Cruising (Sea)

Did my first Sea Cruise last week on-board Oceana. We went to Vigo, Lisborn, La Rochelle (kind of) and Brest.

Had a great week and found it very relaxing, ate miles too much food (5 course each Evening) but made sure we did loads of walking and only used the lifts a couple of times (the Mrs was in High Heels and the ship was moving about a bit). The DJ got a couple of airings too (2 formal nights) took a lounge suite for the Informal nights.

Did a Force 9 on our crossings of the Bay (First and Last Night) and didn't suffer at all , only a bit of lost sleep due to the jarring walking me up.

Damn French Dockers ruined the stop at La Rochelle as they had a strike and blockaded the dock gates so all we saw was the docks (La Pallice).

The food and service was excelant and I'd recommend it to anyone for a nice relaxing time.

Enjoyed it so much we have just booked the Fjords for next June on Ventura.

Anyone else tried Cruising yet ? (no funny comments please).

I thought you might answer . So was that the trip last weekend with Murray Walker on-board ? My Father-In-Law was on that trip too. Did you try the Digital Scalextric circuit that they have onboard ?

Car was fine with CPS (thanks for getting Claire to check on that) a little dusty and a bit of Seagull mess, but that all came off fine with a quick jetwash when I got home. The sticker that you have to put on the windscreen is a bit messy when you remove it though.

Cheek I'm not that old and MB is younger than me by a good few years. It is the way forward, a nice mobile hotel with all of the facilities and no waiting in airports etc (well if you cruise UK to UK like we did). Wake up in a different port/country. We got some beautiful sunrise pictures in Lisborn. Other bonus is that it only takes us 20 minutes to get to the Docks at Southampton.

Don't knock it till you've tried it - LOL.

We got a place on the shakedown cruise which was just a couple of nights. Nice ship, although you can tell it was a princess design that they re-used for the uk. Food was great, facilities are tip top.

I left my car parked down there as well and it was fine when I got back, apart fromt eh dust

That's the one my Father-In-Law was on it too.

Funnily Jade boarded Oceana last Friday (when we returned) for a Weekend cruise to Zeebrugge - which she enjoyed, and she is only 19.

Doh, I was too young for when it was an "old persons" thing, and now that it's a young persons thing, I'm too old!

I'm only jealous, my wife has a boat phobia, so it rules us out.

I only started going on them as I used to work for P&O a few years ago so got a decent staff discount.

I used to think cruising was for the oap's until i did a 7 day cruise around the Carribian it was lush, free food when ever you wanted it and a different island every day. Last year me and the missus and some family friends went on the QE2 for the old mans 60th, that was a nice ship not at all snobbery like i thought it would be.
