Ok here goes, last Sunday I decided to get all the parts needed to do the
DSG oil change. Picked the parts up Monday, filter etc.

On Tuesday I was driving to Warrington when the car started to surge, its
hard to explain, its as if the car was running out of fuel. It was as if its
losing drive. I had VAGCOM with me as a was travelling to N8KOV's so
pulled over and fault code checked the outcome is below. The surging is not permanent

It is not doing it all the time, I cleared the codes, with the ignition on
only the first fault came up, I then started the car and the second fault
came up.

I have just cleared the faults, (the engine was cold) and they
didn't reappear, drove around for 5 minutes and still no errors, then when all engine and box was warm the faults returned.

As anyone experienced this or heard of the problems??

I have checked previous services and the DSG oil change was carried out at 42k it has now done 67k

2 Faults Found:
18148 - Clutch Temperature Monitoring
P1740 - 012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
17100 - Transmission Input Speed Sensor (G182): Implausible Signal
P0716 - 000

I would also appreciate it if I don't get loads of replies slating the DSG
box in general
Thanks Matt

Did you actually change the oil? If so you may have disturbed the wiring to the sensor. Implausible signals are caused either by defective sensors or intermittent connections to them. A defective ecu is a less likely cause. An overheating oil-bath clutch could be caused by a lack of oil. If you didn't change the oil then after replacing the sensors an Audi dealer would probably want to change the Mechatron. Brace yourself.

No I havent changed the oil yet

I have heard the sensors are inside the gearbox

Mechatron - Is this a mechanical part?

I know it will be expensive, we run a garage so labour is no problem just the parts.

The mechatron is the electro-hydraulic unit mounted in the side of the gearbox. It's responsible for loading the gears and operating the clutches etc in response to several sensor inputs and is thus the brains of the dsg system. I believe it costs around £1700.

£1700 ------- Eeeeeek!!!

My DSG A3 used to surge, mostly when trying to cruise at around 40mph on a very light throttle.
As you state, it was like it was running out of fuel.
More 'hunting' than surging though.
I never reported it, no point.
Whacking it into 'D' usually solved it, I'm guessing because the ECU then went onto a 'smoother' map.

I think min occasssionally judders in the morning, although i'm not 100% sure if its the car or me.

BUT ive still got the error with vagcom so i need to sort that, as the guys at rosstech say it seems like a connector fault on the speed sensor

It was possibly a fault on mine too, but I decided reporting it to my dealer was about as much use as milk shoes.

Trust me if urs was doin what mine is you would of been at the stealers, some times it will loose drive all together and just rev up. Hopefully going to have a look at the weelkend as im working in manchester this week.
