idiot who can't park

Unfortunately I didnt get his details.

I hate people that:

-Cant Park
-Drive under the speed limit
-Drive in the middle lane of the motorway under 70
-Drive in the inside lane of the motorway, do 70, and when you catch them up, they dont move over to the middle lane, then give you dodgy looks when you under take them.
-Sunday drivers.
-People that dont know right of way.
-People that straddle both lanes at a traffic light so you cant get past them.
All very true. I'd like to quote Richard Porter, EVO magazine columnist, author and Top Gear script editor. He once wrote in a column that "any holder of a driving licence, who is not actively involved in the pursuit of driving excellence, should not hold a licence at all".

Absolutely spot on.

If you don't have children, then it's a total no-no in my opinion, much like using a disabled space even though most people probably think this is less important.

ridiculous, it's nothing like a disabled space at all

have you or your wife become disabled since having a child?

I'd agree with that to a point. It's exactly what I used to say before my wife and I had a baby. However, I now know how difficult it can be trying to get an infant carrier into a car. It's a nightmare. You have to try to hold the door so it doesn't touch the car parked next to you, whilst manoeuvering the infant carrier and not wanting to scratch either car (not to mention not dropping the baby - that's bad apparently ).

Personally, I'd be quite happy to have the parent and child spaces further away from the stores. That would prevent people from using them that don't need to park there or who are just to lazy to walk a few extra meters.

I regularly 'accost' people I see illegally parking in child bays.
It was a single young bloke in a new TT just last week, when I was on holiday.
Depending on my mood, it can be a simple ****-take like "you've forgotten your kids, mate" to a full blown rant.
Responses vary from completely ignoring me, to the inevitable "feck off".
The missus thinks my intervention is futile, but I refuse to let that stop me.
Turning the other cheek is what the scummy gits expect, which is why they do it in the first place!!:gun2:

With regard to inconsiderate parking in normal bays, I left a note on a Volvo last week.
I also bent both it's door mirrors forward (not back, forward).
No damage is done this way, but many drivers are unaware their mirrors can do this and will panic.
It also inconveniences the twats.

The idea of parent child bays is to actually prevent cars from being damaged. We're in the process of buying baby seats for our 1st baby, and I now only appreciate the idea. It is impossible to get a baby seat into the rear doors of my car without the door being fully open. It is impossible to open the rear door fully in normal sized parking bays when the bay next door is occupied by another car. So, the choice is, park in a normal bay, and open my rear door banging it into the car next door(which is your car hopefully!), and then wrestle the car seat out, repeatedly banging my door into your car, and then banging the baby seat into your door, or, let me park in the parent child bay and everybody is happy.

I'd be much happier if a parent/child didn't park next to my car, children have no spatial awareness, and often open their doors into other cars, so let them have their own bays, and keep them away from my car.

HEHE, I cant quite beleive you spit on peoples cars!! If someone pushes in front of you in a queue do you spit on thier back too ???

**** like this happens, just learn to laugh it off, or better still, say somthing!

To the people who park over 2 spots, thats just plain selfish, ignorant AND arrogant.

Like Steve184 said, wait for an edge space if your so worried. The above just makes you no better than the people you seem to loathe.

And before you say it, I have had countless parking dents, and other needless things done to my car, Hazard of ownership IMO.

This is one funny thread!! Keep it going!!

Think I might just be unlucky but I find that it dosnt matter where I park-it can be right over the far side of tesco car park, nothing around and in an empty section, & I come out from the store with a people carrier or `family` car with kiddy seats in them beside mine, can be when the parent bays are not all full even, now I go in the other halfs car & dump it where ever. I dont believe your average parent gives a **** about other peoples cars weather in the correct space or not-some people just have no respect! If I had to use my car then I might be tempted to use a parent space, but I wouldnt take the last space if you know what I mean-I`m not that selfish...just a little.

I should have taken a picture, but yesterday I was due to go for a flying lesson, with a bit of time spare I stopped at Monks cross shopping centre to grab a sandwich from asda,

As it was around 10:20 on sunday morning the place was nigh on empty, however upon my return I nearly dropped my food when i saw the landcruiser parked about 4" off my door!! Had to climb in the other side haha!!

