FACELIFT MODEL GENUINE DATES SEE HERE

I'm going to see our fleet manager tomorrow so am gonna find out the SP on mine.....

With the changes to the SE I hope mine isn't a facelift unless they honour the 08 spec on it as it was ordered as an 08.

I have been told a delivery date of wk23 and it was only ordered on the 4th April.

If the delivery date is quoted as week 23 then you should be OK and get a 2008 model because production of the Sportback does not end until week 25 and for delivery to be week 23 your particular car would need to be produced in week 20 or 21.

I wonder why there is a difference in end dates between the 3-door and the Sportback. May be because some Sportsback's are being produced at the plant in Brussels rather than at Ingolstadt.

mcc49 what the hell have you ordered to take this amount of time???

With all the waiting I've done it felt like an A3 made from chicken teeth and unicorn fur ;)

But the spec was A3 1.4TFSI manual, phantom black, half leather, black styling package, front center armrest, sunband and B pillar tints. Nothing too out of the ordinary I thought

I wonder if anyone who ordered after you, i.e. me,will get same delays and potentially facelift. Doesn't make sense you ordered in feb and i ordered in march and currently mine due before yours!

[FONT='Times New Roman','serif']Standard S3 specification (Additional equipment over the previous model)
New 18" S design alloy wheels
Xenon plus headlamps with LED daytime running lights
Front center armrest
Multi-function S design steering wheel

[FONT='Times New Roman','serif']looks like the price has gone up by about £200 but now get the armrest & Multi-function steering wheel as standard

I ordered my S3 on the 30th of Jan and I have not get a build date. With regard to your car, I heard that VAG were having trouble sourcing parts for the 1.4 engine due to demand and had temporarily stopped offering it as an option. This was about six weeks ago.

Thanks for the bad news. If I get a facelift car, that means that I also get the obstructive centre armrest that I did not specify on my original order.

Yea I heard that also but every time I asked the dealer for the least 5 weeks whether it was a part shortage, he gave me a firm no.

As for the armrest, why dont you just have it upright all the time if you find it obstructive as it doesnt really do anything nor does it get in the way much bolted upright

Also I noticed that the A3 page on audi.co.uk are showing the facelift models but the configurator still has the old model up. I am really interested in the new options the car has as the dealer today had nothing to work with except the A3 cabriolet brochure.

Not too many surprises then - things like the S line only having the LED lights and the arm rest being standard on the S line are consistent with the A3 cab.

S Line has the option to have LED Lights at the cost of £550 (part of xenon plus) which I find is a bit misleading as every picture of the new A3 you see has the LED DRL. Lots of potential disappointed/angry customers if you ask me

I order my A3 TDI 170 S-Line on the 14/03/08 - I have just spoken to the dealer (after I read this forum) and because the order is still at the "to be scheduled" stage - it is likely to be the new shape. Also because they are not starting the build of the 170TDI until week 36 (first week in Sept) - it is likely to be delayed until after that. My dealer is due to come back to me today to let me definately the score!
He also mentioned that the S-Line will only have half leather - which means that I will probably have to go back in and review all of the options I have specced to make sure they are still right as against the new specifications!

I am considering cancelling if i have to have facelift and they mess me about over wheels and options. toys out of pram time

just called my dealer.
They say my car is scheduled for build week 22, however it is not confirmed, so they are not sure if it will be changed, to then be a new one.

They are going to call me back in a few days once they know more. Its crazy isnt it. Audi shouldnt really take orders if they are unable to complete them.

Either way lets hope they sort it out.
Worst thing is my current car goes tomorrow, and I am going to just use a cheap hire car or similar as end of June is not really that far away.

Doh

Understand that the Cabriolet is taking priority. Hope so as I have an Sline on order for the last two months.

