Got my insurance renewal through today and was just wondering which company's people use, and how much people pay. I'm 27 with 9 years NCD and tesco's offered £339 fully comp with protected NC but for some reason i have £750 excess, which i will not be keeping , probably go for £200-£300 excess..

Plus, i know it's it's a old yarn but do people tell them about remaps?

Also whats a good search engine for insurance company's now??

Also whats a good search engine for insurance company's now??

Yellow pages/yell.com or any motoring magazine

not sure about the remap question as mine is switchable but ask yourself this question..if you wrote the car off would the insurance company go to all the trouble of putting vag-com on it? I told mine and they put it up forty quid

I use adrian flux

Try the Autotrader insurance search.
I'm with Morethan, last years premium was 230 quid, however i have a few more miles on my clock than you.
Aren't Tesco's giving away Karcher pressure washers away with insurance at the moment?
Nik.

Greenlight seem to be quoting well on the S3 at the moment.

I wouldn't bother with those insurance search websites. It may be more tedious searching every site indiviually but I've always got better quotes this way.

I'm paying £450 fully comp with 10 years no claims, with all my mods declared and both me and the wife both have 6 points each on our licences. Best insurers for modified S3's is AdrianFlux and Greenlight, I usually end up playing each company off each other until I think I'm getting the best deal, excess is £350 IIRC.

Free pressure washers hey! I think i might look into it, plus i think I'll tell them that it's mapped, just for peace of mind, i know what your saying though i wouldn't have thought that the insurance company would bother digging in to ECU files to check if its mapped.

im with churchill and since my recent claim (not my fault) they have been a nightmare.

im 22 4 years N.C and im paying £487

I'm 27 (or will be on Sunday when my insurance is due) 9 years protected NCB,£250 excess, been quoted £472 with Greenlight. That includes H&R springs, ARBs Bilstein dampers, tie bars, short shift, diverter valve, and up to 40BHP increase with a remap.

Didn't think that was too bad?

Cheapest was £350 on confused.com but that was without any mods.

why not try direct after trying confused.....we all know how they pay for the upkeep of their site.... commissions and loadings on policies.... makes sense

Think I'm going to dedicate one evening next week for searching! I like the idea of a free pressure washer with tesco's but i bet they wont give me one as I'm already with them!!

ive just got a quote from greenlight cause mines due in 2weeks and they quoted £880. im 23 with 3yrs NCB. thats on a 2001 S3

You wouldn't want to go with Tesco if you had a Renault then,
a free power washer....you wouldn't have much of a car left !!!

hmmmmm....I use DirectLine and when I made a query to see how much a remap would cost, if I was to happen to put it on my S3, they said an additional £150 pa:think:

Yes I used to be with them,I queried how much extra for my car to go on a trackday....I told her I wanted to take my car round a race circuit which she interpreted as competing in the grand prix!? they are useless

That is ****** good, I'm struggling to get my R32 under £1000 and I'll be 22 at renewal in a few months. I live in a very nice area, too.

Your've had some nice cars 'Golf'......only 21 too, i must be doing something wrong !! Lol

yeah Greenlight for me aswell

26 8 years n/c,protected and remap and porsche brakes declared, o yeah and 3 points under cu80 for mobile phone use :racer::no:

and only £472 so not bad me thinks especially as direct line were my cheapest for 4 years

until i remapped it then they wanted extra £250 for remap and brakes,

were as greenlight look at how long you've had the car for wether your experienced with it

and with the remap they agreed and encourage (apparently) to upgrade brakes so they get my

im 23 paying just short of a grand (fully comp) with zero ncb on an a3 1.8t currently with tesco but im due for renewal next month so will be shopping around myself (and keeping an eye open here for any good sounding deals)

ive just got a quote from greenlight cause mines due in 2weeks and they quoted £880. im 23 with 3yrs NCB. thats on a 2001 S3

just had another quote from them and its gone down too £780

Ive been with Adrian Flux for years, ive also had good quotes from greenlight and usually play them off against eachother to drop the premium.

Greenlight seem to be popping up a fair bit, might give them a try and see if they can match my tescos quote with a lower excess..

im with greelight, 24, 6yrs no claims, modified as per below, £672 FC with mod for mod replacement! :)

Finally got round to hassling Tesco's today about my renewal, after going through a few departments and originally being told I will NOT get better than £339 with £750 excess, I ended up with £400 with my partner on the policy, £300 excess, a pressure washer worth £120 and gold breakdown cover ( put up in a hotel, taken anywhere, home call outs etc.. etc ) I'm quite pleased with that!!

im 24 with 1 yr no claims, 3 points for speeding (wasnt actually my fault though!) and am paying £1300 which initially i thought this was ok...not so sure now though

Greenlight

24 yrs old, all mods declared (like for like replacement too!), 6 yrs NC protected, £670 FC

is that for 10mth policy though?

elephant £818 fully comp 3points 3years no claims im 21

This is quite interesting, see, I did some quotes Tuesday night, eventually went back to Elephant, and for me on a 2001 X REG 225bhp S3 (fully comp, 2 years NCB, no conivs/claims) it totalled just over £740. I'm also 21 years of age..

**edit - Infact, Danotto, have you declared those mods? Ever had a remap go through with Elephant...? How badly did it effect you?

thats 10months but you get a years nop claim etc,no mods declared as they arent perfromance changing ones,yet.lol.i cant find anywhere cheaper than £818, but it also depends on postcode etc

I'm 37 & live in South West London (Not even a good bit) & I paid £600 fully comp (Full NCB) with Admiral including my Remap, thou I think these days it's a post code lottery.
Lot's of companies said they would not insure me, I think it will be cheaper just to move, LOL

Just in the process of looking myself.
Best quote so far is with Admiral, 38yrs old, full ncb, protected for 220 :)
