GENUINE AUDI A4 A3 S3 red ambient lights S4 RS4 TDI

Dub, thats what they have said in the thread....you dont need to wire the A3's up, they have the feed already in the light ready for the unit to be attached... no running cables to the light switch etc

Ahh! Apologies, I was confused, the wire for the ambient light's +12V isn't present on Polos, Golfs, etc that use the same type pre-facelift smaller light, I thought the Audis were the same ;)

:beerchug: Yea!! A drink for that man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just fix my fuel leak and I would be happy!!!!

Credit should go to DubTurbo  for the part number and the power of the internet!

Cheers :D Credit where credit's due though, if that A3 8P hadn't been in the scrapyard I'd never have starting trying to pull bits off it

Bought one off the guy on Ebay he did me a better price after i mentioned the dealer price and that the installation guide was available on the net!!
I will hopefully do it on Saturday as long as I get the parts!!. Worth getting it delivered as Audi is a 20 mile round trip!!

looking at mine yesterday (98 a3) cant see at all how these fit doesnt look anything like the pics in the .pdf document, do i need to upgrade the curtosy light unit?

I got a lift in an A3 *p with these the other day and it was all a bit weird (early hours of morning). Drivers had was all red!! Was not sure if I liked it or not, but just ordered a kit form dealer to see. If I dont like em I will tape them up, but use if as a major selling point when moving the car on!! LOL!!

Cheers also to Dubturbo and JestersS3 for their info on this, a nice cheap money savign tip!!

You guys are heroes, you should both wear AS.NET capes for the rest of the day! ! LOL

Yes, I think you need the later style courtesy interior lamp off the facelift models, (2001 on??) If theyt are like the W8 light mod on mk4 golfs, though, it may not be as expensive as you may think. The w8 light can be had for £35 odd.

I think that is the W8 passat light with sunroof??

I know on some golfs to fit the w8 light you need to run power up there, but it is pretty easy IIRC. Have a search on UK mKivs.net for W8 mod and see what it says.

well im not sure if its gonna fit

thats a pic of mine

lol...how obsessed (or bored) are we...brillant...

^^^ I did the W8 light on my Ibiza when i had it. Dead easy - just a wee bit of soldering and heat-shrinking. I took the feed from the instrument binacle dimmer and ran it up the headlining. The part from VAGparts was perfect (although i had the non-sunroof one) and it just popped right in. 20 min job.

I'll be round to Audi in the morning to get these LEDs though...even less of a job to fit!

Chris

collecting mine from Audi tomorrow, already drilled the holes ready to fit it, should be good, not bad for £10.43

I fitted mine last night it took about 15 minutes. I think its a bit of a pointless mod at this time of year though, you can't really see them during the day or up till 9pm. BUt it was easy and cheap to do.

How easy was the spade connectors...not too sure how they fit....(to be fair I have not really looked yet, but do I need to unconnect something then reconnect it), sorry electrics are far from my thing...

Hehe you're such a worrier Clach :) The spade connectors are a piece of ****. Just follow the instructions and you'll have it sorted in 2 mins. There's no need to unplug anything else. You clip the LED unit in, route the cables, and then the female spade connectors just push onto their male counterparts (ooo err!).

Job's a good'un

(((visions of Clach's car up in flames!!)))

I unclipped the whole light unit from the car and did it indoors. It is a single multiway plug that can only go back in one way round (just to re-assure you Clach)
It is very easy to do so there is no need to worry.

ordered for tomorrow £8.77+VAT Sheffield Audi.... might order some neons for my arches
