BTW, I know some of the posts seem OTT (mine included), but (in my case) it's a reaction to the fact we all know two things.

1/ The police are highly unlikely to do anything.
2/ Even if they do, he'll just get 50 hours decorating an old folk's home

wasn't there a post about this recently where a Tech in one of the Audi dealerships in the UK was doing the same thing? Making note of the address of cars that came in for a service and passing them on to his mates to pop round and liberate?
 
Not sure about that. But the police believe my mates RS4 theft was an inside job. But the insurance paid out and it never went any further.......
 
Why don't we buy one pair... and we all go to meet the chap.... and have a "friendly" conversation about where he sources the stuff...

When i bought my car from Audi down in the southwest earlier this year the manager of the dealership was telling me a very interesting story while trying to sell me GAP insurance. To be honest he could have used a better example because he just made the dealership sound like a bunch of inept tossers....

A guy had brought an RS4 convertible in for a bit of work, maybe a service and while it was locked up in Audi's garage overnight it was stolen! He also quoted me an occasion when an A5 was vandalised in the carpark. This was just after the manager had told me that they don't actually sell many cars down there with it being in a small town. Can't help but be a TINY bit suspicious. I mean how much is a bit of Audi insider info worth to criminals?
 
That reminds me, a Glasgow Audi dealership had something like 4 x RS4's stolen from their compound last week/week before.
I'll see if I can find a link to the story.
Could be where 'sunny jim' is getting his mirrors from!
 
This was a few years ago but my mate had a Corrado VR6 Storm in for servicing in a well known VW dealership in Manchester - the car stayed in the garage overnight while a part was sourced. The next day he got a call from them to say it had been stolen during the night - turns out they'd used a Golf (also in for servicing) as a battering ram to force open the doors from the inside to get the Corrado out.

Now given how rare those Storms were (only 500 sold in the UK) and that the car was almost certainly stolen to order - how would a bunch of thieving t*ats ever get to find out that there was one Storm in that particular garage on that particular night ? Only if someone inside the garage was tipping people off ...... I'm sure it goes on.
 
Course it goes on. It's exactly the same as bank workers and financial administration workers....They are often approached outside of work by organised criminals and 'asked' to provide them with details of clients fitting a certain financial status which they then take to the cleaners.

I'm sure it can be quite lucrative being an 'insider'

Forgive me if i'm being naive, I'm not an experienced car sprayer...but could you not buy a cheap pair of black mirror covers and spray them chrome?

You can paint them in any shade but to achieve same effect you would have to actually really chrome them and that is really expensive...

But best is really the alluminium casing... that looks as it should..

There is nothing pathetic about this... and call me old fashion but a bit of "education" never hurted anyone....

If those guys were raised on normal families where respect for elders and other was important they would never go this way, nicking others people hard earned goods...

I am pretty sure they don't nick it to put food on the table!!!

I just can't stand vandals or petty criminals.... I despise them and a good slap in the face would do no harm at all... But no they have they rights!!!! Sure thing!! Like I have the right to park my car legally and not be worried about my wing mirrors been nicked....

what I do find particularly amusing is picking a random advert on ebay and everyone making statements that the items the guy is selling are stolen - can anyone provide absolute proof?

nah, it's much more fun being judge and jury
 
well I actually agree with you there... an advert in eBay is nothing... My opinions were only in case of we find the thieves... just as an example...

As my previous , i am with sleep envy on this one. appears to be turning into a virtual witch hunt with a load of cobblers stirred in for good measures.
Any of the threads that follow the 'too good to be true' etc i can appreciate, i can kind of follow the 'suspicion' due to its a high risk item and command strong money and are a commonly stolen item.
As for the random vigilante comments , who actually would do ANYTHING about it? come on , lets be honest ..............
Where does it end ? If anyone knows my ebay user name will they report me for selling goods to cheap to be true ?
Can sleep envy trawl the forum and report anyone whos admitted to going over the National Limit ? No ? does it then make it double standards , therefore making us worse than a scrote as they know exactly where they stand.Whereas we pretend to be something we are not!

I could give you several examples of when, although I haven't been the direct victim, I have been asked to get involved in the 'recovery' of items.
So the answer, for me, is a wholehearted yes.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather I/we didn't have to do it, but the fact is the coppers can't, or won't, do anything about it.

BTW, I'm still 100% convinced this scrote is a thief.
Innocent until proven guilty, yes, but that shouldn't stop people reporting suspicious activity.
 
Oh god some people take things wayyy too seriously. Before the morality police shut this forum down, i very much doubt anyone is actually thinking of beating this guy to a pulp. Yes we're using him as a scape goat as he's the first example we've come across....Not to mention i do enjoy a good comedy witch hunt. No harm done!
I also don't see anything wrong in informing the police. Surely to god reporting a suspected crime is the correct thing to do. If nothing comes of it and the guy is innocent then no worries.
However, if he or anyone else is selling stolen items of personal property on Ebay i'd have no issues in beating him to a pulp with his own stolen merchandise.
We let people get away with way way too much in this nation (Britain for our foreign friends) and we ALWAYS give criminals the benefit of the doubt. Well i'm sorry but f**k that.

I'll start putting my manifesto together, first on the list....light corporal punishment, removal of speed bumps and unnecessary speed cameras, halving petrol tax, controlled immigration... lol

Actually joking apart: More, and i mean WAY more needs to be done about uninsured, untaxed and unlisenced drivers. Speaking of scumbags and all!!

So now we see criminal offences as working on a tiered system with some being more acceptable than others ?
Speeding is not victimless when people get injured/die/loss to property . I dont agree with the 'speed does not kill' theory , unfortnately yes it does - especially coupled of poor driving.
And where on the scale of the tiered system ,above or below theft , do you see demanding money/property by menace (if that is what you are alluding to) ?
i think you will find the average 'copper' joind the force to make a difference , if you seriously think PC 123 Bloggs sits on his ar$e and thinks " $crew Bowfers mirrors" you are very much mistaken.
As with all things - its time and resources - both of which cost lots of our money. If we want more coppers, more arrests,safer community , we hand over more money.
If there 101% NO road traffic offences committed , then that money would be spent on 'proper policing' as it is often referred to.


Cant wait until a result appears , we can all laugh and say what a good laugh it was :jester:
 
Rrrright, so no coppers join the force for the career opportunities, pension scheme or basic free rule to do as you wish as long as you wear the badge? Not to mention the few who actually join with the intention of being bent? It's well known the police force has deeply institutionalised racism and prejudice.
I'm definitely no anti-copper protestor, i have several mates who are coppers... but to say most people join the force to make a difference isn't entirely true.... It's just a good safe job for life with a bit of hands on excitement, not a charity organisation.

Err - yes. Of course. Dropping a crisp packet is a crime. So is mass murder. But I'm pretty convinced the latter is higher up the "tier" of naughty things to do. Crime does come in tiers - just like the punishments designed to fit it. In your world I'd get the same punishment for speeding as I would for genocide.

At the point someone gets injured/dies/loss to property, a different charge comes into play.
If you kill someone, it becomes death by dangeorus etc.etc.
Speeding is a victimless crime, which doesn't attract a criminal record.
So to even mention it in the same breath as theft is mental.:haudrauf:
