Is there anyone else out there that has taken delivery of their new S3 less than a month ago and is livid about the facelift?

First post so please be gentle

... i got mine end of feb and wouldn't of minded knowing it was on the way at the time.... but hey ho, i needed a car so thats that!

i'm thinking about my next car already anyway so not overly fussed!.... :salute:

Got mine a week ago today and I'm still happy. There aren't that many changes and to be honest I prefer the look of this one.

I look at it as I did with the last Civic Type-R, they released a newer one with changes to the lights, bumper and wingmirrors (hmm sounds familiar) but the previous one wasn't looked at as being a lesser model really.

I'm picking up my new S3 tomorrow. It's disappointing that a facelift has been introduced, i must be honest. However, i think the new S3 has a lot of boy ricer to it. It's too aggressive and shouty - i probably would have passed on it on this account. That being said, it does make the pre-facelift S3 look a bit dated... such is life.

Picking up mine tomorrow as well. When I ordered it I'd heard rumours of the facelft, but it didn't want to wait any longer than I had to! To be honest I quite like the led DRL's but other than that the facelift makes it look like a Vauxhall Astra in my opinion.

Unfortunatley facelift and Audi go hand in hand, this will now be there 3rd facelift on the current A3 model.

i too would be livid if i had just collected my new car and found that it was the older one.

But welcome to the forum, and we will try and keep you one step ahead.

Does seem a bit ridiculous how many times its been facelifted. But at least I dont have those headlights... which at the moment I'm not a fan of

I would not order a car knowing it would be facelifted/replaced when i collected it...

Again, I am not going to trade my S3 just because a 08 facelift arrived... I don't follow trends and I like my car as I bought it..

Seeing as i havent even been given a build date yet its almost a certainty i will get the facelift. Im not sure if i like it as much or not tbh. I wont be disappointed with it obviously but i do like the current version. Its a double edged sword, some may be unhappy they have missed out and some may be glad.

Well my new S3 will be a pre-facelift one, but I'm quite glad to be honest, as I'm not convinced with the new style :noway: . Personally, I'm not keen on these new Audi lights, which look a bit gaudy to my mind ;) .

worst of all is that hollow part on the three sides of the front grille. I do not like the chrome around the fog lights too. I love the magnetic ride suspension option.

i picked mine up Saturday (i'm new around here) and although the facelift annoys me slightly i'm with a few others on here in that i'm really not sure about the lights...they might grow on me as time wears on. I'm really pleased with the car though, so i won't be losing any sleep over it.

Im glad i have this one.

I dont like the new:

- Front valance
- Wheels
- Wing Mirrors

BUT i like:

-Front and rear lights
- Magnetic ride option

So I suppose i could butcher the lights in.. If it it was that bothersome, but its not ;)

What is annoying is that certain people didnt make me aware of what was in the pipeline, that the choice was taken away. :ermm:

Found this vid on Utube which shows some more images of the forthcoming S3SB. Also some BMW porn in there for Bowfer too ;)

I've got to admit, I'm holding out on my order till the new LED lights are out. They do look the same size, couldn't you just buy them and fit them aftermarket?

Thanks everyone,

The M6 was closed again today so had a very entertaining drive on the A roads through the Ribble Valley and it certainley didn't feel like an outdated model!

Great Forum, thanks for the warm welcome

My S3 is being built this week. Pre-facelift. Like others, yes I'm slightly miffed that I wasn't informed about a facelift coming. But I'm also not sure about those new front lights.

I think I'll still be grinning from ear to ear when I pick it up in a few weeks....

Sort of like the lights , i don't like the wheels at all.

I would of liked them to keep the same style wheels just upped them to 19's.

I'm starting to really think 18's look too small for the car/arches.

I would have been well p*ssed off!

You should really be told by a dealer that a facelift is on its way then make you choice which one you want..

Up until 25 April 2008 when the product update was released to Audi dealers they had no more information about what was included in the facelift and the dates involved than anyone else.

