BMW 335d Msport to S3 S Tronic......

Ive seen a lot of E46's being driven by chavs lately, with pimped up chrome stuff on it.. Ruined that car for me.

Thats the problem with them being available from about £14K now, going to be an influx up w$nked up M3's kicking around. On the plus side it wont take them long to put them into a tree...

J.

Its a shame, but i suppose thats where a lot of desirable performance cars end up.. in the hands of nuggets..

My good friend has an E46 and has done for a long time, paid the full asking in 2002, im addicted to the sound that thing makes :D

Everytime I get in the stereo gets turned off and the windows put down :D

Funnily enough i've never liked the sound of the M3 (not the new one). The 330 has a great low end rumble but at high revs the M3 sounds like a wasp stuck in a tin can.

Lol, it does a bit, but I love it!

What about the induction roar on a M3 Cls on full chat! The only reason I bought an induction kit for mine :)

J.

Amazing! Wish my S3 sounded half as good!

The best sound I've ever heard come out of a car was from a Ferrari 355 with some fancy exhaust, made me weak at the knees!

I hope Bowfer doesn't read this! ;)

The same can be said for all " performance cars " the older the car/lower the value the more ti*s can aford them.

Right the way up from Saxo VTS - e46 M3 , with Evo's and Subarus in the middle and one day the S3 will be in the same boat.

Flat plane crank does that do people:jump:

Heard one having a go in a tunnel recently...could have creamed my pants.

The only way to avoid it is to keep yours a pristine, original example and don't mess about with it. I still see mint Evo V's and some Scooby RB5's which i think are really nice cars. It's when people start modding them to within an inch of their lives it goes pear shaped.

I was in a pub beer garden the other weekend (no change there) and a guy in a gallardo with some insane exhaust pulled out and booted it full throttle up the hill. The sound can only be described as a jumbo jet in free fall and i could still hear it a few minutes later.

I'm sure it sounded lovely, on the singular occasion you heard it.
I'm even willing to admit an RS4 sounds lovely, on the odd occasion.
I bet you'd change your mind if one kept driving past your house though.:sign_omg:

My favourite neighbour?
The old chinese guy with the Prius...
Whhhhhhsssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....:respekt:

Crap I've just ordered a carbon fibre dash, set of 19"s and some lowering springs for mine...
:(

Where's the carbon dash from? Is it OEM? And what alloys have you gone for? I'm pretty much decided if i go for a Z4 coupe i'm having some 19" M6 wheels or funds permitting...some Breyton Flame / Spirit....Wheel porn. Then again...Hartge make some fine beamer wheels.

I had planned to go for a set of breyton GT racers but in the end I went for the tried and trust BBS CH's (Cheers Phil :) ) I looked on tirerack.com and the breytons are about 8lbs a wheel heavier than the BBS. so that made up my mind for me.

The dash is a third part one, it's from bmwmstyle. It's being made at the mo, I'll post up some pics in a couple of weeks if you like.

J.

to give you an idea of what it looks like (although not that one and no orange in sight!)

www.bmwmstyle.co.uk is the website.

I'm 42 this year and still like the same type of cars I always have done, most of my car history originated in the hot hatch era and I'm damn proud to say so.

I wouldn't consider the S3 to be in the same class as Scooby or Evo's this is nonsense and the cars are clearly aimed at a different market, I would never consider an Evo or a Scooby no matter how fast or Phat as they have zero class IMO.

Whilst I can afford to pay for the badge I will continue to do so, my money my choice.

Those of you who are under 30 and think 40+ is old well all I can say is I hope you get what you wish for - a nice comfy car in which to give up on life and all its good things when you get old at 40!!

The S3 and the Audi range are aimed at middle aged proffesionals which is why styling is more restrained than some of the competition, if you have one in your early 20's you either aren't going to live very long (middle aged) or have no idea what pigeon hole you belong in.

Love 'The oldest Swinger in town' LOL :)

I've seen a Z4 with CH's before.... Looked very nice. I know what you're saying about the Breytons, they are more of a show wheel than built for speed. The Flame Sports might be a bit lighter though. If i could get hold of some OEM magnesium M6 wheels i'd be chuffed. Doubt it's the same fitment though.
Where did you hear about bmwstyle? Is their stuff as good as OEM?

Anyway yeah i'd love to see a few photos of the motor. Other forum goers might not share my enthusiasm though!

Paul.

Wheels I did consider - Breyton GT racers

Gorgeous!!

Tried to talk the wife into letting me have one of these recently, a lot of car available for the money, she did'nt approve due to only 2 seats - we couldn't "..Go out as a family...".

Shame, very, very nice.

That carbon dash does look good. It does strike me that even though BMW interiors are very bland to begin with they're almost like a blank canvas....with a few nice mods they look great, as proved above.

Fortunately i have no plans for a wife or kids at this point so i'm free to **** away as much of my money as i like, hence i'm seriously considering one. Lightly used examples (56-07 reg with less than 10K on the clock) can be had for low £20's. For a rear wheel drive proper sports coupe with a 3.0 lump up front you can't really argue can you?

P.S. Sorry to anyone who's getting angry about this becoming a BMW thread...

Sorry but i had to share these Hartge wheels...I've heard they make ladies moist from a mile away....

Hmmm, the carbon trim kit for the E90 is quite interesting...
£600 though...
Ouch.

You won't be getting one of them Z4 M coupes for low £20k's.

I'm not a BM fan but i drove one of those things around rockingham and if I ever have a big enough win on the lottery I will buy one just for that noise.

I too want to see photos of the marriedblondes Z4 coupe. I love that suede stitched interior, looks a little reminiscent of this:

TBH PNH80 ( i don't want this to turn in to a argument, you sound like a decent bloke who cares for his car, and i respect your decision to buy the car you want , i just wish you would respect your own decision ) your posts come across as very contradictorily. You spent all day on friday justifying the purchase of your S-Line over the S3 , saying the S3's a bit " look at me " and you prefer the slimline looks of the S-line , then in your sig you list all the mods your gonna do inc flash 19's and loud exhaust, and when you were pulled up about them you backed tracked.

Then on Monday your on talking about getting a S3 or a Z4.......stating financial reasons! well i for one wouldn't buy a car i didn't like just because it makes financial sense!

On top of that your talking about modding the S3 or Z4.... pure contradiction!

I'm sorry if this comes accross has having a go at you it's not meant to be personal, but one of the lads in friday's thread said " just admit you bought the wrong car , nobody minds " and nobody does.

Thanks
