Rolling Road done on Bluefin (S3)

thats all good, esp for comparisons sake, but
how are the dynos then calculating fly figures? a magic multiplier? surely this would introduce a LOT of error...
unless everyone uses the same multiplier...

Correct there is a lot of error , thats why there is so much stress when trying to find a good accurate RR.

To ressurect an old thread:

Is it only superchips that do the Plug in map? I've got the urge to up the BHP but want the capacity to put the stock map back for stealer visits.

Also, Bucks is a hell of a way to go to get the map tweaked. What if i shell out £500 sheets and the difference is negligable?

Maybe i should tie a purchase in with the RR day. With this in mind, how long does it take from purchase to actually recieving the map??

Thanks guys

Leon

Superchips/Blufin , GIAC , REVO all do switchers to put it back to stock.

From what i can gather Superchips is slightly more transparent than the other under CLOSE scrutiny.

REVO will be available at the RR day, Jordans mate is getting he's mapped as well.

Superchips seem to put out a BIT less power than the other two.

Your call mate.

p

EDIT not quite right there Lee , GIAC map and flashloader is around £ 620.

The REVO SPS is £850 , but that lets you controle boost, timing , fuel, ect.

Hmmm. The Bluefin is cheap. £450 with discount! I would love to take you up on that offer Lee. Theres nothing to lose with the money back guarrantee!!

Hmmmmm. But more power... GIAC... 330bhp??

*Spacers with more power... Bad idea?*

Hehe.

Guys, is it a bad idea to get a remap if the car has spacers fitted?

Also, does having spacers have a negative effect on power?

Just spoken to Steve at Statler, nice chap.

He's quoted me £585 (forum discount applied) all in for the GIAC 330map with flashloader.

I think im going to go ahead with it as you actually take your car in and get the full service :D

Asked about the Spacers and they dont present a problem. yippee

Two weeks to goo ;)

Go and have a coffee Geezer !! :)

GIAC, GIAC, GIAC, Statller, Statller - you know it makes sense give Junior a call to discuss and see what you think after the conversation, your decision on wether to keep the remap should be based on the improvements to driveability rather than a dyno print out.

Hehe, you must have read my mind Spin.

Just got off the phone with Steve from Statller. She's going in for the 330 Giac map

Roll on August :yahoo:

Good good good , there should be a couple of REVO cars and a couple of GIAC cars , and at least one Superchips car at the RR day.......and a few Std ones too boot!

Can't wait!

Spacers are fine mate.

Im not sure whats going to happen at Stattler, maybe i'll get a plot from there with and without the map. I'm still going to come to your planned RR day, but may not go on the rollers If Stattler are going to run it..

Either way you'll see me on the day, need to pay £20 towards Kontras run :blownose:

Leon

RS tuning also do there own version of the bluefin now, they can either map the car on the rollers but the haldex fuse will have to be removed or they can do it on the road (so to speak)

If you go for one let me know how you get on, also seen as though your from Yorkshire wouldnt mind seing how a standard car faires against a mapped one.

Cheers

^^^^^Hiya mate , i spoke to you the other night on Cliosport, my names Leon , but not on here! LOL

Paul ( RStuning ) knows his stuff and he's a great lad ( he remapped my old 182 ) but he made his name tuning Renault!

Renault and VAG are two very different beasts! when i get my car mapped i'm gonna stick to a specialist VAG tunner.....makes sense to me!

A bit off thread - but has anyone with Bluefin out there noticed any mpg changes since installation ? Had mine about 2 weeks now and been ragging it silly - but for the last 3 days my 2 year old daughter (who hasn't started her love affair with torque - yet) has been with me all day so I've been dawdling around without ever going much beyond 5k rpm.

With mainly town driving and some 50mph A roads (no motorway) I'm showing 27.8 mpg. Seems high to me.

Not that I'll ever see these figures again mind ......

Nice one. 28th June is in my diary. Do I just pitch up at the Prosport place in Stockport for 9am ?

Yeah mate , i'll sort a running order out nearer the time , so some peeps might get a couple more hours in bed!

p

Ahh yes i thought i reckognised the pic, well i got the car now and its great :) i kind of agree with you about the RS tuning option.

With the car only being 6 months old im still undecided about getting a remap done.

Put me down for the RR day aswell please mate.

Cheers

Be interested to see how the different maps compare..
I'm going to Awesome next sat with GolfGTI.co.uk and will be running mine again now she has a few more miles on clock (only 1100 last time and mods were only put on hours before, so may differ slightly, who knows).. Anyway, there is a mixture of ED30's going with different maps (Revo, GIAC Hammer, Bluefin, Custom Code) so will post the results up if anyone is interested...?
Need to get a RR day sorted with S3's, Ed30's and Cupra's I reckon..

^^^^I'm intersted in your figures mate!

Yeah a 2.0TFSI shootout will be fun!

It will have to be on a fully 4WD Dyno though for the S3 , as you can't just take out the fuse like the old 8L's for fly/clutch figures.

p

anybody running a miltek cat back aswell as the remap??? any real gains?? think i may get them both done and although after just being pulled by the police with my mates in there r32 and f430 im worried about losing my license.

you won't get much from just a catback but it will sound nicer.

Will put up results on the sunday hopefully..

does anybody know what i should expect from phase 2 i would like to get the full miltec, forge dv an just keep my green cotton filter and upgrade to cc phase 2. at the moment i have 316bhp/305ftlbs. i am very happy with the map so far and i have not heard of any other s3,s with a cc on it, but would like to know what some other cars are producing with different maps thanks

I think to see " big meaty gains " you'd need to go for some upgraded intake/CAF as well as the Miltek.

EDIT>>>>> Your at the stage now where small gains are gonna cost decent money ie Mitek system , down pipe/sports cat , decent intake/CAF , fuel pump , new software , even a Forge DV £150.
