VAGCOM - Seatbelt chime and unlokcing

Its an interesing noise, it just saves me having to look at the car when I lock it - If that makes sense
 
Do Audi generally charge to get these things altered on the car? For example if I were to ask them to remove the seatbelt chime would they hit me with a bill or would they do it as a courtesy? Unfamiliar with them as this is my first Audi. Does it just depend?
 
They won't switch off the seatbelt chime, they say it's illegal.
Mind you, an alarm beep is illegal in the UK, but they switched that on for me!
They switched off the drive-off autolock for nothing as part of a service.
 
I have just replied to your thread in the VAG-COM forum.

Suggesting that you post the VAG-COM scan details of the two modules. It is the coding of the Comfort System and Instrument Cluster that are relivant.

I was able to change the selective unlocking in my DIS, but I seem to be the only one able to do this so far :uhm:.

It's a long coding job otherwise, module 46 and then long coding helper - pretty certain it's byte 0 and just requires the 'Selective Unlocking' checkbox clearing and then use the 'Transfer Coding' option to push the new coding to the main Vagcom window.

Then save and that should do it.

Can't remember the seatbelt chime off the top of my head, but this should help.

Before you do anything though I'd do a full scan of you car and save it - least you can then put things back to their original settings if anything goes wrong.
 
I think you can change the Selective Unlocking using VAG-COM without using any long coding.

It's Module 46, Channel 003 (Selective Locking)
0 - Unlocking of all Doors
1 - Selective Unlocking


For the seat belt chime
it's again Module 46, Channel 011 (Lock Message - Key)
Return message when locking via key switch.
0 - No return message
1 - Beep
2 - Blink
3 - Beep & Blink

The channel options are 'info only'. You have to change the coding via the long coding option for it to stick. You can then check via the channel options to see if the long coding has changed.

Dave - I think the second bit you've posted is for the 'beep' options when you lock the car and not for the seat belt chime.
 
Yes I you're right about the seat belt chimes. My mistake.

With the change of coding using the channel options, I used this method the other day with Module 55, channel 10, to change my Bi-Xenon headlights for continental driving and it worked OK. I assumed the same would work with other modules. The site I gave for the codes only gives the channel number and 0 or 1 setting for the items I mentioned. Some of the other items it does give details of the long coding settings.

I shall have to try one or two and see what happens - having done a full scam first of course.
 
MattAndrew plugged his VAG.COM into my car and activated the alarm charm and autolock at 15mph. There were numerous other options available, all at the tick of a box. I'm sure Matt will be along soon and can shed even more light on this.

Sorry, should have clarified my post Dave. You can't change the channel options for this particular module, but you're right it does work for other modules.

they've quoted me £60 a time to change the (rather sh7te) selective unlocking and the dashboard light sensor, If I'd thought about it 3 years ago I'd have bought VAG comm like Dave and done it all myself, if you are thinking of keeping your car for some time its probably a very good idea
 
yeh charged me (ok, my company) £60, so that i did not have to press the button 15 million times to try and unlock the boot, or passenger door (so all doors unlock on one press), maybe its different if its not corporate?
 
possibly, may explain the shoddy service I've received, even people on this forum think us company car drivers are of a lower class
 
When I wanted a few settings changed they were going to charge me between 30 and 60 euros a time (depending on what needed to be changed). This was only a few weeks after I bought the car. Unbelievable bad service! I bit the bullet an bought myself VAG-COM. I am so glad I did this. Not only can I change whatever setting I want whenever I want, it also helped enormously in getting a fault fixed. (See my other thread about a coolant warning). In short: I had a fault message in the DIS and the dealer was replacing all the wrong parts until I showed them my own VAG-COM printout of the fault. That showed exactly what was wrong. The mechanic that "fixed" the car the first time probably never even bothered to hook it up to their computer to check the fault log and just replaced whatever he though caused the fault. The guy at the reception desk really tried his best for me and when I showed him the VAG-COM printout, the head mechanic happened to be standing next to him. He looked at the printout, turned to the mechanic and said: You guy's can learn a thing or two from this gentleman! ... suffice to say the issue was properly fixed soon after that. If I had not had VAG-COM, who knows how many parts they would have replaced (and charge me for!) before the problem was really fixed.
 
Having already owned several A3s I was aware of the various options that could be coded in or out when I purchased my laterest Sportback. I asked the dealer to switch off selective unlocking, switch on auto-locking and change the instrument panel lighting to be always on before I took delivery of the car and they were happy to do this for no charge as part of the PDI.

Last year they also coded my Bi-Xenon headlights for European driving and did not charge and I'm quite sure I could have persuaded them to do it for nothing again this year, but I decided to purchase VAG-COM so that I could do it on the way rather than having to visit the dealer a week or so before the holiday. They did say the normal charge for recoding the lights would be £50.00 to code and another £50.00 to code back to UK. Perhaps eventually Audi will add the coding for this to the DIS menu.
 
That would be ideal if they did, I know there's customisation to the nth degree in Merc's, anyone know if Audi MMI lets you do the same?
 
My car is going in tomorrow. They have told me that they will VAG COM whatever I want but I have no idea what to ask for. Anything groovy that I should ask for? The only thing I can think of of the top of my head is to get the alarm beep working and the annoying seatbelt chime turned off. Anything else?
 
Why would you want the seatbelt chime turning off? Should never hear it if you are wearing you're seatbelt?
 
I'd like to have the bing removed from the passenger seat, if Iever put my laptop bag on it, it randomly pings for ages (I think there's a weight limit before the seatbelt chime begins)
 
Depends on your views but some others to consider may be auto-locking if it's not already programmed, instruments lights always on, hazard lights coming on automatically if you do an emergency stop. Selective locking is another that some like and some don't. That's all I can think off. Anyone else got any good ideas.
 
If you have DRLs change them from North American (front lights only) to Scandanavian (front and rear lights)
