When did the 8P S3 come out?

As above , i saw a 03 plate this morning , it looked like a real number plate , not a private plate , it's had me scratching my head all day.

I have also seen a couple of 55 plate ones now!

Any ideas?

I think first UK cars were on the roads in October November time 2006, so should be 56 plates. My uncle just got a private plate that looks completely normal and only has significance to him!
I rodered mine November 2006 shortly after all the mags had done their road tests... when those guys got the first UK cars I was so jealous!

I think 56 were the first ones too = but there are a few replicas out on earlier plates which look pretty convincing! Maybe you saw one of those?

If this was a rep he'd done a good job bumpers, grill , mirrors, badges, rear defuser.

Audi made a press release on the 1st August 06 where they announced the 8P S3. It stated that the first customer cars were expected in January 07. I'd had a deposit down on one since June 2006 and my car arrived in early January 07. Some of the tyresmoke guys (only 2 or 3 I think) got their cars in December 06.

Mine is a 56 plate, registered in uk 1st Nov 06 if that helps.

Order book was only opened early October, as the dealer rang me as I had already reserved a slot in August with a deposit,first cars came through to dealers November. Earliest are 56 plates.

Some people for some reason seem to keep "normal" plates ie ones they have had on cars which are not private plates and transfer them from car to car....

May be someone who is a bit nostalgic about a 03 plate they have had and put it on a new 8P S3??