I really wish i'd taken a picture (i would have if i'd read this thread prior). It was soo ridiculous to see an empty car park with this guys grubby 4x4 nearly on top of my gleaming white S3!!

I cant figure out the mentality, I suppose his only saving grace is he was perfectly within his space.... I.e 3" over on each side ;)

I'd be frightened to park across two spaces for fear of retribution from disgruntled drivers.

It all boils down to the fact that people just don’t give a sh*t about other peoples property. Some incidences are caused by people who are plainly thick. Some by the apathetic and others by people who just don't give a t^ss. It ridiculous that most of us have to have a "game plan" for parking in a public car park but that's just the way it goes I suppose. I've had loads of nods from admittedly, male drivers who are walking round their car before leaving the car park. On one instance, a bloke in a new M3 parked his car right next to mine and both the girlfriends were at the car park exit waiting for us as we performed the routine reconnaissance!

I can now look at a car park and tell you statistically what is the safest place to park based on layout, size and traffic flow. How sad is that!

How many people on here do a risk assessment of the cars parked next to them when they're parking? If there are toys or signs of children, it's a no no. Also, 4WD and people carriers, forget it! Furry dice and I'm out of that space in a hurry.

I too have been on the receiving end of some stick from the girlfriend about my parking idiosyncrasies, but as you say it's easier to put up with that than to pay for a dent removal.

Something I know now, that I didn't used to.
If the public have 'unhindered access' to the car park (covers all major supermarkets), it is classed as a public road and normal accident procedures apply.
So someone denting your car and driving off can get done for 'leaving the scene'.
Doesn't apply to car parks that close or have barriers etc.

Im in 100% agreement with everything you've said CJP80!

Its this proactive assesment of the situation that prevents you crying into a bucket when some nugget has damaged your pride and joy!

So the GF will have to put up with it ;)

If there are toys or signs of children, it's a no no. .

I've got a child seat and toys in the back of my car, but I can assure you you'd be perfectly safe parking next to me.
I think the general external condition of the car says more about the owner that internal fitments.

Good to know for when I next see a chav doing doughnuts in the local Tescos car park! Dangerous driving it is then!

I regularly 'accost' people I see illegally parking in child bays.

Illegally park in child bays??

they aren't subject to PCNs so it's not 'illegal'

and for those who find it difficult to get a baby seat in and out of a car - rubbish, I find it easy enough in a 3 door A3

Exception to the rule...

In any case, its cringworthy walking back to your car only to see a bloke/bird manhandling prams out of the boot. Lifting the kids out with the door as far as it will open, limbs flailing all over the place, whilst the pram is wedged between both cars.. :scared2:

Maybe all you folks will be less inclined to park next to me as you'll think I am a girl! Maybe I should get some dice or leave a set of GHD's on the dash!

no it's not - I work extensively with a main supermarket brand in the planning and construction of new stores throught the UK

they are simply their to draw in more customers

So, the choice is, park in a normal bay, and open my rear door banging it into the car next door(which is your car hopefully!)

unlikely, I'll be parked in a child bay :lmfao:

Ok, replace 'illegally' with 'wrongly'.
This is the trouble though isn't it.
Modern Britain = common ****** decency goes out the window.
I probably couldn't be charged with putting my excess rubbish into next door's bin, but I'll still drive to the tip with it instead.
FWIW, I'd be all in favour of carparks fining individuals they see parking badly.
I'd be happy for them to keep some of the proceeds towards their costs, with the rest going to charity.
Anyone who knowingly and wrongly parks in a child space is a w*nker.
It really is as black and white as that.

If it were just to attract custom, they could merely label them 'child only' and make them the same size?
They are clearly made bigger for a reason.

