Hi.

Hope this isn't a silly question.

Is it possible to fit a double din with sat nav and upgrade to air con in my a4?

I have seen the sat nav, full air con system and the controls for sale on ebay.

Cheers.

Has your car got aircon currently?

I also have a facelift double din console, and RNS-E. If your car has aircon, you'll need to facelift the lot to get the RNS-D in there.

Hi Siena

Thanks for the reply.

It doesn't have air con.

Retrofitting aircon/climate is probably the biggest job in the world. It's not impossible but is a massive task. Far easier to sell the car and buy the one you should have bought in the first place.

Not an easy job.

If you're not confident about doing the install yourself, PM me.

Thanks for the info guys.

Does anyone know of a guide so i can get an idea of the work involved.

Cheers.

I've never seen a guide to installing RNS-D and Climate Control.

Thanks again siena.

Is it possible to install the double din without upgrading to air con?

Thanks again siena.

Is it possible to install the double din without upgrading to air con?

ALL double-DIN cars had climate control as standard, so...?

I was recently quoted over £400 to just fix a leak in my aircon compressor after a garage managed to **** it up during an engine pull.

As Siena says, you're probably better off selling yours and buying one with aircon!

quite fancy fitting facelift centre console in my wifes avant, and she said she preferes mine so thats as good as giving me permission, are the climate controls a straight swap

I also think its a dash out job to swap the heater matrix part in and then lots of wiring.

I double din'd mine, but i had aricon already so it was reasonably easy to do. The facelift aircon unit plugs straight in, just needs the addition of an illumination wire, Its the switches that give more problems as they require a silly little relay thing, to turn a momentary switch to a latch

climate control is not just a "control" swap with the centre console.
cars with two zone climate control have a different set of air ducts that are effectively two systems (so you can be in 30 deg heat while your passenger is in 18deg).
not only a dash out job to fit those you will have to find them first.

fitting the compressor and the aircon radiator will be another headache as the space is pretty tight in there.

proper ball ache

open the windows and get some Sure roll on
