F1... Whos your money on this year?

I will have to record it and avoid any contact with any sort of media all day!

lol thats a ******! Earphones in all day with a t-shirt saying "dont tell me the results!"

Think your probably right about Massa. Theres seems to be the odd track where he just finds a groove and hes off. Do you recon Lewis is running a little light considering he spend most of his time hacking at the wheel and on the hard tyres? Tomo's race is going to be a big one to miss!

Lewis did well to get that time considering he was on hard tyres, maybe running light though? I gotta say I think the way he corrects his car when it gets out of shape is amazing most of the time, possibly better at it than any of the others , he certainly looked very unhappy with his choice of tyre at the press conference though, looking forward to the race tommorrow, I'm hoping lewis & heikki have a good race, but massa says he owns that track & he certainly has for the last few years so maybe it'll be business as usual for you reds lol.

Deafinately! Watching him on one of his runs, the back end let go I think it was between the 2nd and 3rd apex of turn 8, and he cought it! Pretty much powerslid through and he still kept it on the black stuff! Was very impressive to watch... He likes dancing the car around so maybe hes a rally driver at heart!

Well that was a good race! Some fantastic battles going on! I guess all the overtaking for this race is to make up for the lack of it come 2 weeks time!

Kimi's race was compramised by the start. Dropping to 6th didn't help him and neither did his broken wing. Was pretty much Massa's weekend!

McLaren played it pretty smart by opting for a 3 stop I thought. I know they gave the reason about Bridgestone saying that they had to, but didn't Heikki do a 2 stop? It was the sort of thing where if it didn't work out for them, they would have looked like idiots but Hamilton pushed like hell to make sure they didn't so fair play to him!

We may have a championship battle on our hands...

I agree about Hamiltons corrections, he seems to be able to slide but still maintain a lot of forward speed, everyone else just grind to a halt as soon as the back end steps out.

Any way, I managed to avoid all contact with the media and watched the race at 10pm last night. Really good race, I liked Hamiltons strategy, it could have gone very wrong but it just shows how good he is.
Hopefully McLaren can keep pace like this with Ferrari for the rest of the season and we will have some damn good racing!!

Hekki did a 3 stop, not sure if this is going to go all the way, I don't see anyone other tha Kimi wining the title

Heikki's 1st stop was right at the start of the race to replace a puncture so doesn't really count towards his strategy. They just replaced the wheels and off he went. Reading about it today, it was just Hamilton that had problems because of his driving style and the way he likes his car set up (stiff setup apparently). This caused him to push his tyres beyond the limit so couldn't do too many laps before they went pop hence being forced to do a 3 stop.

Thats right, lewis had 3 stopps over heikkis 2 because of his driving style and been more aggresive on his tyres, I think when he overtook massa about half way through was great to watch, I know massa won & I'm a little biased but got to say lewis's race was just about perfect in terms of his driving & stratergy despite been second.

Can't wait for monaco in two weeks.

Got to agree with you on Hamilton's move on Massa. He saw a gap just wide enough and went for it! Massa done well on the basis that he owned the weekend, however Hamilton done just as well if not better by driving his a$$ off for that 2nd place! Its probably not fair to call Massa's race easy but Hamilton's sure wasn't! He had to make sure he was pushing 110% every single lap to make his 3 stop work.

Not too sure about Monaco as a circuit... You'll never see anyone overtake on track. Its all won and lost in the pits. But will be a good battle none the less.

So who's your money going on this time round guys? I honestly couldn't say. Might be McLaren boys turn to win, but then again Ferrari could do something!

They expecting rain and you've already got drivers moaning, saying that with the lack of TC, Monaco will be dangerous in the wet. This really annoys me! They are the best drivers in the world, getting paid millions to do what they do best! Quit the moaning and get out there! If they are scared that they gonna crash they should get out the driving seat and take up chess! Its why I like Webber. He tells it as it is...

I'm thinking (& hoping) it will be Mclarens race this one, and going on lewis's practice session lap times he's looking very strong, rain would make it intresting too.

Hamilton is looking pretty racey isnt he. If it stays dry, the race should be his. If it rains, then its a lottery! Be interesting to see how many people fall foul of the safety car/pit stop rule. All cars will probably pit with 3 laps left in the tank to play it safe.

I really thought ham would get pole, massa was well shocked, it was very close between all three of them though.

They all looked a bit shocked! Didn't expect a Ferrari front row. I dont think they are running light because they were quick in all sessions. Their speed seems to have come from nowhere! Race should be interesting if it rains. Going to be recording it because I'm gonna be missing it!!! :(

Your in for a treat of a race when you see it coz mate, I'll not tell you the result though, got to be the best monaco since senna's days.

With a bit of luck, anything can happen. ;)

lol. As soon as I stepped home I told everyone to quit what they were watching and the race went straight on!

Got to say, it was a cracker! Even tho it all went pear shaped for Ferrari! Got a championship battle on our hands now! There was a bit of everything there wasn't there?! Them barriers don't forgive... I really do feel sorry for Sutil. He done a great job keeping his nose clean - 'till Kimi slammed into the back of him!

Nothing wrong with a bit of luck! Although Lewis' luck took the pi$$ a bit! lol Going into the barriers forcing a rear puncture, only to fall into arguably the best possible stratergy! Makes me laugh lol. Fair play to the guy :icon_thumright:

Was the result you were after eh 'willnabby'?

