Working for Audi certainly has its plus points. We launched our new RS6 model last night, and I've taken her for a quick 15 minute blast today. I'd have a longer run ideally, but I simply don't have the time today.

First impressions, is that she's a huge beast now..Extremely long and wide.
Firing her up, she doesn't sound like a "traditional" RS. Much more understated at idle. A blip of the throttle reminds one that she is a true RS however.

Not as fast off the mark as the old RS6 in my opinion (from what I remember). Once the trottle is nailed, the rev's fly up quicker than you can count them. I must say that the gear change is INCREDIBLY fast-more like a DSG change than a TIP change. The change even sounds similar to a dsg box. Where it really comes in to it's own tho, is from a "crusing" 75 mph, up to 12*. Very, very swift indeed.:undwech: Turn of speed is fantastic, and the noise at the higher RPM's sounds stunning.
:hubbahubba:
Brakes are incredibly sharp, and the steering is presise, but not too heavy or lacking feel.

I'll have more time to evaluate later, but thought i'd share this with you now!

The other thing is that the heat from the huge power plant is so, so hot. After a quick blast, and standing her still for an hour, the warmth from the engine bay is unreal! To hot to touch...

Anyhow, another true RS....all be it a tad expensive!

You jammy bast**d :beerchug: (& thats meant in the nicest of ways).
Not sure about the RS6 as yet, love the B7 RS4 (and older B5's too plus the C5 RS6). when I see one in the flesh who knows!!

i thought 12 mph was sufficent. it saw 14 mph later if you catch my drift...!

i went to the launch of the new rs6 at solihull audi. To be honest i thought the car was crap compared to the old one. I was really disapointed. Been loaded with loads of extra stupid things and bits like cup holders have been moved to stupid places ect. Still waiting for my promised test drive. Maybe i will change my mind after that! Sort of think they dont want me to drive it tho, they know me down there and have worked on my car. I was also told that i might find it a bit slow compared to mine and maybe i should take a rs4 out before hand so i have something to compare to. The breaks looked mighty big tho. Might be putting a set of them on mine!

Driven the new RS6 about 1500 miles now, having done 20000 in the old ones. Drive it mattysupra, you WILL change your mind. The gearbox is stunning - quick shifting and smooth. Sounds like an S-Tronic changing up, doesn't mix itself up and kick you in the back. The car is properly quick, astonishingly quick, certainly quicker than a standard old one mid range. 0-20 may be slower. It does need a louder exhaust though! Seats are great, handling is far better and you get more toys as well. Heaven.

Forgive me as im new around hear and dont know who you are! But have you brought a new rs6 or do you work for audi? I take it you used to own a rs6? If you work for audi i think i need some tech speak with you ect, like will the gearbox fit the v8, does the drc shocks fit the old valves ect ect. Please reply so i know how much knowledge you have of the 6 as a owner or a mechanic. Thanks matt.

Apologies for necro-post, but this section is pretty quiet....

Did anyone else see the RS6 being driven around Castle Coombe at Audi Driver International? I was initially skeptical about the car but honestly I was amazed at the speed of the thing, it was like a jet fighter! It obliterated everything else on the track (apart from the unlucky RS4 whose driver managed that by himself :ermm:).

It doesn't look that special but Christ it can certainly move...:undwech:

i got to go in that. it was brilliant he was good down by the marshals but at the top and on the chicane he was sliding everywhere and leaving a trail of smoke in his wake excellent!!:icon_thumright:
