Hi guys/gals

Thought i'd stick this up as there's been a few comments regarding the cabriolet post's without any pictures.
I managed to get a road test of a 2.0T auto today, so here goes
took it out on a bit of daul carrigeway and some bad b roads to see how it compared,
i must admit i was very very supprised with how well it handled very little scuttle shake and all in all very well put together which is just what you'd expect from audi,
auto box seemed to be quite quick and smooth even using the paddle change engine was smooth and responsive giving the extra weight that the cab has over the standard car,
now considering that it was only the 'sport' model as there's no S-Line's in the country yet.
the boot space is larger than you'd expect for a cab, had some neat touches inside the cabin too,
liked the button that dropped all four windows at once.
looking forward to getting my Phantom black s-line even more (1st week of july, Hopefully)

a few pics for you all.

Thanks for that! I like it but I don't. I just can't quite make my mind up!! Lets put it that way, I want to like it as I'd love a softop next.
Love the dials and the fact that white has replaced red.

love the new dashboard witht he white DIS, the front looks a bit bland without the S-Line kit tho.

Like eveything except those wheels and I would never have leather in a convertible.

Thanks for taking time to get some pics and share the review....Now for the negative....I really dislike it. The headlights are a monstrosity and i just can't help but think it's a very camp car. No doubt it's a good motor but just not my cup of tea i'm afraid.

it looks better in the flesh, my main worry was it would look identical to an EOS, but thankfully it doesn't

that's why I'm glad i've ordered the s-line:)

i've gone for the half leather/alcantara, so only the side's are leather, didn't want to come back to burning seats in the summer

I hope the S- Line on the facelift helps spruce things up a bit- It seemed rather tame on the few pics I have seen.
Have you seen an S- Line pic of the cab mat?

Only bits i like are the S3 style metal air vent surrounds and the TT style light switch with metal trim.

Would like to get both but so far my search has been fruitless.

Rest of the car is not for me though. I can't help but hear the words hair and dresser every time I see one.

Hmmmm goes to show we are all different, I'm nottotally sure on the a3 Cab but I really like the look of the Vw EOS.

J.

it was a tough decision between the 2, but they are actually very different when you look at them closely.

I too prefer the EOS, by a mile. Cab saloons look well, cab hatches not so..

I think it will be a hot seller though, especially with young proffesional women.

Exactley the A3 cab looks like it's been cut to short at the back, almost 3 series compact!

But I dare say it will be a good seller.

How about the BM 1 series conv? someone near me has just bought the 1 series coupe in black and i am liking the looks of that as well.

J.

used to think the 1 series coupe was an absolute dog but a bloke has a white one at work and it looks very good!

Have read 2-3 magazine reviews of 1 series vs A3 convertible and all rated the A3 higher.

Wouldn't have either though. The A4 convertible is nicer even if it will soon be discontinued! Past couple of times I've been to the Audi dealers I've looked at the A3 convertible and think it looks better in the metal than in pics. Was identical to the one above.

I've got an old issue of 'Car' magazine from a few months ago with a white S-Line cab (with red leather...See 'gay cars' thread) tested against the equivelant BMW 1 series cab. The s-line looks nice to be fair.
I'll see if i can get some scans of the magazine.

Actually in the same mag there's a road and track test of the new Nissan GTR Vs. BMW M3 Vs. Audi R8 Vs. 911 Turbo. Pretty cool!

That is probably one of the ugliest cars Audi has produced since the 5000. The interior looks dated, and sitting in the back with the roof up must give the same effect as being buried alive.

Sorry, do not like it at all.

Well this is the S-line in white next to the beamer. Apologies for the picture quality, it's just a magazine scan...

Nissan blew them all out of the water didnt it?

It did indeed. The journalist said it felt like driving a playstation at times, and maybe too controllable.
Around a track they took the other cars to the limit but the Nissan was privately owned (1st one imported into the UK) so they backed off so not to risk crashing it... And it still killed them all. Consider the GTR is £35K in japan thats a lot of car for the money! AND it laps hockenheim 2 seconds faster than a veyron.
The outcome of the review is that taking everything into account e.g. residuals, new price, performance, value for money, prestige etc....They'd buy the M3.

It doesn't matter how much you look at the 1-series or from what angle its still damn ugly
