Well held indeed, I dont have sound either but was that rigged? Seems a bit odd that somebody just happened to be recording it in the background.
Nothing but pure luck that he held onto that and there was no-one in the immediate vicinity to get caught up in his moment! Shame the baldy tw*t didn't mess up his car a little, even if it is one of our own, for blatantly barrelling past an lit electronic warning sign anyway!
What's the betting that sign doesn't say "Check your fuel", "Tiredness can kill" or "Don't drink and drive"? Hopefully the local authorities will be able to use the footage to track him down and charge him with dangerous driving or their equivilent.

I've had an ****-twitching episode like that myself about 5 years ago. Came around a corner at about 60 mph (70 limit) and i can only assume there was diesel on the road and the car just totally went. Thank god there were no other cars on the road because it must have taken me 100-150 metres to correct, snaking all over the wrong side of the road. Fun times. Although seeing as it was a 206 GTI you could argue i should have just aimed it for the ditch...

If there was some kind of slippery contamination, I would have thought they'd have done more than put up an electronic billboard warning.
Surely they'd have closed the affected lane down?
LOL, maybe... I am feeling a bit grouchy!
Perhaps their equivilent of our Highways Agency hadn't got there yet after a splillage(?) leak had been phoned through to them by another concerned driver, maybe thats why there is only the electronic sign that appears to be warning drivers? I still think its more luck than skill that prevents anything worse from happening but at least he appears to know how to react to it so wouldn't have made it worse.
I'm not so sure skill wasn't involved.
You watch the last left hand slide he gets, where he puts the car onto absolute full left lock.
The front of the car appears to slide towards the left (around 58 seconds), suggesting he actually puts his foot down on the throttle, pulling the front of the car round.
I've seen this technique used in FWD cars before, by rally drivers etc.
Takes conscious action to do it, as it's far from an automatic reaction.
You watch the last left hand slide he gets, where he puts the car onto absolute full left lock.

Something slightly different below has happened to me on 3 separate occasions in 3 different cars. All of which out of interest were Mercs. Can remember the most impressive one was in Leeds where I was snaking like Audi guy above as if it was yesterday. Luckily never hit anything but you'd think I'd have learnt my lesson after the first time lol

Took me a couple of seconds to get it. Doh! He was lucky , but there was some skill/know how in there as well, most Joe's on the road would of just slammed the anchor's on and he didn't.

It looks like a set up! How many of you drive around with a video camera running in the back of your car. Like Bowfer said about his skill involved.

That is still a great save though. About six years ago when coming home at night in my Puma, I hit oil or diesel on a roundabout and the car went into a perfect four-wheel drift. I was totally powerless - luckily it was a wide roundabout and I wasn't going too quickly.

He is my Friend.
I know all the details. The warning matrix doesn´t show anything about oil on the road,only advices about reducing speed because there were works on the pavement 5 kms ahead.
He is a good driver,but he was definitely lucky.

The highway is in the North of Portugal (A3 Oporto-Braga near Cruz)
The pavement was dry,the car has good tyres and was stable during that high speed incourse on the highway until that moment.
There is a confirmation of a previous accident on that local just a few hours before,so the oil can be originary from that.
My friend keeps repeating that he was lucky and one of his cat´s life(7) is gone. LOL
I will always remember this video before I trust in highways as safe roads,where conditions are controlled...
He was heading to a Track Day,and he switched on the camera when he was leaving home

Despite the above I would put money on an underinflated left rear tyre, he wasn't braking or accelerating it just snapped away from him, if it was diesel he would have felt it through the steering wheel at the same time, however, good reflexes and calm reactions plus a bit of luck, hats off the the guy, most of us would have stuffed it into the barrier I feel !

same happened to me in the wet i wasn,t so lucky straight through a fence £13500 claim later the car was back on the road