Our fleet woman has gone on holiday for a week so can't get any info at all! Bet your delivery gets put back! I am in a pool car at the moment as I sold my Audi cab so got a 1.9tdi Jetta! Not happy

Is there any information on the dealer sheet which mentions the MPG and CO2 emissions of the new 140 and 170bhp diesels in the A3?

the 2.0TDI 140 on the A3 Cabriolet spec sheet produces 139g/km CO2 and returns 41.5/64.2/53.3mpg urban/ex.urban/combined. It would be the same new CR TDI engine used on the A3 hatches.

As for the 170 version, I believe its the same version used on the new TT's? Might be worth looking at the spec sheet for the TT on audi.co.uk for a rough estimate

Just spoke to the fleet woman who is dealing with mine and she has told me that mine will deffo not be the facelift model as it is getting built this week and we be delivered end of May, so in a way quite releaved as the only two things I liked about the facelift were the DRL's which I wouldn't of got as its not an S-Line and the rear lights, which is a mod I can do in a few months time! Only taken Audi 4 months to get me my car lol!

So anyone who ordered around the 30th of Jan should hopefully get theres before the facelift esp if its a sportback!

Mark

so if end jan = end may delivery
mid march = mid july delivery (mine) got to be facelift?!

I can understand them getting rid of the 3.2. Why would anyone choose it over the S3 if the prices remain similar? Especially with the new road tax costs.

I had a 2.0TFSI Quattro manual and I have seen plenty of others on this forum. I wonder why they're stopping it!

I think their research would show if the option of a 2.0T Manual Quattro was not available customers would choose the S3 resulting in higher sales, more revenue through servicing, easier for Audi as they don't have to build an extra model, etc

This then leaves the auto drivers with a very good option of 2.0T auto with quattro, which will no doubt sell well!

Some of these changes are nice. Looks like Audi is updating the website now to reflect the changes? At least the configurator is down.

Just had confirmation that my S3 is confirmed for build in Week 22...

So, according to the dealer that means I'm getting a pre-facelift model, 1 week before the facelift.

To say that I am gutted is an understatement.. As I am ploughing my own money into the car, I have concerns about the effect on residuals, etc.

Any thoughts on how it may be possible to change this build date short of cancelling the order?

I would be push for a discount Spathead or try delay the order. You wasnt informed about the facelift when you ordered the car and the car still hasnt been built yet so why settle for the old shape if you like the new one. The residual value of your car would of gone down by £500-£1000 just because its the old shape S3 even before you even bought the car which is ridiculous.

Hi Guys,

I've got an A3 1.6 Sportback being delivered w/c 16th June. Do you think this will be a facelift? If not do you think the dealer will push the build date back a weeks so it is?

Cheers

Another thing I've just spotted...

It seems like Xenon Plus headlights (with LED DRLs) will only be an option on the S-Line models. This is the case with the new A3 cabriolet. Both the Xenob Plus and the Adaptive Headlights are only available on the S-Line.

Personally I can take or leave the LED DRLs.

However whats more frustrating for me is that from what you say, and the A3 Cab brochure, then it would appear that Xenon lights are only available on the S Line and the S3. Not even an expensive option for the sport - which it was on my 55 plate A3 sport.

I'm changing lease car this Autumn and with the present A3 have had 55k miles of driving without a problem (touch wood) so keen to continue with them. An A3 for me without Xenons is not an option but I'm really not bothered about getting a S Line - much prefer a Sport. One to mull over!

There was a paragraph in the launch pack about the new engine has been tuned to give better economy so I went on to audi.de to check the figures as they have the latest info on the A3.

Based on the 1.4TFSI I ordered

Old 1.4TFSI - 154g/km CO2 emission, 32.8/53.3/43.5 mpg urban/ex.urban/combined

New 1.4TFSI - 140g/km CO2 emission, 36.2/57.7/47.9 mpg urban/ex.urban/combined

This is based on the german price spec and 6 speed manual box, the 7speed DSG has even better figures.

This should put the 1.4TFSI into a VED band C from a band D along with a healthy boost in mpg, which is nice!