There was probably more information available on this forum.

Presumably an informed dealership would have access to this forum too? But then, I don't think that any dealership is proactive in their treatment of customers... They just look at selling you a car and are not bothered about your best interests. Short sighted of them.

My local dealer didn't know about the facelift last weekend! Luckily we got dad's S3 changed over to the facelift model, thanks to Auto Express car mag raising awareness. The dealer told us that it would be out next year at the earliest, lying sods. But grateful that the order has been changed over.

If I had ordered a pre-facelift model I would not be bothered. I really don't like the wheels and I am unsure about the head lights. I think the pre-facelift is much nicer, Audi S models have always been about subtlty, the new one looks a little bit Max Power!
From the pics I have seen it looks like the new one is still on 18s, I would have thought 19s would be the standard fit by now. IMO all A3s look better on 19s.

New one is on 18's. Got the spec sheet from the dealer today and the leather seats are standard, as well as the flat bottom steering wheel and the armrest as well I think.

You have to seperate a 'fan' of a product from someone who just treats it as a job.
I often know more about a car/motorbike/TV/guitar I'm buying than the sales person.
They simply don't care enough to go 'rooting around' for info.
They're just happy to let it filter through in time.
In this respect, your local car salesman is no better than the clueless, spotty gimp in Dixons.
They just have a nicer suit.:)

I agree. Like you I often go into a shop and know far more about the product that the guy who's selling them. I tend to do quite a lot of research on the internet before hand. When you do find someone who is a 'fan' as well as a salesman and really knows his product, it makes a nice change.

Yes for sure. Audi are the worst for this. Their customer service is normally very good, they're friendly and polite but they haven't got a clue sometimes! I have to same problem with electronics shops. Especially The Sony Centre (I'm a Sony freak btw), more often than not I know a lot more about their products through experience or research. I have even been in an arguement with a bloke about the specs sheet for a stereo! Sometimes though you'll get a right geek in there though and it's great!

Not sure I'd agree with you on that one. I've been into other makers dealers and some have been quite good and some have been hopeless. I must admit I've only ever dealt with the same sales guy for Audi for the past 10 years and he really knows his Audis, but most of the other guys I have spoken to at the same dealer's seem to know their cars.

 or the bumfluff sporting gimp in land rover who sold me the wrong turbo hose for the wifes' motor this morning

anyway, have to agree with h5djr - having had to deal with alfa romeo, bmw, land rover, mercedes etc over the course of the last few years audi come out pretty high up on actually giving a sh1t! been impressed with them so far, like all main dealers they sting you for some serious wedge and often don't have the flexibility they would like but they are salesmen with targets after all

Generalising about the sales knowledge of different makes is hard, although not unfair.
For example, I wouldn't expect a budget car salesman to enthuse over his product.
I'd expect a reasonable amount of knowledge, but I wouldn't really expect them to be hyper-fanatical.
I would expect a Porsche salesman to be an enthusiast though.
I've dealt with Ford/VW/Renault/Honda/BMW/Saab/Peugeot over the years.
They're all the same, really.
None have struck me as any more knowledgable than the other.
Some just treat you nicer than others.

Aha I didn't mean they are the worst compared to anyone else. I have no real experience with any other dealer.

you could possibly fit them headlights to your current A3 - just imagine how many people will do this. havent really seen many photos anyone wanna post ?

That would be down to the individual though, not the product he's pushing :)

You may find even some people with the new Facelift model may need to do that. As things stand at the moment they will be the only Xenon headlights lights available and they will only be available as an option on the S-Line and standard on the S3 and S3 Sportback

You can know longer order from factory pre facelift of S3 deliveries September & you will get a discount of around 5% thats fairly standard

Years ago I looked at getting a leon cupra or Cupra R. When I was talking to the sales guy he was telling me the difference between the 2 different models. Apparently the Cupra R had twin turbo's...
