Lowering an A3 Sport

Has anybody lowered an A3 Sport (2.0TDI, 3-door) using either the Eibach Sportline or Pro Kit using standard dampers?

I'm looking to fit some 18" ET43 RS6's with 235/40 tyres.

I can't see the point of using the Pro Kit as it will only lower the car 15mm, whereas the Sportline Kit should give approx 30-35mm front and 20-25mm rear.

A few threads indicate that these might have some rubbing issues, but I'll be on 18's, so I can't see it being an issue.

Any experiences or photos welcome.
 
I lowered my 04 sport with the Eibach Pro-kit and I'm very happy with the results.

Its not a dramatic drop, lowers it to about 5mm below the S-Line suspension I think, but for me that was just the right amount for 18"s to look right on the car.

I put 18" R32 replicas on (ET45) and they're nowhere near rubbing - whether that would still be the case with and extra 15-20mm drop I'm not sure.
 
i have just put a koni fsd kit on my a3 and it handles soo much better and i think it has dropped it about 35mm possibly more now it has settle a bit
i have just got some 18" R8 alloys and it sits just right
and i can still get over speed bumps lol

Currently looking at lowering my A3 Sport

Was looking at springs only

Was thinking Eibach pro which will give me 15mm lower than current Sport, right?
Wheres the cheapest place to buy, I will be fitting myself.

Another option is H&R, what drop would this achieve

Is there much difference in the two makes
 
Coilovers are the way forward! I have FK Highsports in my car lowered roughly 45mm

click the link in my signature and there are 3 A3's on coilovers (mine and mates)

The blue and grey ones have FK's and the red one has KW v2 or v3's

Eibach I find do not lower the cars enough but are an excellent spring - had them in my clio and loved them!
 
hi m8 i lowered my 20ltr tdi sport with eibach springs only they were 30 mm drop which made it lower by 15mm as the sport is already lower than standard a3s didnt know at the time but im happy with it and yes im using stock shocks ride ok for me

:haha: Nath - I wondered how long before you were replying about coilovers. I dont want to spend hundreds of $ on the lowering, I know coilovers is probably the best route but I will be happy with just springs.
 
Hi, I had the pro-kit on my A3 tdi sport and there isn't really much of a drop (if any) with these springs. I didnt like the ride much at all either so I changed to H&R's -50mm. Bigger drop and feels way better with these. You'll probably need to take the liners out from the arches though if you don't want rubbing with passengers in the back. I rarely have passengers though so I'm happy the way it is. :sm4:

Looking well there. Is yours Akoya Silver, where in the UK are you from.

What years yours?
 
Might be worth looking at the KW lowering springs.

These lower by 40mm (25mm on a Sport), so maybe not the need to radically change the car by removing wheel arch liners etc.

The thread is really about a simple way to make the car look right on 18" wheels without the expense of coilovers etc.

Everybody knows this is the best solution but it's not right for all. I want a simple, low cost solution that I can easily change back to standard when I sell the car. Lowering springs offer what many people want.
 
Matt I live in Ireland and yeah same colour as yours. Year is 03.

It seems its not that "radical" to just remove the liners. I think if you want it to look right as you say then I would look at either the Eibach sportlines or the H&R's. Damien in DPM recommened the H&R' s to me and thats what I went with and I must say I'm very pleased with them !
 
dsaint - what wheel size and offset are you running on your car? :thumbsup:
 
Ok I am either going to go for Eibach 30mm or H&R 35mm

After doing a bit of ringing around am getting mixed reviews on each, suppose it depends on whos selling.

Eibach - Sellers are suggesting are beter because they give a better ride.
H&R - Sellers are saying a a better spring

Can anyone give any suggestions
 
I used The Sportline Kit on mine. ( I think, I'll check the receipt later)

This is the last time I'm gonna say anything to guys about coilovers. Springs to me are a false economy. Yeh they are a cheap option, but...

a) The car will be sat at a certain height, what if your not happy with the height, i.e. its too low, or not low enough?

b) What if the ride is too harsh? You have no adjustability to change it.

hear hear N8KOW! im looking into FK Highsport kit had them on my old 206! looking into the FK Konigsport but not sure if the price is worth it for the extra Koni tops!:ohmy::ohmy:

Matt the Pro kit is spot on- the ride is so good I could not tell the difference between them and the SE springs!
Coilovers are the best option, but far more expensive!
 
Fitted the pro kit to my sport and really pleased. Now its settled got around 35mm off standard which for me is spot on, same as S3. I don't want my A3 to look like a boy racer with fat 19s rubbing the arches, going to fit S3 18s to finish it off soon.

Handling is noticably better with no real loss in ride comfort. Missus hasn't even noticed!!
 
i have got 19s RS6 on mine and i have dropped mine around 70mm all round below are a couple of pictures not best quality cause taken with pheon need new camera.