Can get the figures for the other engines if you lot need

1.8TFSI

Old - 171g/km CO2, 28/48.7/39.2 mpg
New - 159g/km CO2, 31/53.3/42.2 mpg

2.0TFSI

Old - 186g/km CO2, 25.9/47.1/36.2 mpg
New - 171g/km CO2, 28.5/50.4/39.2 mpg

2.0TDI 140

Old - 143g/km CO2, 40.4/62.8/52.3 mpg
New (CR) - 134g/km CO2, 42.2/67.3/55.4 mpg

2.0TDI 170 (Quattro Only)

Old - 173g/km CO2, 33.2/55.4/44.1 mpg
New (CR) - 148g/km CO2, 39.2/60.1/50.4 mpg

All engine based on 6 speed manual

Info based on current A3 spec sheet and new A3 spec list on audi.de
(http://www.audi.de/etc/medialib/cms4imp/audi2/product/a3.Par.0002.File.pdf)

Nice figures in general, nice to see Audi taking a step towards more efficient engines.

If my maths is correct, it is also worth noting that the S3 fuel consumption has improved to 23.9/42.8/33.2mpg from 22.8/39.2/31.0 and emissions have dropped from 217g/km to 199.

Isn't that another Tax band lower?

Another reason to want the facelift....

I've got to have one - somehow!

Thats a deffo P*s*er I got told i couldn't have the A3 Sportback 1.8TFSI Sport as it was 171 CO2 and the company limit is 170 CO2 that and the car was £300 over my limit of 20k but by the sounds of things the Sport is going to be cheaper than the current one and now the Co2 is 159, wish I hadn't read that now! LOL

Your maths is indeed correct but it will still fall between the current 186-225g/km 'F' VED Band. Still the engine is more frugal and should save you some ££ over the years!

Edit: However for the planned VED bands next year it ll be in band J as opposed to band K saving you £125 per year.

2.0TDI 170 (Quattro Only)
Old - 173g/km CO2, 33.2/55.4/44.1 mpg
New (CR) - 148g/km CO2, 39.2/60.1/50.4 mpg

Does this mean that for the facelift that the 170TDI is only available in Quattro? I know that is the only engine information on the German document but wondered if the UK information specified this or not.

Cheers:thumbsup:

Taken from the A3 Launch info-

Please note that the 2.0 TDI 170PS (front wheel drive and quattro variants) starts production in week 36/08, for both A3 and A3 Sportback.

That seems to suggest the 2.0 TDI 170PS will be available in non Quattro also

S3 fuel consumption has improved ... and emissions have dropped from 217g/km to 199.

Are you sure they have made any change to the S3 engine for the upcoming facelift version? I did not see that anywhere (only new engines were TDI), so why the fuel consumption would get better?

Any idea if the performance figures have taken a hit, as a result of the better economy ?

"The 1.8T FSI and the closely related 2.0T FSI have been frictionally optimised and have new cylinder bores, pistons and oil pumps to increase efficiency."

Energy is lost through heat (friction) and sound in an engine, if the energy loss is reduced through optimisation then the engine will require less fuel to produce the same amount of energy.

Just spoke to the dealers, they have now confirmed my TDI 170 S Line is booked for week 22, so unless something majot happens I should be getting the current model delivered mid to end of June. So unless anything goes wrong, I am chuffed.

Hope others get any issues sorted.

Isn't Wk22 when production begins on the facelift???

Anyone know if the flat bottom multi-function steering will be standard on the 3DR S3 looks like it is on the sportback?????

According to the product update both the S3 and S3 Sportback will have the 'Multi-function S design steering wheel' which according to the picture is a flat-bottomed wheel. They will also both have New 18" S design alloy wheels, Xenon Plus headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a Front centre armrest as part of the standard spec.

Also Matt brushed aluminium inlays will be standard with Piano finish and Fine grain birch wood as no cost options.
