I have. And I miss it very dearly. I used to think it was a real hassle too what with wires and wiping the suction pad mark off the windscreen.
So I opted to get the RNSe retrofitted. Yep, completes the dash, looks nice, and no hassle (at least in terms of taking in and out and less appealing to steal). But for the rest (the important bit) which is getting to your destination it's ****** useless! I still cant believe Audi charge ya £2k for something you can't even enter a full UK postcode into!

I now have a bsic TomTom ONE and it slots into a hrdd wired cradle with only a ferry short piece of wire visable. Just slot the unit into the cradle and remove it when I park. Very easy and straight forward and and excellent at it's job. Will be using it for my drive to Germany and Switzerland on Sunday.

Yes, I have used a number of different devices. In fact somewhat better than the TomTom is the Navman ICN510 but i'm going back a few years now!

You're spot on, the RNSe does not handle post codes as well as TomTom, but i'd still prefer not to have to worry about cables, batteries, and theft. Plus I can control the Radio, telephone and have mp3 playback in the same unit.

Oh and I paid £660 for my RNSe
 
I like the shape and the understated looks. I like it being a wolf on sheeps clothes. I like the reliability and the interior styling and perceived quality are amongst best in class if not the best...

I've just got back from Ikea with a 6 foot by 3 foot mattress in the back of the S3. I'm not kidding. Rear seats down, front seats fully reclined downwards - mattress stuffed in up against the roof. My right cheek was squashed against the driver's window and I was glad I didn't meet any rozzers but how's that for versatility ?

some might call that being efficient

love the door 'thunk' when it closes, damping of the controls, it's **** easy to drive, it does what it says on the tin
 
Forgot to mention total reliability. 55k miles, 2.5 years on & its been spot on. An absolute pleasure to spend time in and with. Researched the car beforehand and thankfully it has lived up to expectations.

And thankfully I haven't had to go to Ikea recently, so not tested it for mattress space!
 
Ok I sold my sole to the devil for my A3, 2.2 family, didn't tell the misses when I ordered it, and even took my daughter to pick it up asI live on the wirral and bought it form York Audi
(any comments on dealership appeciated)
1/2 price train ticket etc!! Spec is standard A3 S line S-Tronic (fantastic will not buy another manual, even got 12 auto Scania's at work on the back of auto gearbox's)
brilliant black- extras 20 spoke alloys and cruise control, all I could afford!! Alloys are hot sh*t though! Price retailed at 24.5k got it for 21,250 good price????
Paid cash (dont tell the missus!!) Love everything about it and what is said above and more.
The only thing is getting Pi**ed wet when you open the window (someone must be able to design a gutter system!!)
Loved the front end from the ad! falling through the water!
I have the 170 and it is great off the line especially in S-tronic!!
Big up this forum and my only regret is I did not find it before I bought my A3.