A lewis - heikki 1-2 would have really been what I wanted but I'm well happy with the outcome, I think ham was lucky in terms of that he didnt do more damage when he got the puncture but the combo of his perfect drive from then on and the teams quick thinking stratergy change made it a deserved win, he was 40 sec ahead until the saftey car after rosberg's smash, really did feel for sutil though, he made up all his places through good driving, I don't think he inherited any places through accidents etc (could be wrong?) think I'm gonna watch highlights in a bit because it was that good.

Oh deafinately. Taking nothing away from Lewis! He pushed like mad to make it all work. Untouchable really. Apparently Sutil got a slap on the wrist because he overtook 3 people under a yellow flag. He's not going to be sitting in fourth again in his Force India! Maybe not until next years Monaco race anyway!

I thought for once ot was a good race, Hamilton for once did deserve to win.

i'm not really a hamilton fan, yes he has done well but I think last year he walked into the better car, this year he's finished best of the rest although clearly the Ferrari is the better car. I thin Kubica deserves a win and i'm sure it will come this year.

Even tho I follow the red cars, I think Lewis proved himself to have the opportunity to be in the best car on the grid last year. I think he done great for a first year. Think this year will be tougher for him.

As for Ferrari having the best car this year.... I'm not so sure yet. Something that could be argued. The best car in the first few races, then yes! I think McLaren may have cought them up but these 2 races were always Ferrari's weakest so well see.

Kubica deafinately deserves a win. Very consistant driver. I can see him wearing Ferrari overalls in the future. Great driver...

I think kubica deserves a win soon, don't think it'll be far away either, BMW seem to be having good progress car wise this year, all in all it's certainly making it more appealing than it has been for years of shuey domination, now theres 4-5 drivers who are all very competetive.

Ive Got a feeling Kubica is gonna have a good chance of winning it this season, as a few people have said hes very consistant and i think the bmw has been a good performer so far, but only time will tell.

Well done to lewis hamilton on winning the monaco race that was well deserved.

Right, I can't believe I have been away from this thread for so long and there was a cracking race! My wife decieded to go into labour just in time for the Grand Prix! So I was trying to give her support while looking over her shoulder at the TV of the race. I managed to see most of it, but near the end she was near to giving birth so I turned the screen away (but we had the sound on). My wife even asked what the final order was while having an emergancy section!
Any way, Hamilton was lucky not to have smashed his car up more at the start, but the fueling decision was pure tactical genius. Whoever made the decision knew it was their only chance of winning and relied on Hamiltons ability to race over the limit for sustained periods. When he gets in that groove he is amazing.
Right at the start of the season I said this year would show Kubica for the racer he is. He has skill, desire and consistancy and has shown up his team mate so far this season.

lol excellent! Congrats tho mate! :icon_thumright: Must have been an amazing day for you! Another member of the family to follow F1?!

I was wondering where you were. Figured you were at another show or something. But yea... great race. Kubica is going to have a choice of contracts to sign come the middle/end of the season.

What do you guys recon of Danica Patrick? Rumours have it that Rubens could go and race for Andretti Green Racing (Danica's team) at the end of his contract. Whats the chances of a straight swap with her considering that Honda supply engines to IndyCar?

I'm not really up on Indy, but I'm sure it is something Bernie would whole heartedly back. Think of the marketing opportunities with a woman driver, Bernie could market F1 to a whole new market!!

As far as I know the last woman driver did a few races in the early 70's but not with any significant results & like you say John F1 wasn't the corperate machine it is now in the days when bernie was just one of the 'also ran' team bosses, lol.

Will be a good season hopefully with mclaren and ferrari trading wins, hopefully lewis can win this year (gutted he didnt last yr, he had it in the bag and it was ****** away with poor mclaren tactics).

got to say immensely disappointed with Kovalinen, he isnt backing up hamilton at all and its 1 mclaren vs 2 ferraris. its always handy to have two fast cars up there to take up a position and keep the other competitors at bay. Kubica in that 2nd mclaren would be interesting

last year I think having Alonso in the Mclaren was good for lewis, he learned a lot from it and although he took 4 wins, it stopped the ferraris winning and running away with the championship.

as I said, it will be interesting, if Hamilton can win another couple of races he will make a strong case for being champ this year and ensure the title goes down to the wire

So whats our predictions for this weekend lads? Ment to be a wet weekend so could be another action packed race! The 1st practice was wet and they say that theres a strong possibility of it staying that way come sunday. Will it be another McLaren weekend or will the red cars provide a battle? Should be a good one.

I say 4 cars will end up in the wall of champions...

Mclaren of course:racer:

As before rain could add a different dimension, if it were dry I'm afraid it could be the reds, this year their straight line speed is good, don't think it'll be the walkover it was last year for Mclaren but if it does rain I hope hamilton can show us some of his great corrective skills again, always good to watch that.

Looks like it'll be Lewis' race tomo! He is MIGHTY through the last corner! Should be a good fight none the less. Nice and mixed up!

Thought the reds would be faster, but lewis showed his inch perfect precision again, 3/4 of a second faster on a crumbling track!! gonna be a good race.

Who said you need rain to make a race interesting! I say that its compulsory for ALL tracks to use the same tarmac as the type used in Montreal?! What do we think? lol

I wonder what the odds were on a BWM 1-2... ****** good race tho! Rookie mistake by Hamilton. I dont think Sultil will feel sorry for Kimi somehow!

well done kubica and also to massa, no sympathy for hamilton what so ever, he really should have been paying attention, imagine the uproar if kimi had have hit hamilton ... coultard had a good race too.