I really do think that some people start of in life trying to be decent and accommodating, but they are on the receiving end of other peoples malice and disregard so often that they too become self centred and apathetic to other peoples needs. God, I sound like Dr Phil!

it's also systematic of today's administration who have made it acceptable for people not to take responsibility for their own lifestyle choices and then bleat on about how it's their right or that it's not fair

you made your choice so deal with it without having people make allowances for you

As if to show Karma does exist, here's something will give you a laugh.
Twit around here in a Ferrari, regularly ignores the queues of people trying to turn right at the airport roundabout, flies down the left hand lane, then turns right in the left hand lane.
Relying on decent people to let him in.
Last week, someone in a Corsa either didn't see him or didn't want to play his game
Bashed into him.
It'll be his fault, 100%.

Equally, I find people who are happy to get on the horn or wave the finger to people when it's them who are ignorant of the highway code. This really infuriates me.

I hate ******* who just pull out of a sideroad to get across to the other lane, that REALLY winds me up.

And not because they stop me in my tracks (emergency stop style) but because if they could actually cross in the first place I would flash them out, but because they cant actually cross at all, due to the heavy traffic in the opposite direction. So then im sat there, blocked off, waiting for someone else in the opposing lane to let this to$$er in :(

Ive been so close to a court hearing because of scum like that.

I was down to Blackburn and back on Saturday, for football.
We rarely see the problem up here (no motorways), but how the hell you lads put up with middle lane hoggers is beyond me...:aggressive:
One woman, sitting in the middle on an otherwise empty stretch (around Kendal).
Merc, Corsa and me all went past her at xxxmph, then all pulled into the left hand lane.
Look in the mirror, STILL she didn't take the hint...:wtf:
unlikely, I'll be parked in a child bay :lmfao:
Excellent, just means I won't have to damage my own door in the process of damaging yours, I'll use my size 10 to put a nice dent in your wheel arch instead.

This happened to me a few months ago forcing me to do an emergency stop. I obviously gave the horn a blast to let him know I was there. He proceeded to give me the finger, as did his passenger. The laugh was on him though as the car to the right of me, which had also had to stop, was an unmarked Volvo S40 with two very disgruntled looking traffic cops in! :lmfao:

Great example you're showing to your kids - we need more parents like you to bring up the under class

keep it up!

What a MUPPET!:aggressive: Too many idiots like you about, weather any of us have kids or not there is no need for people to get so upset about such a small thing. But like someone said nice thing to do infront of kids (if you have any)?
I will continue to shop in the other halfs motor but if I go in mine and there is a few parent spaces available then I will use one-like I said earlier I wouldnt take the last one but I dont see why its such a bad thing to want to keep your motor damage free!:nyah:

Oh, the irony...:lmfao:
Seriously though, if you feel the need to park in a child space, you're waaaaay too obsessed with your car.
Not only that, but you're evidently a very self centred person.
It's a scummy, selfish, act.
Just don't do it.

Jeez, he's not plotting a holocaust or anything!

Oh, how I love lazy, apologist, retorts...
No, I dare say in the 'great scheme of things' it isn't that bad.
However, when you are directly affected by it, as I'm sure most parents are at some point, it becomes intensely annoying, to the point where I'm sure assaults/damage does occur.
It's little things like this that make ordinary people see red.
If you can live with the fact you are potentially inconveniencing and angering people, to the point where they think you are an utter w*nker, park away...
I was brought up though, not dragged up.

Ok Sir Bowfer... We will all do what you say as we all know that you are right and thats it,the simple fact of the matter is its not law, and much as it might be selfish its also selfish to damage other peoples motors! you drive a company car, you dont have to spend £00000`s on a car so you would say that.:nyah:

Maybe I will go to a f*cking car boot and buy a baby seat for a fiver to keep in the back for the high & mighty...prevent the `no kids` must be a c*** theory to passers by???

Ok Sir Bowfer... We will all do what you say as we all know that you are right and thats it,the simple fact of the matter is its not law,

Firstly, this isn't about whether I'm right.
I think you'll find the general consensus would be that you're wrong.
It will come and bite you in the *** though, I promise you (assuming you ever have kids).
Will you think back and remember you used to do it, when you're looking for a child space and some self-obsessed twit has used it for purely selfish reasons?
Will you hell.
You'll just get angry and think he/she (formerly you) is a dickhead.

BTW, I have a kid seat in the car all the time.
Do I use a kid space, when my daughter isn't there?
Nope.
