10mm Spacers as Standard??

Alright folks...

Today when cleaning my car i was getting stuck into the wheels when i noticed there are 10mm spacers on the car. The car was bought as an Audi owned car and was only a few months old. I've never noticed them before. The stance of the car is absolutely standard, doesn't look like the track has been widened at all.
So my question.... Do Audi fit spacers straight out the showroom depending on the wheels you spec?

No ideas mate. Maybe whoever had it as their runabout thought they'd stick them on.

Not that I know of, never ever heard of Audi fitting any spacers on any of there cars mate, I've had s3, s4, a3 etc & not one had any spacers, also if they are on there are there any logos to say if audi's or not?

Tell you what...i'll take some dirty photos tomorrow and post them up. Seems absolutely bizarre to me because like i say...the car doesn't look modified at all stance/track wise...
Out of interest if i find they were fitted by Audi...The car is still under warranty, any grounds for a complaint?

That comment got me stumped aswell staz, complaint??? About what fella, lol, (laughing with you not at you) I see it as an added bonus to be honest mate, lol, as decent ones would cost you £40-50 if hub centric of course, if not hub centric I would remove them, never considered them safe if not centric

You sure it's got spacers fitted and your not just seeing the edge of the brake discs?

Well the irony is... I have just bought some H&R spacers for the back! The ones which are on the car could ctually be H&R as the markings appear very similar with '10mm' and some other text punched into the side (haven't had time to investigate further yet). As i said above i'll get some photos posted later tonight.

The only reason i said 'complaint' is that if my bearings went on the back and i unknowingly took it to Audi only to be told my warranty was void due to spacers i didn't fit i'd be a bit miffed!! If i know there are spacers on the car i'd remove them before taking it in.

So yeh i'm not really ****** off about them, more surprised than anything. Might just bang the 10mm set on the front and buy some 15mm ones for the back. Despite the spacers i still don't think the track looks wide enough.

So...Probably got a pair of H&R 10mm spacers for sale if anyone fancies them?!

Do they make the wheels stick out a bit further and so make it all look a little bit more meaty?

I need to properly look into the situation by taking a back wheel off but if it turns out that i do have a spare pair of spacers i'll be sure to let you know!

Yeah, spacers simply go onto the hub before the wheel and pushes the wheel out into the wheel arch by a nominal amount e.g. 10mm spacers set the wheel out by 10mm more than standard. In my opinion all A3's look like they need spacers on the back from standard. They sit way too far inside the arches in my opinion. Horses for coarses though i suppose!

No idea, I doubt it though looking at its height.

You may be better off getting 12mil for the back , some peeps have tride 15mil , but they rub! not sure if there cars were lowered though!

Yeah the 8P certainly does need spacers on rear as it sits to far inside, where as the front sits very nicely, I tried my S4 spacers which were 20mm but far to big, rubbed, tried my 16mm also rubbed when over bumps, so 12-14 sounds right unless you roll the arches inside mate or a ****** stiff suspension that just doesnt bounce up that high, not recommended though huh.

I would like a better profile on rears of my a3, was gonna look at rolling, any suggestions, was gonna get FSD's soon so might do all at once.

12mil spacer and lowerd , if you want to keep thigs " sort of Std looking " and can be put back to OEM Std easy enough .

Agreed. Even if the car does have spacers on the rear it's not enough....Although I'm not going down the route of rolling the arches. I'm looking to get some new alloys soon (19" sportecs funds permitting) so they'll give the car a wider stance anyway.
For me the only let down about the aesthetics of the A3 S-line is the way the rear wheels sit inside the arches. It's no more than on a golf but something about the A3's shape exaggerates it somehow. Other than that i think it's visually the most balanced car Audi make. Nothing bad to say about it. Easily solved though!
