Do any of you guys know if the lighting panel with map lights etc is the same as the B6 one. Im after retrofitting the red LED's which fit a B6, into a B7???
Anyone done it.?:icon_thumright:

I believe it is, do you have etka as that will show part numbers for either chassis, if part number is same & the letter has changed at end then it is same just updated but should fit fine, if its completely different part number then beware as more than likely something is different.

But even if its slightly of you could easily retrofit it anyway as its only 2 small red led's & wiring.

Thanks.

Nigel.

Could someone please clarify exactly what the 'Ambient Light Pack' is? I have a B6 with most of the bells and whistles, but am not aware of any red LED's in my light panel :readit:

Sorted now , been reading the thread in the S3 forum.

Has anyone done this yet with pics?

I'm aware you can buy the complete uit with the LEDs in or buy the LED unit to mod it yourself.

Now from what i understand is
the LED Unit is part number 8E0 919 063 A
Complete unit excluding LED 8E0 947 135 D + int code (as standard fit)
Complete unit with LED 8E0 947 135 N + int code
Above part numbers are as with no sun roof.

Does anyone know for sure?

I think you can order just the LED and the trim that you normally drill as it has its own part number 8E0 947 133 that way you can get pre drilled holes and the LEDs.

So

I have a B6 so don't know how different the interior lights are, (if at all) :uhm: The below link is a pictorial fitting guide:

The lights themselves are probably as cheap from vagparts as anywhere:

I am going to do this mod soon when I get around to ordering the parts. have you thought about fitting them into the rear interior lights too? I think I am going to. The threads in the A3/S3 forums are worth a read too:

If you get around to this before me I would be interested to see how you get on!

:hi:

I'm just trying to find out if the OEM pre drilled unit looks better than drilling it yourself really

I can do it, but want it to look MINT. (I'm fussy).

I seen the audi diagrams and the trim for the light has its own part number, so im just trying to work out whats what. I dont really want to by the whole unit just what i need.

Trust me there's none fussier than me when it comes to the OEM look ;) but I know I can do as good a job as the factory fit ones with taking care. I hear what your saying, but it is only drilling 2 holes at the end of the day and the measurements are pretty specific. Some lights even have the holes marked on the underside, have you checked yours?

Yeah had the trim off and found the Telephone prep mic too hehe.

Mines got two rings and what i can only call nipples in the center. I was hoping the trim would have the part number on the back but no such luck.:readit:

I've just done mine, easy.
I had to get the Microphone out of the trim, but it was easy.

I drills 5mm holes and dremelled the rest out untill I was happy with the result.

Total Cost £14.05 Inc postage and VAT thanks VAG PARTS

Very nice, just like I had in the Leon, I've got my red glow back.

In my Leon I had the auto dimming rear view mirror with the rain sensor, it was all built into the same unit, along with the LEDs.

yeah it defo fits with no problem - simple job too - 10mins or so.

i installed the unit from Vag Parts last night & for under £15 it's a nice subtle mod that makes the cabin an even nicer place to be (at night).

Got 2 sets sitting on my dining room table now, going to do the back courtesy lights too to see how it looks, hope to find time soon :icon_thumright:

cool - i didn't know if they would go in the back or not - post up some pics if poss once ur done

I don't know if they will or not either yet! Can't see why not though with a bit of work if needs be, will be a while till I get the chance to fit them, but I will update the thread :hi:
