Well, my first post in this group after selling my beautiful B5 S4 and purchasing a stunning 8P 140 sportback. Spec as follows
Phantom black with black styling package
Bose
GSM
Armrest
Cruise control
Ambient lighting
DSG
S-line

Love it to bits, the obvious changes being,
4wd to 2wd
Petrol to diesel
Manual to auto.
With knackering my back up, the auto is an important thing with the miles i do.

Couple of ?'s though, hence the post!
1) Which aftermarket satnav to go for, installed in the dash? I think RNS-E is way too expensive, and having no touch screen is a ball ache!
2) Do i lose the phone capability if I rid the standard Symphony HU? I really like this feature, and do not wanna lose it!

Cheers in advance, matt

If you want Sat Nav cheap then look towards the portable devices otherwise look at the Pioneer and Kenwood units, if money is no object look towards Alpine

Cheers mucka, I already have a Tomtom, but would like a built in unit.
Im not really fussed what it costs, compared to filling the S4 up every few days its a drop in the ocean lol!

Alpine currently have 1 Double din unit the W202 and you can add Nav to it, either the Blackbird Unit or the Nav DVD. Also due out soon is the W505, its going to be more expensive but looks great,

Pioneer are bringing out a new unit too,

That's nice!!

I'm waiting until someone makes a double din with touch screen, nav, built in HDD at least 100GB, all the compatibilities and you can store divx/mp4 films on the hard drive also. I have about 400 films in mp4 for my psp!

Nice motor, I like the optics grill, I noticed on your plates it came from macclesfield Audi, what did you think to them?, I was thinking of using them for servicing because where I am gilders in sheffield haven't a good reputation, I heard a couple of good reports about macclesfield before, My sportback was supplied by them but I never met them cos it was via a lease company.

I noticed that the new MFD3\RNS510 unit in the Golf is touch screen with a 100GB HDD and built in DVD player. With any luck Audi will raid the VW parts bin for the all new A3 in 2010\11 and fit touch screen navigation to it.

Cheers bro, theyre not too bad, I know one of the tech's, which is handy! Give us a shout of you wanna come over, I live 10 mins away!

anyone know how easy it is to take the "chrome" grille out and spray it black? Mine's flaking all over the place and much prefer the look of the black one here!

Very nice Matt (not that I'm biased or anything...)

Bacardi - I think SteveTDCi was looking to do the same....

Only difference will be that you'll have a black surround with the grey grill - personally I'd go for the all black look.

Ive yet to try Gilders servicing, but do you know they are moving up to Norton and increasing staff as well as moving in with VW? I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt first before driving all the way to another dealers.

Yeah know they are moving, i pass it everyday, I've never seen a building go up so fast! although don't think it'll be ready in time, my service is due in 1800 miles, still got a bit of time to decide where to go yet though.
