Im pretty much dead set on getting the map done in 2 weeks time but just wanted some reassurance that some like minded people have done the same and have no horror stories.

Also looking to upgrade the fuel pump, is it worth it?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I'll be getting it done at the end of this month.

Where are you going to have it put on?

statler in Sheffield, had a good chat with them today. £575 all in which seems a fair price.

You do not need the uprated fuel pump, according to GIAC HQ in the states the hammer map is specifically designed for the S3 with no hardware changes required.

The issues you read about ref the 2.0T fuel pump and its max power capability is in reference to the lower powered 2.0T variants, yes they share the same fuel pump but according to Superchips and VW racing some other components linked to fuel distribution are uprated on the S3/ED30/Cupra R block.

It's understandable to be concerned but don't worry you will not regret it, money very well spent and fantastic results even if 330bhp remains to be substantiated.

I'd do it again, in fact I plan to before the year is out :)

What date you getting it done??? would be good to see how 2 cars compare on the same day.

I dont understand how its possible to get 330hp without no hardware change at all? No other tuner do this to the engine.

Has some one done a dyno of this hammer map to confirm it?
Is it good for the engine to push this limit?

The Americans dont even have the S3 over there.

I know its possible to turn the turbo pressure and ignition hard ,but is it long term tested,do the they know what happens after let say 1000miles.

I know for a fact that for example,MTM and Hohenester have done testing for months before they released their 310hp map.

This is my concern, with it offering bigger gains than any other map im wondering how they have achieved this.

If i can get some genuine feedback it will give me a better idea.

I have yet to hear of a Hammer map making 330bhp either.. Nearly went for it myself, but went with Revo again in the end and i'm well chuffed..
I'm going to Awesome on sat for Golf GTI.co.uk RR day and a lad called Keith is putting his Edition 30 on the rollers and that has the Hammer map, had it on for a while too..
There is a mixture of Edition 30's with different maps (Bluefin, Revo, APR, GIAC etc) all running, so will be interesting to see the results.. As I said on a previous thread, I will post the results for those that are interested..

Im going to have to wait until the end of this month as a few other things have munched my disposable cash. :sob:

Nice!
Let us know then

My car before was an GTI Edition 30 with Hohenester tuning,i had 320hp and 440nm.And it was remap, full exhaust from turbo, panel filter, and S3 intercooler on it.And that sucker was insane quick, but hard to get the force down

Yes mate, remember you well..
Will post results up sunday hopefully..
You doing the same mods with the S3?

Someone on here had their GIAC hammer mapped s3 on a rolling road I'm sure, cant remember exactly what figures it produced, but it was a fair way lower than 330hp. Have a search.

Does anyone has Superchips map on S3? How long? Same question for SKN

I had my car with the hammer map on the rollers at Awesome but only got ATW figures, I remainand unconvinced that the map ctually produces 330bhp but it is certainly far quicker and torquer than standard, I originally had the '310' map and the difference between this and the hammer was noticeable but not to a massive degree.

Forget the claimed figures as all tuners tend to post best scenario, concentrate on how the car feels and drives, I do remember that on the day the Revo car produced slightly more power, the GIAC more torque.

Wasn't there a couple of S£ owners who had suffered this problem on here a couple of months back Spin?

:uhm:

Yes but not fuel pump related.
They were unfortunate in that the remap exagerated an existing fault, the faults were not caused by the actual map, can't remember exactly what the cause was but the symptoms were a misfire around 6,000 rpm, it all went quiet so I assume the issues were resolved.

I'm off to the Nurburgring next week in my Giac hammer mapped S3. I intend to get the frustrations of commuting and uk traffic jams out of my system so will be pushing the car as hard as i can as often as i can including top speed runs. I'll post any fault lights or problems (fingers crossed, not).

I tend to think the name of the map being 330 is just clever marketing to attract customers. Remember, it is the 330 hammer map not the 330bhp map. Reading through posts it seems to me there isn't a great deal between the reputable maps. That said i'm more than happy with mine.

After becoming a master in chiptuning (while trying to get my S3 remapped and running by several companies :D) I can say that all sorts of misfires are due to retarded timing by either too much boost, or poor fuel....I find the car very sensitive to fuel quality, in my country at least all of the remaps did not work, and this is not only in my car, we also had problems in another friends car.

In my opinion, I would not push the car so much, I´d rather get a smoother remap.....those torque-monster remaps will kill the clutch in little time, I have seen several threads about the stock clutch going already on mapped cars....

I had my past car,GTI Edition 30 at rototest. And this is what i gave with
Hohenester remap,full exhaust,panelfilter and S3 intercooler

Its wheel power and torque you see here,so add some % to get the engine power.Real power and no ********!
I will go for the same remap for my S3

I dont know if you got this german tuner in England, but if you get a chance, try it....

there was a thread not long ago where HALF the members with the hammer map (and in denial) were having various problems

that said, i'll be chipping soon as well.

I got 301bhp @ the wheels from mine @ Awesome, but thought that sounded too much..

Will see what she gets the 2nd time..;)
